This fight shows that Zab judah is finished, and also proves cotto has to cheat to win. The next fuckin cheato trinidad.. So tonight we had a clash of the unfocused morons, and the fuckin cheaters. Good job, real " warriors " indeed. I'm glad I didn't pay for this garbage. I hope Zab Judah retires cause he isn't the fighter anyone thought he was. And as for cotto, once he fights someone who won't loose focus after getting low blowed repeatedly, he's gonna loose. Fuck these noobs.
Low blows or not I still think Cotto would have won the fight. It was a great fight and Judah showed a lot of heart. Just seen the fight, and I still think Mosley and Floyd would beat Cotto. They are both superior boxers than Judah and don't disappear late in fights and stop throwing.
You know, it was a good fight, but the facts are, that one fighter lost focus and another cheated. This dosn't really draw me into the fight and have me on the wagon for a fight of the year. Low blows , are a part of boxing yes, but they are still illegal, and if Jab was a better fighter, he could have overcame. I think it was all hyped up and not really worth it for more than what it was. A good brawl between two mediocre fighters.
If I was Zab I would have taken the full 5 minutes. Screw the crowd and their ADD. All they want is 2 neanderthals getting brain damage. I want to see Cotto vs a stick and move type fighter with a good jab. We don't have much of them right now cuz there are too many fans that boo them. Too many good boxers are sensitive to the booos and too many fans don't appreciate the sweet science.
Zab was never really that good to begin with, he benefited by having the New York media pump him up. I remember Max Kellerman almost had an orgasm when he spoke about Zab Judah. He has one big win and that was when he ko'd Spinks, if not for that fight his best win would be against Mickey Ward. Zab is a classic example of a premature ejaculator, he goes out and shoots his load quick and then he doesn't know what to do after he's done.
For those of us who saw the fight please chime in with me on these points....After the second low blow judah didn't take the 5 mins to recuperate...He later said the low blows took a lot out of him...which brings me to my point...Judah was doing well until the last low blow. After that he absolutely just quit throwing punches. I know cotto came on strong but I don't think that would completely stop judah from throwing really any punches at all. At first I thought he was just loading up on ONE shot but he stopped throwing the uppercut as well...Do ya'll think the low blows changed the fight? Is judah so far gone as a fighter that he couldn't put at least a couple of combinations together..Your thoughts on Cotto as well...
That's because the fucking ref was on Zab's ass the whole fucking fight. When the second low blow happened (which was extremely low) fucking Mercante is telling him to "shake it off", "lets fight", and told him repeatedly to "stop complaining". I seen Zab (who actually showed some class and sportsmanship last night) get hit in the back and two low blows and Mercante gave him shit.
yeah, yeah, yeah...dude, these guys just fought thier freaking hearts out! This will be the FOTY. you probably said Zab gonna knock Cotto out. This is real boxing, brother. Give these two fine warriors thier props. That is... unless "YOU" have a better RECORD!
didn't think so...
Good post man. They did fight their hearts out and put on a good show for fight fans. We need more fights like this!!!
Zab Judah starts breathing through his mouth piece by the 5th round...that was garaunteed...like I told you guys, Cotto is an expert in timing breathing patterns. Some may say Cotto is slow...but in all reality, he times you, waits, and catches you when you on the "INHALE"....BAM! Props to Zab Judah, passed my prediction of "TKO in the 9th" with two more rounds. (saved by a knee!)

cotto didnt cheat and zab got his ass kick.end of story.
now its all about what next for cotto?

thats what i couldnt understand either..judah just stopped throwing punches after that 2nd low blow. at first it did look like he was waiting for the big shot but he didnt even throw that uppercut after round 4 and that shot was landing something fierce in the first 3 rounds. he was hitting cotto at will and even the compubox stats showed that he landed 60% of his power shots. and then all of a sudden he just stopped throwing. it almost makes you think that the low blows really did have a serious effect on zab. i know cotto's pressure alone wouldn't stop zab from at least putting a combination together. cotto was open for it
fuckin great fight but it looked to me that judah's heart isn't really in boxing anymore. he just doesn't like getting hurt.
cotto will be the star of the welterweight division for a good few years.
I always thought Cotto had alot of talent but i figured his chin was going to fail him. After seeing him take some shots at welter i have been impressed with his chin holding up.I think weight drain from trying to make jr welter was the reason he looked like he had a questionable chin.If you take away the questionable chin i really have nothing bad to say about the guy now and i see no reason why he couldnt compete against the best at welter.I was really shocked to see him take that punch from zab as well as he did in the first round.
I personally thought that this fight proved a lot for Cotto. I personally thought that Cotto couldn't make many adjustments but he did switching to southpaw a fews times with good results and not relying on the body shots as much and going to the head of Judah with good power shots. Plus there was definitely a difference in handspeed for Judah and Cotto overcame that and took some good shots, but still kept pressing. I personally felt going into this fight that Cotto was overrated, but not now. His performance showed us what he is all about.
The first low blow was total acting on Zabs part but the second shot was right on the money.Even if you take out those low blows the fight would have gone the same way.Zab hit Cotto with his best shots early and cotto was still there. It was a good win for Cotto but people give Zab to much credit because of his natural ability and fail to see hes not even a elite fighter.Zab is now 1-5 against top level oposition. He's more of a gate keeper level of fighter to be honest.Good win for Cotto and i think he has earned his status as a elite fighter finally.
nice fight, zab started very good, overwhelming cotto, but then he felt cotto's punches and started to back up, and last rounds oh! men , he showed condition and bravery , he was ko stand , he resit but was too much power to handle, a good fight...

good fight, but not foty for me because it was one sided imo. foty to me means more action from the other opponent than not throwing and being dominated. if zab moved more and got hit less, and countered with more than just an uppercut ocassionaly and nothing to follow up then it may have been in the runnings for foty but cotoo outworked zab and dominated zab, and it's too early for it to be foty anyway, so we'll have to wait and see.
And i have to add this. Does anyone know somone that wont lose focus after repeated shots to thier cock and balls?
Yes, Floyd after the low blow and getting hit behind the head.
Even Arthur Abraham stayed more focused after having his jaw broken in 2 places, being intentionally headbutted, and repeated low blows.
