Yes I thought Floyd won. He did a 'good' job. No need to bring Oscar into this. If Floyd is happy with himself, let him retire. It's his right. There's something to be said for sticking to your word. But it's simple for you Floyd fans:
If you are happy and 100% satisfied with the way Floyd fought Saturday night, then you are either very easily satisfied, or you are sycophantic. In other words, you do not question anything Floyd does, and your view of reality is askew.
Floyd did not give his best; did not show the fans what we wanted.
He will be remembered as a great fighter who did not quite satisfy, if he stays retired.
Not true, 130 was cleaned out. Also it not that much talent at 147, maybe 2 contenders and all the others are overrated.
At 130 mayweather OWNED the WBC. But what about, WBA, IBF,?? That, my Brother, is CLEANING HOUSE! UNDISPUTED! The last one to Unify was Zab Super Judha. Though Tata Baldomir beat Zab for the WBC (which Floyd owns) None of the others (because of Sanctioning Fees) were "WON" by Baldomir, thus leaving them Vacant, only to be claimed by Cotto..WBA, Cintron..IBF...and Margarito hasn't lost in almost 10 years...So what in world do you mean there is NOT MUCH TALENT??!!
I think its floyds choice!!! he has made a name for himself in History!!! Id still like to see him fight again because floyd has alot of good options out there!!!
I watched the fight again Sat. in rounds 1,5,9, 10 and 12 Floyd stands right in front of DLH and even backs him up at times. When in this fight did Floyd run?
he didnt, he stood there, peppered dlh with jabs, left hooks and right hands, and made dlh look foolish by making him miss over and over and over again.
Yes I agree, which is why I dont want the rematch. I though oscar won THAT PARTICULAR fight, but we cant kid ourselves as to who would win if PBF grew some nads.
You either are retarted or have absolutly NO CLUE how to score a boxing match.
There is absolutly no case in which any non mentally handicapped person could have made for Oscar winning that fight.
none at all.
Mayweather wants to retire, hey it's his life right. BUT...a true Champion isn't satisfied with YESTERDAY's Victories. There are ALWAYS bigger challenges ahead.
Three UPS....
1. P4P, Great Technician
2. 5 world Titles, 5 Divisions
3. Never been stopped
Three DOWNS...
1. Didn't fight a YOUNG, hungry fighter
2. Did not "clean-out" ANY Division (WW is FULL of talent!)
3. "What IF" will always follow Pretty Boy!
What are you talking about?
How about Deigo Corrales at 33-0 and rated #5 p4p by the ring??

I don't know about the punch stat thing being rigged but it did cross my mind that maybe Floyd was carrying him and not making him look so bad for a 2nd fight. Cause when he did open up, it was ugly. He was catching Oscar with everything. And oscar did block some jabs but that was really it. floyd was pretty much landing everything else. Them hooks was right on the ear.

It wouldve been nice if he threw some real combinations instead of 1-2's. More and more I think about it, more it seems Floyd let oscar survive for a rematch and the punch counters rigged the fight making sure floyd would win by giving floyd bs lands when they were clearly caught.

boxing is a sport before it is something war battle
Floyd showed the boxing sport that some people see it as unintersting if you dont like the stuff i think you will find K-1 more intersting
:/ yeah we're all really illogical.
The problem was, Floyd managed to not get hit but its not like he hit significantly(punchstats were inflated, any time Floyd hit leather it was apparently counted as a power shot, scoring based more on sound than on reality).
Perhaps punchstats were inflated. They are usually off. Floyd landed far more clean flush punches than Oscar did. Floyd made Oscar miss more than half the punches he threw. Sorry, but to me that is good boxing. Guess it is illogical of me and anyone else that enjoys a good defensive bout.
Yes. I was happy with the fight. I found it entertaining. I enjoy defensive fighters. I like watching boxers who are so fast they can hit without getting hit. Counter punches are exciting.
Sorry I have no comparisons of great fighters, why bother. Those who dislike PBF will never be moved to like him. No matter who he fights at whatever weight.

Second viewing I had the fight 7-5 for Mayweather. I had it 4-4 through 8 and I can easily see someone having it 5-3 either way since a couple rounds were close. Rounds 9, 10, and 2:30 of round 11 were dominated by Floyd. Thats where he won the fight imo. I noticed Oscar had great defense through 8 rounds. He picked off a lot of shots that I didnt notice when I first saw it. It was a good, entertaining fight, and Floyd dominates a rematch.
I agree. I also scored it 7-5 this weekend when I rewatched it without the intense atmosphere and all the hype. It was such an event on first viewing it neccesitated another watch and a focused scoring.

It wasnt his best fight but it was the biggest fight he has had!!! So i think he may have been nervous for this one but he won it anyway!!! If he does fight on ill be more than happy to watch him again!!! Gatti was the most impressive win he has had!!!
You must have watched a different Roy vs. Ruiz fight. Although I do agree that Jones had Ruiz hurt for an instant in that fifth round.
but you still haven't answered me about taking rounds off.
You only responded with "critiques of Roy apply more to Floyd than Roy"?
Really? He went toe to toe with Chavez, Burton, N'Dou, Castillo at times at the end of the first fight, Gatti etc.
Only recently has he been way more defensive than before.
It would be like dogging Roy's career by only watching his later Light Heavyweight fights where he would beat a guy up and then just coast to the finish. He did this as many times as Floyd did.
Basically from where I stand you're a Roy fan and you're enough so that you're completely biased on this one issue. I think you are a fan of Oscar so you do tend to like Action fighters but I was merely pointing out similarities.
I'm not trying to turn this into insulting Roy, I'm a huge Roy fan and don't think it matters HOW he won. But Roy's fights were not usually exciting to every casual fan.
I mean for example I can show anyone the Floyd vs. Bruseles fight and they would be impressed, just like I can show someone Roy vs. Clinton woods. But they would be impressed by the athleticism not the "killer instinct".
Like I said, when younger and smaller Roy did finish off people.
Same with Floyd. Even if he doesn't have the power that Roy did (at his weight) he would try to get guys like N'dou, Chavez and Burton out of there.
It's not the same. Not at all. Floyd has no power. Roy fought as a small man at 175 most of his career, and he HURT guys. You can see the difference in their fights. Roy knocked the shit out of people. That's why he can get away with throwing the same amount as Floyd, because the quality of the connects is simply better.
