I think it'll be a great fight environment. Mexicans love Castillo, and they are huge fight fans so i think they come out to see the fight.
And Hatton has a huge following, so expect 3-4 thousand of them to fly out considering the opponent.
So i think a very nice crowd of 10-11 thousand shows up, but thats not very close to a sell out.
And considering they are calling this one a superfight, which is isnt, but still this is a fight that probably should sell out.
And it probably would have if HBO never decided to go throught with that URANGO + NGOUDJO card and went straight to the fight.
Couple questions for you to think about:
Will this sell out?
Who will this crowd be in favor of ?(could be an even split, which is awsome)
What took so long for this fight to made? Coulda happened in May or March
And, obviously, who is gonna win and how?
The downsides:
The Ultimate Fighter 4 finale is on the same night
The fight is not at a casino which limits the number of comp tickets
The upsides:
There are 8000 people expected to fly over from the UK.
If Castillo draws half as many fans then we would be left with 7000 seats to be filled with walk-up buys. And the aforementioned UFC is at a tiny venue so it will be sold out long in advance - no walkup buys! I think there's going to be around 15,000 seats filled.
8000??? thats much more then i would have expected, thats great. I would LOVE to see 15,000. It would mean a lot of good is happening for boxing since DLH-Mayweather.
People at least know boxing is still around now :D

I totally agree with you there. Those fights hurt the marketability of this fight tremendously. Without those fights this would've been a mega PPV event.
I'm not to sure because I havent really seen anything out their except the commercials on Hbo anouncing the fight, Their doing a poor job on selling this fight.
This is so true, I'm sick of them only hyping DLH fights. It sucks. SInce they made so much of "The World Awaits" they feel they don't have to worry about promoting other events for a while.
You guys both honestly think this fight can sell anywhere near 19,000 seats, when Hatton and Castillo on the same card STRUGGLED to sell 6,000 was it?
I think it does a solid 10,000, but not much more or less.
19000 is near impossible. I would love to see it, but it aint gonna happen.
In the UK, definetly, but this is Las Vegas
....................lol
It has been reported that it will be the biggest overseas following fo a british boxer when Hatton takes on Castillo with an estimated 8 thousand making the trip to Las Vegas. I quite beleive it when Hatton fought Urango it was straight after christmas and new year this is now the holiday season !!!! Dont think it will be a sell out tho.
I think it will sell out, both fighters have a huge following and there will be plenty of neutrals there aswell.
It will sell out don't you worry.
As for thinking the crowd won't be as good as the Cotto vs Judah one..... you obviously don't know how us poms roll.

i was at the hatton-urango fight and it was a live crowd. and after being at that fight i made a statement that i would attend all of hatton's fights here in vegas because the crowd was so hyped and live!
with that being said, castillo has a decent following, not that huge though, but i think enough to get a good number of asses in the seats.
and hatton this fight around i think gets more of his peeps in there. i'm sure that hatton is going to have every brit living in the states there this time around and i'm sure he's going to have a shit ton fly over for the fight.
but as for selling out, maybe, i think it's going to be tough because the fight is at thomas and mack, which is a huge place. 20 thousand seats or so, something to that effect.
all i know is i'm going to the fight and i'm going to get a good seat for cheap, gotta love them scalped tickets. (vegas fight night secret number one)
I just hope the crowd is half of what MSG was last Saturday.
dont count on that! lol
It should be more like VAZQUEZ-MARQUEZ. A smallish crowd, but loud and very into it. And it should be a virtual split.
Half cheering for Hatton
Half cheering for Castillo.
AND, there will be almost twice as many people in attendance
this definitely has FOTY potential. But I dont think it will sellout because of the high prices for tickets. I would have loved to be in Vegas for this one. Hopefully the winner of this one takes on Cotto next.
If Castillo wins then i think a Cotto match is possible.
But Hatton better not go up to 147. He is an undersized JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT, going up in weight to fight Cotto would be like a junior welterweight fighting a junior middleweight-middleweight.
It wouldnt be fair.
Oh, I just read that the THOMAS AND MACK CENTER holds 19,000!!!! Forget a sellout, hopefully this fight sells half that many seats!

Hatton will have more like 8-10 thousand fans out there !!!
only 3 thousand fans flew out for his urango fight.
I think a lot more Hatton fans will fly out for this one though, cause its a much bigger fight against a much better opponent. And Hatton will need the support.
But 8 is way to high. lol
Im expecting a raucous crowd, but nothing near sold out. 4-5 thousand empties. thoughts?
