I think PBF will win by decesion but he will get beat up in the fight..it will be close but PBF tends to come on strong towards the later rds..were Cotto fades a little.
Right now, Cotto is better than Oscar, and would pressure Floyd a hell of a lot more the DLH did. He'll let his hands go, cuz he has youth on his side. Oscar was one round away from winning, Cotto would pull off more rounds than Oscar did. Also, Mayweather does not have enough pop to keep Miguel off of him. Miguel has questionable whiskers but he won't be stopped anytime soon, he has great ability to recover. He's been in there with some murderous punchers and always pulled it off (Shane, Ricardo Torres, Randall Bailey, Mohamad Abdulaev, Kelson Pinto, Carlos Maussa) Floyd can't hurt him and Floyd will avoid the fight, too bad we'll never see it happen.
floyd by a lopsided ud imho ,floyd just to fast, get in and get out ,great defense, knows how to move around the ring, rarley gasses, on the other hand he has had problems with great pressure fighters like castillo back in the day but he progressed alot, i see cotto getting caught flush over and over and just applying the pressure more and more but floyd running more and more throwing a few combos getting in and out and getting cotto frustrtaed to the point cotto opens up a little to much , result being floyd does enough to win on cards ,and cotto dosent stop fighting and shows tremendous heart.
u hit da mark i believe everything u said except for da part of pbf winning. its just my opinion but i dont think floyd can run fast enough to escape cotto unless he gets da larger ring(problably da case) but he'll tire out and cotto's liver shot will keep floyd from letting his hands go. so cotto ud but close on da scorecards.
If floyd fights the way he fought against Oscar..he will lose.
Different figher, Different strategy. Much more reason to be careful when you are way out of your weight class against a bigger man with good boxing skills. The opportunities weren't that plentiful against DLH b/c he is not the all out attacker that Cotto is. Since Cotto is such a relentless attacker Mayweather has many more chances to counter and move as he so loves to do. I think Cotto is a great fighter but this presents a bad style match up for him.
im not saying floyd's punches wouldnt hurt cotto. im sure a horsefly bite would hurt cotto. im just saying i dont think floyd has the power to deter cotto from coming forward.
I don't think there is a fighter out there that would keep Cotto from coming forward that is just his style but against Floyd I think that could be his downfall with Floyd catching him with his accurate counters. That's just my opinion it definately would be a good fight but I see Floyd coming out on top whether it would be UD or stoppage from cuts.

i think it would be interesting considering theyre both slow starters. cotto is most vulnerable at the beginning of the fight when he's getting his bearings, and zeroing in with the left hook to the body. mayweather's the same way, vulnerable while he gets his opponents timing down and starts to control the ring.
i think itd be an interesting turn of events to see mayweather confused as cotto heats up throughout the fight. mayweather, regardless of how accurate he is, wouldnt be able to hurt cotto. that being said, i can see a less-than-active mayweather getting steamrolled as the fight goes on. at the same time, i can see mayweather rising to the occasion and outboxing cotto.
hard to pick if you ask me.
I totally disagree with this statement. Cotto always seems to get hurt by the shot he doesn't see coming and they are normally counter shots without a ton of power behind them so yes Floyd could hurt Cotto.
Cotto would slowy get torn to shreds.. Floyd is Too accuarte and Cotto too open.. If Cotto could learn to stop WALKING into shots He could pull it off.. But he is what he Is..
I concur, a perfect analysis.

Although Cotto was very impressive last night, Zab Judah and Floyd Mayweather are two very different fighters. Zab may be faster and is a harder puncher than Floyd but lacks the mental focus/acumen and defense of Mayweather. I saw multiple times that Judah could have countered Cotto and he simply did not pull the trigger. I think Mayweather wins a UD or TKO on cuts a la Gatti. Cotto just gets hit too much for an accurate puncher with good defense like Mayweather. I think it would be quite entertaining and competitive though. Also the ring last night was small if Cotto fights Mayweather figure there will be a lot more room to maneuver.
Good post, I totally agree with you on Zab not pulling the trigger. Cotto was open all night for the straight counter left and for some reason Zab wouldn't let his hands go. Cotto would definately be a tough opponent for anyone but he can't afford to get hit like that against an accurate puncher like Floyd.
Good fight either way (Floyd/Cotto) that I would like to see.

Right now I think, like someone mentioned, Mayweather would puzzle Cotto although it would be a very good fight. I would pick Mayweather by UD, I think Cotto would get very frustrated and unlike Zab, Mayweather has the will to keep throwing and in his game plan even after taking a few good shots.
I just think that the agressive fighters such as Cotto tend to loser their agression when confused. Kind of like Tito vs. Wright/Hopkins. Mayweather is very confusing becuase it's hard to find angles to hit him where it will be effective. Judah although a great talent is very predictable. Mayweather will puzzle Cotto. And for sure would take advantage of Cotto being an open target up the middle.
I think it would mirror the DLH fight. Being that Floyd would dominate the center of the ring. And in the corner would dodge a majority of the shots Cotto throws.
