1. Wlad
2. Chagaev
3. Maskaev
4. Imbragimov
I cant understand why some of u guys have Imbragimov up as number 2 he looked very plain the other night I think any of the other title holders would knock him out. Its a sad state of affairs as apart from wlad the other champs are not top class.
this is a sorry time to be a fan of heavyweight boxing. without a doubt, the absolute worst period in heavyweight history. I don't think there's a guy in the top 10 that could have even been considered a contender in any other era.
there you go crying again becuase your boys rahman and toney are finished. there's been worse eras and there are several good europeans that would have at least competed in most eras. wlad,,vitali,,,,chageav,,and peter with his chin and power
Do a search, find the old polls, and read the comments on the threads. About 80% of voters chose Rahman. By the way, Maskaev had 10 straight wins before facing Rahman, why were you not sure if he had anything left?
THAT PROVES NOTHING THAT WAS A CLOSE FIGHT(RAHMAN MASKAV ) ... BUT AS FOR BRIGGS SULTAN.. I THOUGHT SULTAN WAS THE BETTER FIGHTER BUT BRIGGS IS SO DAMN BIG AT 275 ALMOST PURE MUSCLE HOW CAN YOU NOT THINK HE WILL WIN.. ITS NOT HE RACE THAT BLINDS ITS HIS BODY
Vitali Klitschko and Sam Peter (if he keeps improving) could probably hold their own in other eras, but you can't tell me any of the other guys are elite fighters. Name one guy who has even made two successful title defenses against quality opposition. None of them have or can for that matter. Right now I'm just waiting for Peter vs. Vitali so we can have a decent heavyweight champion.
You can't honestly tell me you think Ibragimov, Chagaev, Maskaev, Briggs, Liakhovich, Brewster, Valuev, etc are good. None of you really believe that.
Wlad is probably the best, but everything else is less clear. What do you think?
1. Wlad
2. Sultan
3. Chagaev
4. Maskaev
1. Wlad
2.Chagaev
3. Ibragimov
4. Maskaev
The reason mine is with Chagaev at 2 is because he beat a guy more active and bigger than Briggs.....while Briggs hits harder I don't think he is as hard to beat using the style both Sultan and Ruslan used to beat their Giant foes.
klitschko
maskaev
chagaev
ibragimov
though i think chagaev and sultan are superior to maskaev in skills i truly believe the intangibles are what separate guys on the highest level.. maskaev has made a lot of sacrifice to get where he is and showed true heart knocking rahman out in the 12th... for that reason i put him 2nd..
sultan goes last for me cause he has already shown up out of shape for 1 important fight and youd be foolish to think it wont happen again
Here's my rankings
1. Wladimir Klitschko
Everyone else = Garbage (other than toney)
and some nutcases on ESB had byrd to KO Wlad, trust me, that was a sad day for boxing.
Yet, take a look at old polls on this site. Most people picked Briggs over Ibragimov, Rahman to beat Maskaev, and Byrd to beat Wladimir. Virtually everyone picked Brewster to beat Lyakhovich.
Is it possible that many of us underestimate the capabilities of fighters from over there? Are we unfairly negative in our evaluation of them? Is it so difficult to admit that THEY'RE REALLY GOOD?
OK, it definately isn't true that most people picked Byrd over Wlad. Virtually everyone thought Wlad would win that one.
I definately had Ibragimov over Briggs and I think the majority of people did. I was 50/50 on Maskaev versus Rahman simply because I hadn't seen Maskaev fight since his loss to Lance Whitaker so I wasn't sure what he had left. I'll admit I was leaning towards Rahman but if the last time I saw Maskaev he was laid out in 2 by Whitaker who can blame me?
Wlad is probably the best, but everything else is less clear. What do you think?
1. Wlad
2. Sultan
3. Chagaev
4. Maskaev
1. Wlad
2. Chugaev
3. Ibragimov
4. Maskaev
I think Chris Byrd and Sam Peter can both probably beat 3 out of the 4 titlists.
1. Wlad
2. Chagaev
3. Maskaev
4. Ibragimov
This is how I see it. I havent seen anything from those guys yet that tells me they can take Wlad's right hand. I still think they are good fighters though.
I think jd's partially right. I think alot of racism is in this sport, and the fact that all 4 people who hold belts are white pisses off some people on this forum. :owned:
Racism
I dont think theres any racism in the sport, people arent bothered about boxers race or skin colour they just like good boxers and want HWs to be good.
He is right though, none of these guys would have been able to hold their own in an earlier era except for Wlad/Peter and maybe thats pushing it.
Chagaev beat Savon twice, and Sultan beat Savon at the Olympics in the golden medal match but was robbed. Savon is the greatest amateur HW boxer of all times. I think Chagaev and Ibragimov are excellent boxers. I completely disagree with posts characterizing them as "shit".
Are ppl idiots on here? Wlad or Vitali would give any other champion in any era problems, if not beat them.
Yes they are! This gut thinks that Wlad would not be contender even in 80's when guys like Tubbs held titles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
