Does anyone else hate that HBO interpreter?

This one time after the de la hoya v.s chavez 1 fight larry was interviewing chavez and I believe torres was translating and larry asked chavez " was it you that backed out of the fight or was it youre corner" and torres translated "te rajaste tu? o te hicieron que te rajaras" in english it means did you pussy out or did youre corner make you puss out? wich in spanish the translation is even more offensive chavez started yelling "bullshit! bullshit" what the fuck? and torres was trying to calm chavez down and chavez slapped his hand away from him and started yelling at torres saying to say things correctly.. That was the best.

Yeah for such a high quality broadcast and presentation that they make themselves out to have, they sure picked a shitty translator. I like that Jerry Olaya guy. He's pretty accurate though I dun like when he's talking at the same time with the boxer cause it can get confusing and hard to hear. Torres is funny. He does a lot of misinterpretting and sometimes runs shit off his head. I guess he figures, he's translating for the spanish people who don't know a word of english and the english people listening don't know a word of spanish. He wins!

He is fucking annoying. He cannot translate if his life depended on it. The guy they should be paying the big bucks is the guy from Telefutura, who speaks both Spanish and English fluently. I mean that guy makes no mistakes.

LOL, i remember torres sayin those things in the 3rd fight with barrera and morales, he even said the "pour some water on my balls" line in the 2nd morales v barrera fight also. and in the 3rd barrera fight with morales, after round 5 or 6, he is in barreras corner, and barreras brother is talkin in spanish, and then you hear torres translate and say something along the lines of: "you came to give him a beating, and your beating the SHIT out of him (morales) and thats what we came to do!" LOL. but sometimes he translates the wrong things, after morales lost his 3rd fight to barrera, larry merchant asked him why he cant let the bad blood go between him and barrera, and morales said something along the lines of "i have a lot of dignity unlike you larry merchant" or something like that...and ray torres just translated morales sayin i have a lot of dignity and made up some other things morales did not say...LOL!!! i fookin hate diplomats

Jerry Olaya is better, but he dosent let the boxer talk, he translates at the same time. TOrres is hilarious though, i like hearing him in the corner, i do speak spanish to me so it dosent matter, but i guess if you dont you want a great translator. I can't stand the guy either. He always say the same things over and over. I don't think he even tries to translate anything. Fortunately one of the people that I usually see fights with speaks some spanish and he translates if it is importat.

i can't stand that guy, his voice is annoying and he basically gives misinformation too. i've heard several times where the corner was saying one thing and he was saying another. i also remember a long time ago when he went off on a rant saying all this stuff that the fighter himself didn't even say, even the interviewer was like " did he say all that? " and torres just stood there like yeah, but no. each time i hear his voice it reminds me of a cat screeching after it's back legs been torn off!

It is a running joke with me and my friends that Ray Torres doesnt even speak spanish. "you got em, just hit em. you got em" The funniest thing for me is that I'm hispanic, born in Miami, I really don't speak spanish all that well, not as well as english anyways, & when i hear what this guy says it's fuckin' ridiculous, if you don't speak spanish you miss more then half of what's being said in a spanish speaking corner, I could do a much better job, & that's not just Torres, I made a thread bashing the translator of the Freitas fight cause he was literally saying the exact opposite of what the corner was telling him. I don't know if they really can't hear what's being said but they're fuckin' horrible.

I hate him, my Dad, and my brother hate him too. I told my Dad to go for Torres job and become the new HBO interpreter. I'd vote for him. The guy that they have on Showtime is way better. I can't understand how HBO are still employing that guy. As soon as it cuts to the corner, his voice brings this amateur quality to the whole show.
