Fights that Audley was either officially scheduled to take which fell through, or which were actually being negotiated but were never made.
Looking back, what do you think would have happened in them?
Greg Wedlake
Luke Simpkin
Tommy Connelly
Colin Wilson
Orlin Norris
Steffen Nielsen
Terry Smith
Samuel Peter
Calvin Brock
Kertson Manswell
Matt Skelton
Haven't included Herbie Hide or anybody else who we talked about but was never in reality likely to fight Audley.
he would knock my ass out in less then 30 seconds though
Don't be too hard on yourself, it would take him longer than 30secs to throw his 1st tentative jab.
Add Marcus McIntyre to the list as well.
Simpkin/Wedlake - Would've presumably been decent early victories and record padders, especially Simpkin since he's someone the average British fight fan can at least relate to. That said, failing to stop Simpkin would've warranted more criticism than when he were taken the distance by Derek McCafferty, purely because of the fact he's probably more known and not necessarily because he's any less 'durable'.
Connelly - The bout probably would've been very Brian Nix-ish? Slow pace, Audley forcing the stoppage whenever he wanted to.
Wilson - A pointless exercise. Surely all he had to offer was his stance?
Norris - Would've made Audley look bad due to the massive size deficit not dictating a stoppage. I do feel he could've potentially taken everything Audley threw at him over 12 rounds. Public perception aside, I believe this would've been good matchmaking.
Nielsen - Limited. Would've expected Audley to stop him and look good doing it.
Terry Smith - Depends on when they would've met. When was this bout on the verge of being scheduled? The older he's got, the less threatening he has become. The encounter might have been Mark Krence-ish at best if 5-6 years ago?
Peter - Difficult to deny that he's improved since losing to Audley in the amateurs. Might've weared Audley down 'en route to a late stoppage? Or would
Brock - Audley with a unanimous decision or Brock forcing a stoppage pretty much at any point from the opening bell until the 12th round.
Manswell - Never seen him fight as a pro...could've potentially outworked Audley? Much would presumably depend on how much they sparred with each other and who learned the most about the other.
Skelton - His work rate might give Audley problems. Let's hope that they do eventually meet and this doesn't prove to be the case.
Bruno - Since, if I remember correctly, Bruno wasn't even looking to have a tune-up, age and 7-8 years of ring rust couldve rendered him ineffectual. Bruno's stamina was always a bit suspect (not saying Audley's isn't!) and so one can only assume this would've been even more of an issue, perhaps leading to a brave effort and hundreds of "Brunooooo" chants before being stopped on his feet late on?
McIntyre - Only seen him once and he looked very, VERY easy to hit. Audley KO, if not a comfortable decision?
