I forget when the fight would have to take place if he did go through with it but Manny stated he needs at least 3 months to get his body back into fighting form. That's 3 months not training for a specific opponent. Then you top in the factor of at least 2months training for specific opponent and you got along wait. I'm sure he knew he wouldn't be in top form by the date required for the fight and had to back out on it.
