I don't think anyone in his weightclass or below could beat Floyd today. Stop getting your panties tight cuz I said Floyd COULD beat Duran. I didn't say I guaranteed it. Mosley and Cotto both could beat Floyd. :bottle:You're barkin' up the wrong tree, pal... You've got me mixed up with other forumers. I'm not bustin' your balls about your love for Floyd; I'm merely challenging your objectivity. Don't be misled by my username, avatar or signature; I think Duran's cool, but I'm not a fanatic. In other words, my panties are fittin' nice and loose, thank you...

I'm gonna bite on this. This is at least a reasonable point.
I disagree as to Floyd beating Duran.
However, despite agreeing that Mosley and Cotto COULD beat Floyd, I find it unlikely that they would. I think Mosley is aging and what he could have done against Floyd is unlikely to be possible for him now. I think that the Mosley fight would be another DLH fight with Mosley being frustrated. I know he looked decent against Collazo but Floyd is a step up and I just have a feeling that Mosley is not as good as his last victory suggests. I think Collazo was Mosley's Mayorga.
If Floyd were to take a fight it has to be some of the young turks in welter. As stated in a prior post, he should fight the emergent top two of Cotto, Williams and Margharito. I would give a lot more credit to those victories.
Cotto looks good and would certainly make for a tough fight for Floyd. Floyd would have some bruised ribs (hopefully his nuts would avoid a battering though) and might have to dig in a bit to survive but that would show me a lot more of Floyd that I want to see than I have seen in a LOOONNGG time.
Floyd would win but he'd get body shotted enough to make him have to work hard.
Anyway, this is all conjecture. Floyd's done.
Side note: Duran fought SRL 1 like a madman cause he was fed up of SRL's perceived wealth. He would have RAPED Floyd for his 'Wanksta' act.
As far as you're concerned, is there anyone on this planet who could have beaten Floyd, or could beat Floyd? Is there a single fighter that you know of today who would have the remotest chance of beating Floyd? Is he absolutely invinsible? Are you objective, or totally delusional?
Just curious...

Reality Check:
Who in the game is better than Floyd Mayweather? Nobody.
Floyd has beaten 37 opponents not just 4. DLH today is still an elite in boxing whether u like it or not.

Floyd is not more elusive or a better defensive fighter than prime Whittaker. And even Whittaker says that fighting Duran would send chills down his spine. Whittaker also said that at he wouldn't have a great chance at beating Duran at 135lbs and that his best chance of beating Duran would've been at 147lbs.
Pernell also stated that he would beat PBF.
I saw when Pernell said that on ESPN about a fight with Duran. Didn't know he said that about PBF. Can't say I agree or disagree with Pernell about him beating PBF. I do know one thing about that fight it would go down as a fight with the most missed punches ever and probably have the worst connect percentage between to boxers ever.
Floyd would never stand with Duran like in the first Leonard fight. He would box and move all night.

And if Pernell is convinced that Duran would've been able to catch up with him at 135lbs I'm pretty damn sure that he would've been able to catch PBF.

Following that rant, a little perspective is in order: If Duran fought Mayweather in their respective primes, he would do no worst than he did in his first fight against leonard, which was win. At best, he would destroyed Mayweather the way he did Davey Moore.
Duran's defeat of Leonard benchmarked the zenith of his prime. Every subsequent fight was part of his decline. Although he disposed of the likes of Cuevas, Palomino, Moore and Barkley, when he fought Hagler and Hearns he was way past his prime. He gets credit for fighting the very best in his career at their best, and for being the very first to defeat Leonard at his best.
By being the greatest lightweigh champion ever, and one of the greatest fighters of all times, Roberto Duran is a legend! If his current resumé is of any indication (undefeated by virtue of tomato cans), I doubt that Floyd Mayweather will ever achieve that level of regard. Of course, should future events prove me wrong, I'll gladly eat crow...

Best in the game? Oh yeah ryt. Dream on buddy. He couldn't even stop an old DLH. Oh yeah ryt.
Dream on. Fakes like Floyd should stick to fighting old DLH. Duran would murder a fake like him.
Yes he got beat by all those elites. Having an unbeaten record proves nothing unless you have the resume to boast it.
PLAIN AND BASIC COMMON SENSE.
You fake Floyd has... let me see.
Gatti
Judah
Baldo
an old DLH
So much for a resume.
And fake Floyd isn't the best. Dream on. He's the fake best.

Hagler and Hearns beat Duran dumbass. Hearns knocked Duran on his ass. Sugar Ray already made Duran look stupid.

Lightweight is the ONLY place where Floyd even has an argument for being comparible to Duran. He loses but at least he's in the game. Floyd was impressive and easily on his way to being a great.
Since moving up he has consistantly taken on obviously flawed opposition with easily manipulated weaknesses (especially by someone with his skill level).
He could not equal Duran-Hagler by taking on Taylor or Pavlik but it would be comparible.
He could not equal Duran-Hearns by taking on Margharito, Cotto or Williams but it would at least be comparible.
He cannot equal Duran-SRL but that is not Floyd's fault as noone currently compares to SRL.
Duran wins on paper.
Record v Record = Duran
Legacy v Legacy = Duran
Household Name after 10, 25 and 100 years = Duran
I believe that Duran would win a match up at any weight.
Floyd's defensive style IS tough. In fact Floyd's argument can ONLY be 'styles make fights'.
Unfortunately Floyd has never fought ANY 'All Time Greats'. In fairness he hasn't had any within his reach. But he hasn't even taken on anyone who has made you ask 'What the F%&K is he thinking?'. He hasn't even taken a fight that he had a major chance of losing (though DLH was a good step in that direction in my opinion).
Until he tests that talent on some really top tier fighters Floyd remains a 'coulda been' in the 'All Time Great' department.
He was however the best around in his era that is now over. Shame he didn't show us his greatness in the last years of his career.
Duran has the edge ....Floyd will be on the back foot like never before....i don't think it could be another SRL no mas incident because PBF doesn't have the punching power to hurt Duran..and whoever brought up hearns KO..pah
Where da hell u came from? Floyd Mayweather Jr and Roberto Duran are 2 of the greatest boxers to put on a pair of gloves. Why u gettin all tight? Many would say Duran is the best lightweight ever. You like to watch Duran and I like to watch Floyd.Tight? I'm being very generous. I'm givin' it up to your boy... er I mean god ...:hail:
Floyd this, Floyd that... Floyd Floyd Floyd... Let's face it, Floyd Mayweather is the greatest fighter to ever lace on a pair of gloves. There, I said it! Happy now?

Now he probably would. If he was in his prime(without bad hands) he could beat Duran and DLH didn't give Floyd all he could handle. DLH was just more active. He never hurt Floyd. Floyd still beat him and didn't use his A game. Floyd barely threw combinations. Duran is not as skilled as Floyd.Floyd this, Floyd that... Floyd Floyd Floyd... Wow. Educate on what? Duran gets beat just like Castillo got beat by PBF. By a better BOXER. Heart, hands of stone, whatever, Duran gets beat. At what weight? 140? 147? 154? Will it be the war you want it to be? No. Will it be an BOXING clinic? No doubt. And Duran will be on the losing side again. Maybe have Mayweather's family sitting up with A.K. 47's. So Duran can be "in fear again". Or maybe Duran can get hit by Hearn's straight right again? Who knows. :moon:
Yeah ryt.
Duran has Hagler, Hearns and SRL as his opponents. And let's not mention he has fought ALL the elites in lightweight.
SO yeah.
Until then your fake Floyd can stick to the Baldo's and Gatti's and old DLH's. His next time should be against Fana so he can look impressive.
Fakes like him should stay retired. Boxing doesn't need fakes like him.
Hagler and Hearns beat Duran dumbass. Hearns knocked Duran on his ass. Sugar Ray already made Duran look stupid.
Floyd is still the best in the game today and could beat Duran.

Duran is probably just as skilled as Floyd, only in different areas.
Floyd is a master boxer, while Duran is a master brawler.
If you're afraid of getting hit, you won't throw combinations. Now, I think that Floyd didn't unleash against DLH because of the reach advantage of Oscar. It's too easy to counter a smaller fighter if you can time his punches.
I'm saying that Duran has earned the privilege to be favoured over someone who hasn't fought the best he could, but I can see where you're coming from.
I'd like to see this match-up, but I'd put my money on Duran every time.
