Its a long 2 part article but its worth it!
How come when Floyd calls out guys for fights, no one cares but when he moves on and they then call him out then everyone goes crazy about it and talks about who Floyd didnt fight?Lets examine the facts.
At 130 Floyd was begging for a fight with Naz when he was on top of the world but the Prince ducked him. Even Merchant admitted it after the Chico fight. At 135 it was a known fact that Floyd offered a prime Juan Lazcano a fight and he turned it down, he also offered a prime Freitas a fight and he also turned it down. At 140 everyone knew that Floyd offered Hatton a couple of fights and he turned it down. Hatton even admits this and always says "later". Now he knows Floyd has moved on or retired and now here comes Hatton talking shit because he knows that he can look good because alot of media and fans are dumb and biased against Floyd.
Floyd had to go through hell to even get a Gatti fight. He only got that because Gatti was basically forced to face him. Everyone knows that Arum wouldnt let Cotto anywhere near Floyd. Floyd wouldve took that fight in a heartbeat and only a hater wouldnt admit that. At 147 he called out Mosley and Shane admittedly turned it down. No one cared but now that Floyd already said he would retire then everyone tries to call Floyd a chump. Then you come to Oscar. Floyd tried forever to get that fight. If Oscar never accepted then Floyd still wouldnt have even had that fight and he wouldve got ripped for it. When Mosley was fighting Vargas, Floyd said that he would be interested in the winner. Vargas people then came out and said that even if they win they wouldnt be interested in a Floyd fight.
I dont understand how Floyd has tried hard to get fights, yet guys turn him down and somehow Floyd ends up as the chump? It makes no sense. Then comes a hero like Margarito. A guy who no one ever cared about. He called Floyd out and it was no big deal because guys do that to Floyd all the time. It actually was sad because at the time Margarito was at 147 coming into the ring as a Middleweight and Floyd was still at 135. Floyd moves up to 147 and no one still cares but as soon as Floyd turned it down then everyone comes out the wood works. Why? They came out because Floyd was ranked #1, so many people hated him, and they knew that so many other top fighters who they love have turned him down. So now Margarito says yes and then everyone has a hero to back. Then like idiots they let Arum boost him up to be God. Then there were a ton of articles saying that Floyd is scared of him. They only wrote that crap because they knew that Floyd had already turned him down. If Floyd wouldve accepted that fight from the jump then it wouldnt even had been a big deal. It wouldve just been a solid Floyd fight that everyone knew he would win. Its that Floyd turned him down that turned him into a legend.
He must mean something to to the rest of you, since you always talk about him. Let's be serious though Margarito has no chance in beating Floyd. Cotto has a slight chance.
Only Mosley or Cotto could put a dent in Floyd.
Floyd would box circles around them two.
Yeah, no point making any fights then. Lets just assume he'd beat everyone. How it looks on paper is always how it turns out in real life anyway.
No need for him to actually go out and prove anything.
Floyd's scared of certain fighters...Margarito and Cotto are 2 of them. I makes NO difference if he fought so and so...he is scared. Period.
Floyd would box circles around them two.
Everyone is claiming Floyd ducked this and that person, but he is never getting credit for all of his wins. None of the guys you all are claiming he ducked have half the "solid" wins Floyd has. This all goes on and on and proves this quote true.....
"For every very successful person, there's a pack of haters."
Floyd's scared of certain fighters...Margarito and Cotto are 2 of them. I makes NO difference if he fought so and so...he is scared. Period.
You are lying since Margarito is a nobody and Floyd never turned Cotto down.. The proof is in the pudding, he's 38-0, nuff said, there's nothing for you to criticize besides fights that he's won..
Floyd only gets shitted on by low-life UFC fans who happen to watch boxing also who want to see him lose someday, no big deal, we all know Floyd is the greatest of this era anyways..
So your saying that Floyd is bigger in the U.S than Hatton is in the U.K?? You want to make an avatar bet on that? Put up a poll, i dare u!
Didnt think so.
Fact: Floyd just fought the biggest name in boxing and was the biggest fight in years so I highly doubt that.

So your saying Floyd should give in to what Hatton wants in order to get a fight with him? He made offers to Hatton which he either turned down or priced himself out. Hatton was ringside when Floyd fought Gatti and was supposedly next in line to fight Floyd but I guess Floyd's performance scared him off because he didn't see interested then. Anyway Floyd is the bigger name than Hatton so there is no reason Floyd should have to give in to get a fight with him it's just like Oscar is the bigger out of him and Floyd and thats why floyd gave in to Oscar's demands.
Welcome to the world of boxing.

A lot of valid points. Some of them remind us what is bad about our favorites sport. Why all the talk just to make fights happen. There needs to be a comprehensive ranking system that everyone can agree on, so we get more competitive matchups.
I'm saying if Floyd wanted a fight with Hatton, it would've got made. Maybe if he wasn't in such a hurry to move up and take on the likes of Frombe' Mitchell and Henry Brussel Sprout they could've come to an agreement.
But you guess Hatton was scared though, so I suppose if you guess it, it must be true.
He fought Brusseles at 140 before the Gatti fight so what are you talking about? Floyd/Hatton should of happened but you can't put it on Floyd that it didn't.
The Reasons That Your Asking About Aresimple.. Floyd Had The Luxuary Of Being The Self Proclaim Best Becuase He Family Already Had Money And Wouldnt Take Less Money His Demands Were To High.. Even Larry Merchant Asked Him About Taking Less Money In An Inerview To Make These Fights Happen.. And Floyd Got Sensitive And Went Off..
Floyd's family didn't have money. His father was shot in the leg so his professional boxing career never took off. Why think his father went to jail for selling drugs. More bullshit and why should he take less money I don't blame any fighter for not wanting to take less money. They work for that money and somebody as skilled as PBF should paid accordingly for what he does in the ring and taking less money wouldn't make sense or cents.
I kind of agree with what you're saying but you've got to strike whilst the iron's hot, and KT wasn't getting any younger. And let's not forget that Floyd had no issues going to 154 after 3 fights at 147, 2 of which were fairly pointless and untaxing, and straight into a fight with a guy as accomplished as DLH.
The thing that annoys me most about the Tszyu fight not happening is that Floyd was gunning for Hatton whilst Hatton was gunning for KT. Hatton had achieved nothing really at that point yet Floyd was still hunting him instead of the daddy of the division. Although as a Hatton fan, I'm pretty happy it turned out the way it did.
Yeah, Mosley v KT would have been great. DLH v KT too.
Wow, thats not fair. You want floyd to fight all those years at 130, have just 2 fights at 135 and go straight to Tszyu at 140? You want him to have all those fights at 130, then his next 3 fights are JLC at 135 and Tszyu at 140? Im not saying he couldnt have done it but that would really put him at a disadvantage. Also, it was a nice fight to see but its not like a ton of people were clamoring for the fight. Still, alot of people thought it couldve happened if Tszyu wouldve beat Hatton. That was the perfect time. Floyd finally got the Gatti fight and if Tszyu wouldve won then that fight wouldve been huge.
The difference between Floyd-Tsyzu vs Floyd-Hatton is the timetable was a little different. The stuff I said about a Tszyu fight being like Tsyon-Lewis was true. However, right after that it changed because Floyd's contract was up with HBO and Showtime ended its long term contracts with fighters and switched to a fight by fight basis. Thats why Hatton fights on HBO now. Floyd isnt even under contract with HBO right now. I wouldve loved to see that fight though but it was just weird timing. A more reasonable fight was Mosley vs Tszyu. That fight shouldve definatly happened
Yeah, there wasn't that much time for a Tszyu fight whilst Floyd was actually at 140 due KT's layoff. I just wished Floyd had moved up earlier instead of fucking around with guys like N'dou and Sosa and not taken fights like Brusseles and Corley when he actually got to 140. He should have gone straight for Kostya after the 2nd Castillo fight, with maybe 1 warm up at the weight. I guess the Judah destruction put a few seeds of doubt in his mind.
The networks may have played a part but you could say the same thing about a Hatton fight, he was a Showtime fighter back then too. So was Naz as I recall.

Dont forget that at that time Naz was the man. He was getting more hype then nearly anyone in boxing and he was at 126 while Floyd was at 130. Floyd even said that he would try to meet him at 128. I dont blame Naz for turning it down but Floyd did try. The Tszyu fight was always one of those problem fights. 1st off they were on seperate networks and they didnt make enough money to have the 2 come together like Tyson-Lewis. 2nd, Floyd was always smaller and by time he got to 140, Tszyu was always inactive and injuried
