Vitali Klitschko returns 9/22!
Former two-time heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko will begin his comeback against three-time title challenger Jameel McCline on September 22 in Munich, Germany. For Klitschko (35-2, 34 KOs), it will be his first fight since his December 2004 KO against Danny Williams. Vitali retired in 2005 after a series of injuries. McCline (38-7-3, 23 KOs) is coming off an unsuccessful January WBA title challenge against then-champ Nikolai Valuev that ended in round three when McCline collapsed with a knee injury. Vitali's brother, current IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko, stopped McCline via tenth round TKO in 2002. The WBC has mandated that Vitali, recognized as "champion emeritus," be given an immediate title shot against the winner of the mandatory Oleg Maskaev-Samuel Peter fight.

.....Yep, and if he looks real good then Peter is going to be shitting his pants at the thought of his next fight after Maskaev. I heard that big Vit really wants to hurt Peter for the rabbit punching shit he pulled on Wlad.
I'd feel the same way if some noodge pulled that illegal shit on my younger brother.
You stick up for your family, and you avenge them. Its in the DNA.
You've got to be shitting me. That's the most assenine thing I've heard this year. I refuse to believe that HBO won't be televising this fight. Didn't they have Vitali as well as his brother? They surely aren't stupid enough to miss an opportunity to put such a long awaited return on Saturday night.
boxing talk said that this fight is not going to be shown on american tv
It should be easy to find a stream from a Russian TV station if you don't mind watching it on a smaller screen on your computer. I'll send you a message with some links before the fight if you like.
ye that would be cool if u could do that
Sam Peter is slow. If he was a really good fighter, he wouldn't resort to rabbit punches so often. I rank Lamon Brewster as better than Peter.
I think Brewster is better right now, but Peter is improving constantly. Also, he's not that slow. His handspeed ain't bad, it's just nothing spectacular either. His power is great, he's got good instincts, and he's (lately) willing to put the work in at the gym, too.
The rabbit punches were simply a result of his age and immaturity, frustration, and stupidity (he's not really very bright, you know). I don't think he'll make a career of it. Still pisses me off, though.
Where does this put Sam Peters?
Ranked, you mean? I'd say he's probably 5th or 6th, realistically, possibly as low as 10th, but probably not. But remember, styles makes fights. A fighter that one guy can beat, another may not be able to.
Peter was knocked down in the last round of his fight with Wlad. Peter has never been KOed though and as you say, Vitali may well KO Peter. But Peter has to get by Oleg Maskaev, and that's not a given...
I don't think he went down, but he was certainly on queer street. I'd have to watch it again (I have it saved to DVR, have watched it several times), but I don't recall him actually going down. But no, I know he's never been KO'd. He's got a fucking titanium chin, rating up there with Vitali. Some of those right hands Wlad hit him with were knocking down members of Peter's family in Nigeriam, and were causing temporal disturbances in the time-space continium, but he barely moved. It was a left hook that set him to doing the chicken dance.
Regarding Oleg....I think Samual will KO the monster. I've seen him hurt by slightly lesser punchers, and he's so hittable it's unbelievable. His big strength is.....well, his size and strength. I think someone like Peter, who's capable of putting a huge amount of power in the right place, in combinations (and Peter has been improving greatly in throwing combinations) will put the giant on his ass for the 10 count.

If Vitali is even close to the fighter he was, Peter will not be able to rabbit punch Vitali if he tries all night long, it's just not possible with Vitali's style. Vitali will mop the floor with Peter's ass. Damn, I can't wait for that fight to happen...

...I wouldn't be surprised to see them pick this fight up for coverage.
I heard this fight wont be televised in america that sux because I want to see it

McCline is dangerous no matter his shape or recent record. He's getting near the end of his career, but then so is Vitali. I think Vitali will easily prove to be the better man in this case, and do it quick, and then give Peter a beatdown like he's never imagined. I like Peter (to an extent, I don't like whiners, but I do like big guys who are willing to work on their craft and conditioning, like Peter is), but I do want to see him get a complete and thorough ass-kicking. I think it'll be good for his attitude, and eventually, his career, though short-term it could be damaging, but only slightly....getting beaten stupid by Vitali is entirely understandable, no matter who you are.
hell,,,,for his first fight in 3 years after a bad injury I think he should have picked an even worse opponent just to knock some rust off. mccline is a huge man with a pretty good jab and has only been knocked out once by wlad. this is a lot more dangerous a fight than most think considering all that inactivity
I would agree with you accept for McClines recent fights all going downhill and the fact that he still wont be fully prepared and injury free when he steps into that ring...Sorry an injury like that can take a year or more...Easy pickings for Vitali...Jameel is tailor made for a fighter like Klitschko...Vitali is going to stand back pop that jab and bust his face up all night cruising to an easy 12 round decision...
I hope Vitali is the same fighter that he used to be, he'll KO McCline around 10, then on to the Maskaev/Peter winner.
The fight date is perfect, exactly one week before Maskaev/Peter :)

I would say this would be a good tune up fight but this is just garbage considering Jameel is coming off of a career ending injury...Sounds like Vitaly went cherry picking and found the ripest one in the field for his comeback...A decent name will gain him recognition...People still remember Mccline...Just for the wrong reasons.
