yeh your right the only real competition tyson fought in his prime was buster douglas and any real tysonfan can come up with at least 10 excuses as to why he lost tat fight!
yeah thats just ridiculious...
tucker landed one uppercut in the first round and tyson kept right on coming... there hasnt been a fighter yet that could beat a prime tyson.. he knocked larry holmes out in 4 rounds .. holmes beat ray mercer and gave holyfield hell with one shoulder..holmes has never been stopped only by tyson.. and if morrison did that to foreman tyson could do the same thing but with both hands .. morrison is a one armed fighter.. klitschos are way to slow but i think vitali would do better then wlad becuase hes 6'7 with that lean back defense wlad is more like a sitting duck arm blocker.. tyson countered to quick in his prime for the big fighters ... the douglass fight just goes to show you no man is invincable and one day there will be a better fighter then tyson just not today

Tucker fought well against Tyson, he landed his right uppercut quite alot then hurt his hand. Maybe ur thinking of Bonecrusher Smith. He held onto Tyson throughout that fight.
Also, Tyson was poor against Douglas, but he was in much much worse shape later on his career, the last few years.
I think a peak Tyson KO's Lewis and does well agaisnt any of the big men out there today.

Excellent post! I totally agree. I actually would see this fight going something like the Tony Tucker fight, where he tastes Tyson's power, and just decides to hug and hold the rest of the night instead of trying to stand up to Tyson like Holyfield and Douglas did. Also, people keep mentioning how Douglas beat Tyson, but Mike was in the worst shape of his career in that fight and Douglas was in his best, and Mike was still one second away from winning the bout.

What have you been watching? tyson fought guys bigger than lewis and chopped them down like trees, where was his height and size advantage when Frank Bruno had him beat?
Lol.
Where was his size adantage when mc call knocked him out cold?
and we might never know how good tyson's era was, mainly cos he destoyed pretty much everyone in it, lewis didnt want none of tyson when he was fighting on barry hearn cards against nobodies, its no coincidence that when tyson lost his best years in jail, THEN these guys started to come to the fore.
Who has lewis beat to call himself a legend? a shot tyson? past it holyfield?
19 year old tyson, the one who was undisputed champ would KO lewis, not cos lewis isnt good, he is, but because lewis cant handle a guy who can get past his jab,
Lewis is one of the most jab orientated fighters ever, and tyson at his best was faster, more powerful, and had just as good a defence as lewis, of course most people think he is a brawler, but had has amazing technique, hardly ever got hit, was methodical in his punches.
In short, there is no way lewis goes 12 rounds with tyson without getting hit clean, and he when he gets hit clean, he wont wanna get hit again,
Get underneath or past the jab, he doesnt like it, rahman KO'd him that way.
Tyson was well past it when he fought lewis, which is why lewis suddenly had the balls to fight him, before that it was
" I dont need tyson to cement my legacy" lol.
some people think the Lewis-Tyson fight would play out the same way as it would when tyson was in his prime,
anyone who thinks that, is delusional.
And as for ducking, Lewis didnt even wanna fight Chris Byrd, (he admitted it) he never fought a southpaw, wonder why, lol, could be something to do with this orthodox jab not being as effective.
Lewis has skills, but i havent seen a fighter make so much money off a jab, lol.
Dont be fooled, no way Lewis goes 12 rounds with a prime tyson without being hit clean, and when lewis gets hit clean by prime tyson, you'll need a dustpan and brush to clean the glass off the canvas.

How come people still say Tyson was a good fighter when he met Lewis?
Even Lewis said Tyson was shot.
We seem to forget this fight, just listen to the words said before Tyson lands that one big punch to KO Botha.
this video is more clear, but you have to click on the link

Now, compare with this version of Tyson

dustpan...nice imagery
He beat about a dozen fighters who became world champ at some point or other. Beat the 'next big things' in Golota, Briggs, Grant, Tua et al. Beat ONE all time great - Evander Holyfield, but his level of opposition was always at least above average after his win over Justin Fortune in 1995, unlike the Mike Tyson circus that was in operation from the get go. Lewis lost fair and square in his two defeats but at no point in his career was he so comprehensively out-boxed as Tyson was against Evander and LL. Tyson had more One punch KO power than Lewis ever dreamed of, but with regards to 'Technical_Skill'. Lewis knocked spots of him, add to that his size and reach advantage and their would only be one winner.
I'm going away now to think off all those 'greats' Tyson beat, as Lawrence Oates said, "...I may be sometime".
whats who lewis beat have anything to do with the opinion that lewis would beat any version of tyson? lewis was much better techniquely,,,stronger and harder htting than anyone tyson fought in his prime and tyson struggled with tall rangy fighters such as tony tucker who isnt nearly as good as lewis was. prime bowe and prime holyfield were better fighters than anyone in tysons era but they both ducked lewis for obvious reasons

both klits and lewis are both faster and harder hitting than douglass
Maybe thats true. But like i said, i believe Douglas beat Tyson with the perfect style and gameplan, not just his size and power. Plus Tyson wasnt at his best that night.
I just think a Tyson at his peak, with Rooney in his corner would be very difficult to beat no matter how big u are.
whoever says wlad or vitali could beat a prime tyson is completely full of shit. the fighters that wlad/vitali lost to aren't 1/4 the fighter a prime tyson was. i don't see wlad going 3 rounds with tyson. vitali might last 5 since he's got the better chin but tyson would be too much for him too. i'm not counting lewis since he is long retired, he would have stood a chance against a prime tyson. toney of a few years back would have survived to lose a decision. no one else in the division currently would have stood a chance.
vitali was only beat by lewis due to cut and byrd rotator cuff. wlad lost only 3 times in 51 fights. those losses espescially to purrity and brewster were clearly due to him not taking the oponnent seriously and not pacing himself. against tyson they'd both be in top form becuase they know he'd be no pushover and if you wanna use your theory it applies to tyson as well. both klits are much better and harder hitting than buster douglass

So lewis wasnt in a weak era? lmao.
Sorry where was lewis when tyson was in his peak?
ohh yeahhh, fighting on barry hearn cards, when tyson was 19 and undisputed champ.
So answer the question, apart from a totally shot tyson, and a past his best (according to some) holyfield, (who is a blown up cruiserweight)
Which of these other so-called legends has lewis beat? please tell me, lol.

What about Razor Ruddock, did he punch like a pussy-cat.
Taller guys also have stamina trouble.
We have also seen Lewis and Wlad get knocked out from one big punch, while Tyson takes a beating before going down.
I also would not say Lewis is faster than Douglas. Douglas had very good speed, when in shape.
So lewis wasnt in a weak era? lmao.

Douglas hit Tyson alot and it took him 10 rounds. Tyson was not at his best.
Lewis took 8 rounds and Tyson was near retirement.
Lewis is an ATG.
The fighters of today arent.
Douglas fought an expectional fight. I dont think one of the giant heavyweights round today could fight like that. They are bigger and slower. Douglas didnt beat Tyson because of his size, but his style and his gameplan. IMO. The big weight advantage certainly helped, but Tyson could handle the vast majority of heavyweights of the same size.
both klits and lewis are both faster and harder hitting than douglass
untouchable to the best fighters in a weak era. he wouldnt have been untouchable had lewis and the klits been around then. he never faced a guy with both a combination of size,,power and good technique. the closest was douglass who finally happened to take a fight seriously and got himself into great condition and squashed tyson. buster hits no where near as hard as lewis or the klits
So lewis wasnt in a weak era? lmao.

No one around now at heavyweight could beat a peak Mike Tyson, If McCall can KO Lewis the way he did then a peak Mike Tyson could and would KO him the same way.
The Klits are very overrated, theres no one about today whose anything special. The 80s heavyweights mightnt have been great but Holmes was something special and Tyson beat him, yeah people will say holmes was past it though, but people forget he went the distance with Evander 4 years after this and later still beat Mercer so he wasnt as finished as people make out. Tyson only looked bad when he hadnt trained properly any other time when he was up for a fight and trained right I'd pick him to beat anyone from any era.
Tyson was a tough boy and could take his punishment. Noone would have an easy match with Tyson. Who knows what would happen with Ali, Lennox, Vitali etc. But they would have had to nail him to the floor.
At his best Tyson was fearsome. Tony Tucker said he was beatable but there just werent anyone around to do it at the time.
