What do you believe caused Roy Jones Jr.'s sudden decline in 2003? In your opinion was it the having to lose 25 lbs. of muscle and old age or was it that the BALCO story broke and Roy got off performancing enhancing steroids that made him perform super human? I'm interested to see these poll results.
You know whats odd, Roy a big draw and star of boxing. Why the hell would he always want to fight in lowly Florida, where he could pull the strings in his home town....
Roy has fought all over the damn country. Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas, Biloxi, New Orleans, Indiana, Portland, Connecticut. The man has fought in IDAHO!!!!
He can't take fights in his home state? smh.

Who's more credible you or the IBF
Not to mention him refusing a B sample....................
I'm only posting what I've read. No need to take senseless shots.

When you come up with evidence that he was a career PED user, let me know. Attention whores never get attention from me. I deal with facts, not opinions when a fighter is accused of PED use. Hmu when you get dat info.
No it isn't odd. He got tired halfway through the first Tarver fight. He was never the same physically after that. Roy never got tired in a fight before. Tarver didn't even put that kind of pressure on Roy for Roy to waste that kind if energy.

The weight and age. Although it seems a bit odd how rapidly he declined....

He definately used anabolic steorids to bulk up, train and recover faster in preparation for the Ruiz fight. They even helped his punch resistance. He probably did a mega cycle compared to the micro dosing he was doing at LHW.
But what goes up must come down. In a desperate attempt to make LHW Jones had to cut weight so fast which required him to cycle off. The beating he took from Tarver while being drained, permanently damaged his punch resistance.
Also it's not a coincidence that Jones' form started declining at same time that new advanced testing was introduced. The new test could easily detect the primative steroid called nandrolone which Roy was using.
Roy never tested positive for steroids. He was just physically gifted with out of this world reflexes, speed and power. After capturing the HW he should have retired. He would be considered top 10 ATG IMO, though very debatable of course.
His next fight was also a first-time boxing event for a venue, as he traveled to Indianapolis and retained his title with an 11-round technical knockout over Richard Hall at the Conseco Fieldhouse. A post-fight drug test showed that both Jones and Hall tested positive for androstenedione which was available legally over-the-counter at that time but banned by the IBF. The results of Jones' next two drug tests, which were negative, were sent to the Indiana Boxing Commission. The IBF chose not to take any action against Jones or Hall.
thank you.
awaits sbbigmike's response....

Lets not act like roy put on 35-40 pounds of muscle he simply fought at his walk around weight, if you watched Roy like I did you'll notice after he was popped his whole muscle definition changed he was ripped from front to back shredded like a horse, after he was popped his face became sunken he had back flab and he no longer was nimble on his feet he had to sit on the ropes to get his counters off.....
Roy was a ****ing roiding cheat, deal with it......Guys, he just wants attention. Look at what he's writing, lmao.
How many loses did ray robinson have , how about Ali,duran and hagler?
How about jack johnson??
Fighters make mistakes with weight and or get old and decline, or need money.
Pre failed test
42-1 with 34 ko's which could have easily been 43-0 with 35 ko's
Post failed test
14-7 with only 6 ko's
That's all you need to know about Roy
That's it, cool. So you didn't really have anything to say, lmao?
Its fact that he was popped for roids
It's fact that he was a notorius partier that smoked and drunk and hung with rappers boasting about, have you not seen his video I smoke I drink, he wasnt no gym rat, he fired his pops cause he was too hard on him, he was a roider, that feasted on bums
I could do this all night:boxing:
it's a fact that he tested positive one time. he said it was ripped fuel. the commission never said what exactly it was for. it's also a fact that hall tested positive as well. that does not make it a fact that roy was on anabolic steroids his entire career.
show me a picture during that time of a fat, out of shape roy jones then...
how dare someone use facts to back up their argument...

that was the fight prior dumbass. he looked the same at lt. heavy that he always did. I wouldn't compare a lt. heavy to a heavyweight picture.
roy's fight night weight vs. gonzalez was 176. how the **** do you figure he walked around over 190? gtfoh...Roy was like Hopkins and Floyd. he always stayed in shape.
roy actually weighed 199 vs. ruiz. watch a documentary called "the sweet science". mark ratner read the scale wrong.
