Yeah he probably knew Zab, but the fight was brutal and maybe he didn't want to see anybody get seriously hurt and he probably really respected both men for the performance they gave everybody. I know when Im watching a boxing match and one of my favorite fighters or for that fact any fighter is getting beat up I feel for them and hope the fight gets stopped before they are seriously hurt.
He had a New York accent too. Its very possible he knew Zab some how.
Dave Paris would have waved off the fight in the first round when Judah had Cotto hurt..
I think he DESPERATLY wanted to avoid a riot a la Zab VS Mayweather
Yeah thats a big possibility and soo true! Probably wanted to stay on Zab's good side and not have anything happen like with Jay Nadey. Come to think of it he probably was kissing up to Zab maybe because he thought it would help him keep his cool. Before he said we are family here he did mention "I don't want this to turn into what happened in Las Vegas" or something like that.
Yeah I know. I am not saying he was biased, I'm just saying thats something weird to tell a fighter.. Dunno maybe the ref was a fan of both and didn't want to see anyone get hurt but I just thought it was kind of odd.. Never seen it before, at least I don't think.
