... still injured to some extent?
Some time ago, Klitschko could choose whether he wanted to fight Byrd or Brewster. He chose Byrd. Now once Brewster lost, and got injured in the process, he is willing to take the bout. :nonono:
for those of you who dont get it, wlad chose byrd instead of brewster for a few simple reasons. byrd was easier to negotiate with he went to germany and wasnt promoted by a certain murderer. Also, he was hoping brewster would also win so they could unify the titles in a rematch which would have been ideal for heavyweights... but i guess shit happens
How do you know anything about what he thinks? Are you in his camp? Are you psychic?
Wladimir Klitschko, for me, is a man who seems to be very carefully choosing his opponents. It's not surprising that he and his team are doing this though, after the Sanders loss in particular. This guy has a big hardcore fanbase, but regardless of the hot air they spew, this guy will have to fight everyone and beat them if he is to be recognised as the be best in the division, and more importantly, show that he can overcome his demons, which I personally think is unlikely.
I think that there will always be certain guys who will beat him, like Sanders and Shannon Briggs etc. No matter what people think of Lennox Lewis, no one can deny that the man fought and beat everyone he faced, and actively sought them out. Wladimir Klitschko has not shown he can do the same. He's just a guy with a huge amount of talent, but his flaw, which is a big flaw, will stop him from ever becoming a great champion.
You were doing fine until you started hypin up Lewis. He fought guys well after their prime.
He wanted a title as a priority, then to unify, then to avenge losses.
That explanation is a lot more believable than what the thread starter suggests.
Once again...who would you want him to fight since he can't get a unification bout...speak up. Or I guess you avoiding the question answers it...
Next to a unification bout, Brewster is the best route. I doubt many people will argue that.
I think something was wrong with him that night other then the fact he got tired quickly from using alot of his energy. I think he may have had the flu or something and wanted to end the fight early by ko'ing brewster or something, but you can tell he looks drugged up but I think he had the flu during this fight. I'm not taking anything away from Brewster, but even if he watches the fight he should be able to tell something was obviously wrong with wlad that night.
I think Wlad looked like a moron and a pussy for making excuses after the fight but I agree he looked as though something was wrong with him.
how the fuck can you say he was in terrible condition. he is one of the most in shape boxers out there.
don't know what you're talking about, do you?
wait, you must be a hater.
Naw, he was f*cking brewster up, until he ran out of gas... He will most likely knock brewster out this time...
he got tired in round 4 he was in terrible condition and deserved the L.
Wlad took a fight with Sam Peter to get the IBF #1 spot for a title shot against Chris Byrd. Sam Peter was and still is the biggest threat in the heavyweight division in terms of beating Wladimir Klitschko. After beating Peter there would be no reason for him to not take his rightfully earned title shot against Byrd.
Also, you say that he chose Byrd over Brewster, there is no proof that Brewster even wanted that fight. Why would Brewster want the fight? He beat Klitschko the first time and would have very little chance of beating him the second time.
wladimir is not chinny like a few of you insist. he has been caught really just once - against corrie sanders. he was caught because he was overlooking sanders, was distracted by girl problems, and didn't train seriously. basically, he didn't have the right mental state to fight an unpredictable hard hitting southpaw.
now brewster, obviously something was wrong with wladimir. i just rewatched the clip of the end of that fight on youtube and it indeed does look as strange as the first time i saw it. watch carefully around the 1:19 mark. watch wladimir get tripped by the ref.
yeah the ending to this fight was the strangest thing ever i never could have imagined brewster winning this fight... i love brewster for is action and double hop which tellegraphs his bomb and i loved wlad for coming back but do not hate on wlad he has done everthing he was suppose to i believe he can and will whoop these heavies asses long as he listens to emanuel
Peter reminds me of David Tua, has great power, and an iron chin....and in the heavyweight division, that's usually enough. Also all the knockouts generate a popularity too. I thought Peter could take his shots and eventually land the big one (just like I did when Tua fought Lewis), but we all know how both of those turned out :)
The people here who said Wlad avoids the top fighters, and took this fight because he thought Brewster was damaged...are just ignorant of the situation. Nothing personal against them, but they just don't follow boxing close enough, or "hate", and will always try to come up with arguements against Wlad. There are undisputable facts..
1) There are no Unification Bouts he can make for his next fight...they're all fighting, discussing "what-ifs" is irrelevant, they all have bouts looming.
2)The only way Don King will allow a Unification bout with his fighter, is if Wlad allows options, of course he won't do that...would you if you were Wlad?
3)Wlad fought Sam Peter, when there were far more risks than rewards for that fight, at the time almost everyone had Peter (myself included), as the top contender.
4) His last optional defense was against Calvin Brock, who at the time was also one of the top contenders, and he could have picked a far easier opponent.
Ok...noone has answered this, but who...if not Brewster..(since Unification is currently unavailable)...what fight could possibly be more exciting than Wlad versus Brewster...give me a name...then you will have a legitimate arguement, although I have a feeling I will hear the crickets chirping for a long time before anyone that blasts this fight responds to that...

or didnt prepare for a long fight? he was exhausted as exhausted gets no doubt,,,but he threw a lot of punches and clearly didnt respect brewsters chin. when you expect a short easy night and it doesnt go that way your in trouble mentally and physically. thats just my opinion on it. never know for sure what happened,,,but he was beyond simple fatigue
i understand your point. however, i believe wladimir when he said that he prepaired himself well and honestly didn't know what happened.
in my opinion, there is no way i would think he would under prepare considering what had happened not too long before that - the sanders fight.
that, and he looked more sleepy than exhausted. professional boxers of wladimir's caliber are not going to get so exhausted in 4 rounds that they cannot even walk or even raise thier arms up.
i'm sure you know that wladimir stays in shape even when he is not training for a fight. and he is also still very very young to this day. that is why i don't see it being a stamina problem. wladimir's fight vs brewster was his 45th fight i believe. he's professional enough to know if he needs to take a round off.
The reason why Wlad fought Byrd over Brewster is because he was ranked # 1 contender by IBF, the IBF has more credibility than the WBO, and because Byrd was considered the best champion of the four.
Wlad is now fighting Brewster because A) he wants to avenge his loss and B) all the other titlists were tied up and Brewster’s one of the best contenders in the division.
I don't know but, this sounds like a "Hate" thread to me...
It's definitely a hate thread, Boston, and the sad thing is, Wlad's a great guy. A true gentleman. He doesn't deserve all the hate that flies his way.
yeah, something out of the norm happened. don't know what, but it was not something i've seen in more than 10 years of watching the sport.
just look at him. for no apparent reason, he couldn't even keep his eyes open. couldn't even keep his eyes open. i'd love to see how anyone can explain that in normal boxing terms. looked like he took a big dose of sleeping medication or stayed up for 3 days straight.

Wlad does look drugged - something crooked happened here.

You seem to not be taking a couple of things into consideration, Bobby.
First, what makes you think that who a boxer fights is solely up to him personally?
And second, dont you think it's possible that people duck WLAD? I mean, hell, all he does is K people TFO. I'd duck him, too.
