However, I don't think Winky could make the 154 lb. limit any more so I think Floyd will remain the king of those below middleweight for a long time.
I wish Floyd could get down to 140 and fight Pac but I doubt he can make 140 anymore. It would be a great fight, tho.
I'd say I'd like to see him fvck up Ricky Hatton but I don't think Ricky gets by JLC, so it's a moot point.
Man the welterweight division is nice. So many fights can be made. I forgot about Berto. Let him fight Clottey lol.
lol ur funny clottey would murder berto
im not sayn that how it works
but floyd 10 time better then vargas
n if winky ever did come down to 154
floyd wood beat him.. plain n simple
That Vargas fight's score is controversial I have heard. Vargas was a huge name back then, because he was still the young, undefeated Vargas, and Winky was that dude who fought out of the country all the time. No one knew who he was, that was really his first big coming out party, but it tooks wins over Mosley to get him recognized seriously.
Plus, Floyd fights totally different style than Vargas. It'd be a fight like none seen before (at least by people in our era).
do you think he can knock floyd out?
No, Winky doesn't hit all that hard... he is just an absolute defensive master. He basically can cover the top of his head down to his waistline with his long arms, and only stops doing that to throw out his jab, or once in a blue moon, his straight left hand. A very tough fighter to beat that many people think is boring as hell.
Yes, I think you're right. I didn't think so at the time, but now I think he can make it. I don't know if it's fairly easily, but I think he can for a big fight like that. I don't think he wanted to do it to fight Ricky so he'd have a bit more of an advantage.
I think he makes it easily. He walks around at 148... Baldomir walked around at 190 and still made the 147 limit. Hatton walks around at 160 and consistently made the 140 limit.
I bet on Hatton vs JLC looks like you keep picking the loser.
There is no mention in this thread about Hatton-JLC so why bring it up here? Yes, I picked Castillo, as did half the world at the time. Nobody expected Castillo to get old overnight.
Prime Castillo still mangles a prime Hatton.
I know this is an old post, but PBF makes the 140 limit fairly easily.

If Floyd were to let Cotto land as many clean body shots as he allowed Oscar then I think he would find himself in some trouble. Also, Mayweathers skills are on a different level to Hatton's but Hatton has fought clever fights in the past and with the right tactics he could trouble Mayweather.
all true,
Cotto: Floyd is there for body shots and he would need to get real aggressive with Cotto or things could get ugly.
Hatton: probably no chance but entertaining
Margarito: maybe but it depends on his next performance
Mosley: from what I seen against DLH mosley has a very good chance of beating Floyd
Cintron: This would be a nice fight for Floyd who could probably administer the ass beating he's always talkin about handing out
Collazo: I think this dudes game south paw style makes him a live dog against most.
Williams:see margarito but what a freak show
Winky: could get back to 154 and would give floyd fits, Winky would be the favorite IMO
I don't think that Mosley would have a chance against Floyd. I think it would be about the same as the DLH fight only Mosley doesn't throw as many combinations as DLH did and he'd try to hug it out with Mayweather more often, which would give lil' Floyd the advantage, IMHO.
The point is most people who feel that Floyd can be beaten feel that raining in body shots is one of the most effective tools you can use in your quest to beat Floyd. You don't need to be the fastest fighter in the world to do this but you do need to be either powerful or accurate. In that respect, I think Cotto could potentially put a dent in his armour as could Margarito and Hatton who are prepared to take risks when it matters.
I agree with that effecive body shots could wear down Floyd, but I feel that you do have to have great speed to compete with Mayweather. I know sometimes great power can stop speed, but in Mayweather's case that doesnt happen.
Cotto's body shots could have an effect on Floyd, but Im sure Floyd would figure out a strategy to stop the punches and Cotto is too slow to have a chance. He would stalk Mayweather, but wouldn't be able to find him. Same way with Hatton and Magarito. They would try to provide pressure, but Floyd would slip out, tie up, or block there shots. Then in the middle of the ring Floyd would destroy them.
Oscar and Cotto are completely different fighters. DLH's body shots didn't have a meaningful effect on Floyd. If they did Floyd wouldn't have smiled when he was hitting him. Cotto wouldn't fight the same way DLH did.
Cotto is also slower than DLH, which is a very bad thing for Cotto if they fought.
Only Winky and Mosley would have a chance at beating Floyd 154 and below IMO. Hatton would get outboxed all night. Winky is not going from somewhere around 170 and then to 154. I don't see it. The fights that can be made IMO are...
Floyd vs Winner of Williams/Margarito
Floyd vs Mosley
Floyd vs Winner of Cotto/Judah (If it was Judah I don't know if people wanna see a rematch)
I agree with your idea...but I think it would be better if Floyd faces Mosley first(hes considered best at WW now), in the meanwhile, the Cotto-Judah and Margarito-Williams fights take place. Then the winner of these two fights fight each other, and the winner of these 4 fighters fight Floyd(if Floyd is successful against Mosley)
Wishful thinking Im sure, but its always fun to think of stuff like that.
If Cory somehow beats Taylor, that would definately be a big fight for Floyd.
If Wright beats Hopkins, then its an absolute must for Floyd to fight Winky. I personally think Wright is a real bad matchup for Floyd, but that would be a HUGE win IF he could pull it off...especially a Wright coming off a win off of a Hopkins thats coming off a win against the recongnized #1 Light Heavyweight in the world :hail:
I doubt any of this will happen though, haha. We'll see.

What about Mosley, Cotto and Margarito. Don't you envisage any of them giving Floyd problems?
BTW, Hatton will KO Castillo.
Cotto is slow.
Margarito, PBF's defense is too good.
Mosley is the only 1 i can see to beat Pretty Boy Chicken.
