The Miranda Taylor exchange is exactly why shit talking is good for any sport. It don't matter if the man eventually backs up his big talk or not. Its the drama created that will get attention and make people curious to see who's making the noise. Miranda did himself all sorts of favors by rattling Jermain. If both win their respective fights, its a given that they will meet in the ring. Boxing does not need another slow talking, soft spoken, boring-ass, goody goody like De La Hoya. Its about time we got some bad boys back in the sport. Make some Goddamn noise! :boxing:

did you even read what i had written? i said trash talking is not publicized. you don't see interviews with players talking about how they are going to make the other team thier bitch.
and i'm almost sure i've seen more basketball than you have. i've watched basketball for approximately 20 years and had the nba league pass the last 5 or 6 years. i have well over 250 games on tape not including specials like all star games, dunk comps, documentaries, etc.
so don't go telling me i don't know basketball.
I concede to your vast basketball watching experience. Basketball trash-talking is not pre-publicized a la boxers before a fight, but theres a load of it during the games. No much difference at the end of the day.
let me put it like this: if boxing was a ship, it doesnt need more cargo, it needs to stop sinking first.
Great analogy, but boxing is not a ship. Its a large entity that needs people watching and advertisers paying for spots. Miranda and hopefully more like him will be an asset not a detraction.
You're joking right? Shit talking is part and parcel of Basketball, actually of all professional sports. You must watch different sports channels than I do.

Covered, but not agreed upon by everyone. I definitely disagree. Boxing can use all the attention it can get. No company wants to pay big money for advertising in a sport nobody pays any attention to. :ugh:
and why would people WANT to pay attention to this sport?
mayweather/oscar brought plenty of attention, and it didnt do the sport any good. boxing is no different now than it was before the fight was even discussed.
attention and advertising aint gonna fix shit. like i said before, we need repairs, not additions.
besides, i don't see much trash talking in basketball, baseball, or football media. sure it goes on during a game, or in private. but it is hardly ever publicized because it is not needed.

of the many things boxing needs, shit talking is not one of them.
this sport doesnt need attention, it needs healing. we have covered this.

shit talking is not needed in boxing.
maybe if the greedy fucking promoters and managers create good fights, nobody would think that you would need trash talking in the sport.
back when boxing was the most popular sport, there really was not a whole lot of trash talking.
the sport itself should create an interest. but it is hard to do so when all the promoters and managers are sheltering thier fighters to try to make thier fighters appear as though they are a force.

i don't mind trash talking, i just don't care much for fighters who run thier mouths and feel that it wouldn't be as necessary to create drama this way if boxing was managed and promoted better.
