It (Castillo fight) can't be anything other than a fantastic fight, it could be quite frightening.
Castillo, unlike Tszyu, doesn't give ground and fights on the front foot. He's going to stand toe-to-toe.
I simply wasn't in good physical condition for my last two fights, and simply wasn't in good mental condition for the Maussa fight for obvious reasons there.
With (Luis) Collazo I just felt heavy on my feet and that my body was failing me so I just had to gut it out the best I could. That was a very entertaining fight.
I did have a head cold and chest infection against (Juan) Urango, yes, but please don't think I'm using it as an excuse - I'm not.
I accept full responsibility, I should have went over (to the States) four weeks prior (to the Urango fight).
But I'm still here, I'm still undefeated and I'm raring to make up for it with my best fight yet.
And trust me it will be, I'm more than willing to risk losing and getting knocked out just to thrill the fans!
But remember this - your going to have to nail me to the ring to beat me, especially when I'm 100% mentally and physically.
Maybe at the back of my mind I took my foot off the gas and my performances were below par.
There's no chance of that this time because I'm fighting one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
Also, southpaws aren't easy to look good against so it hasn't been easy to shine. But this time I'm meeting an orthodox fighter.
I've not felt this excited since I fought Kostya Tszyu.
Diego Corrales' fight with Castillo was one of the fights of the century, and my style's maybe more exciting than Corrales'.
I understand most Americans haven't really seen the best of Ricky Hatton yet.
That's all going to change. Your going to see me stepping off to the side instead of stepping back or smothering my opponents work.
Your going to see big body shots, bloody faces and the works. Your going to see exchanges.
Good shat.
Why do you hate Hatton, $iN? Maybe I should start a thread "Why does $iN Hate Ricky Hatton?" and then make it a poll, with four or options...
I've seen an interesting pattern to his posts.
He hates Hatton because he loves Mayweather. Virtually EVERY thread he creates is some way involving PBF. If its criticising Hatton as a way of bigging PBF up, or talking about how great PBF is, or putting down other people's achievements so as to accentuate PBF's. Its truly worrying.
Of course, the rest of his threads are anti-Hatton or anti-Calzaghe threads.
Its a dismal trend.
Make sure that if you create the poll, you ignore the results that you dont agree with, or twist them to back up your argument.
Hatton didn't have to promise it there styles dictate it. Unfortunately this fight will probably only see about 1/5 of the PPV sales that PBF vs DLH received. This despite it probably being a FOTY candidate.
well its not PPV.
This should be a great fight, foty maybe.
But if at anytime Castillo lands a HUGE shot, and Hatton goes down, it'll turn into a clinch fest.
But If Hatton gets hurt and stays up, i think the fight will go on with its great action.
And while Castillo probably has the power at 140 to hurt Hatton, Hatton definetly doesnt have the power to hurt Castillo.
Hatton would have to work that body like a mine and thats whats gonna make this fight hallacious.
You cant clinch and hit the body at the same time
To be fair tho Riz, don't you think he's had some really good performances too? I know you probably think Witter could take him, and I might have to agree, but Hatton's looked pretty good sometimes (Tho I admit, not for AGES...)
agree with u, he has def looked very good breaking down fighters at domestic level and other C or D level fighters like stewart, tackie and oliveira. but as soon as he stepped up a lil bit he has not looked good at all. even zoo i thought he only won it because of all the cheating...
his aggresive style is not effective at this level imo. and his boxing skills are terrible, tho it may look good to some against tackie's and urango's of the world. against a top skilled fighter he cannot brawl or box.
im not even sure if hatton will look good against the brawling castillo, as he had his chance to look good against urango and maussa but didnt.
hugh grant...you still havent proved to me that you arent actually Hatton. Or has Hatton done something for you before like helped you with all his money. Why would you stand up for him this much? There isnt a reason why Castillo wouldnt do better than Collazo. We know how close it was with Hatton and Collazo. Isnt your answer staring you in the face?
Well its obvious im not Hatton. My real name is Hugh Grant. I dont go overboard with sticking up for Hatton. If i was Hatton i would be starting thread up like "Hatton would destroy PBF in 5 rounds, or " Is Hatton the No1 p4p in the world right now", which i dont. I havent started any threads on Hatton. I only answer when someone talks trash. And i dont know Hatton. And why shouldnt i stand up for Hatton?. He is a good guy. I never used to stand up for him, but that is when i didnt know what he is like. I ask you why you stand up for PBF so much, when he hasnt shown himself to be the most pleasantist of people.
I would understand if you said he was a great boxer and left it at that. But the fawning is a bit too much to digest at times. Its like your trying to write your own legacy!
hatton always promises thrillers and talks shit before the fight about his style being exciting.... then after he always gives excuses for his shit performance.
And makes a ton of excuses in the process...
Are they excuses, or explanations?
The point is that Hatton recognises his faults and may make excuses or give explanations for them, but he also admits that it shouldnt have made much of a difference and he still won.
It takes guts for that. Look at all the boxers who perform below average or not convincingly and wont even recognise the fact. Take the PBF vs DLH fight (which I'm sure that you love to), Floyd didnt get off his heels all night. Back foot all night. Running away all night. Wasnt overly convincing at all. Yet what is his verdict on it? Great performance, great win, entertaining fight, never in any doubt at all, then has the audacity to say that if the fans are stupid enough to pay megabucks for them to fight again...he wont just do exactly the same again.
If he was Hatton his posts will be littered with "like", "y'know" and "to be honest with yer". And he would never refer to "Hatton". He would only refer to "Ricky Hatton".
Lol, Having an accent doesn't mean he would type with that accent and spell his words like that.
ugh grant...you still havent proved to me that you arent actually Hatton.

He has admitted he wasnt great in his last fights. But he is talking good now. I woulndt want to face Hatton if he is feeling good.
And when he said he felt good before boxing Collazo, it was the truth. Just that when he actually got in the ring he didnt feel right. That is just him telling it like it is.
Hmmm he says he not using excuses, but.
Maussa- Wasnt in good mental condition
Collazo- Felt heavy on his feet (despite earlier saying he never felt better)
Urango - Said he was in top shape, then after the fight he claimed he had the flu and nearly had to pull out.
Are these not excuses?
Yes ricky is one the nicest people in boxing, no question
Thats my man HATTON (take no notice of the picture below) and he is going to win either by stoppage or decision bt it will be a hard fight for both...oh ye every1 needs to luk out for me on TV for this fight cuz i'll be ther with Team Hatton so watch out!!!
Whatever....win,lose or draw. But please no excuses afterwards.I have read people on these threads offer up everything for his recent performances.
"He moved up in weight"..."he had a chest cold during training"..."his holding was strategy"...and on and on.
It should be a good fight, and many times better than last weeks bullcrap.
Hatton wins with a late stoppage or KO....
