this is from the fightnews page:
On an interesting side note Floyd Mayweather Jr. cleared up some questions about his rumored life after boxing. In the past weeks boxing's widely regarded pound for pound champion had made derogatory comments about mixed martial arts and its fighters, prompting UFC President Dana White to reportedly offer Floyd Mayweather Jr. a fight against current UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk to prove if Mayweather's suspicions of mixed martial arts fighters were true.
Mayweather Jr. swallowed his pride and sincerely stated to Fightnews that he has no plans of competing in any organization of mixed martial arts,
"I apologize to the UFC, sometimes we say things that we shouldn't have said and I'm man enough to admit that. I apologize to the Fertittas, Lorenzo and Dana White (UFC owners). I respect MMA fighters and what they do in the UFC. I have no plans of fighting in mixed martial arts."
Most MMA guys, and especially the successful ones, do not disrespect boxing. Actually they respect it enough to train in it. Tito Ortiz had Fernando Vargas work with him and actually come out to the cage with him. All the successful camps have a boxing trainer, hell even on the early Ultimate Fighter shows they had a boxing coach. And they still might, I just dont watch that show anymore.
Before the fight, he disses the UFC to get publicity. The UFC disses him back to get publicity. After the fight he's all respectful, cause the fight is over and he doesn't care anymore.
This just goes to show how unprofessional and immature the whole ufc organization is. A loudmouth braggart boxer, who I really hate by the way, talks smack on ufc. Presiden Dana White, then lashes out like a typical meathead using vulgar words and what not.
Also talking about how he used to talk like floyd when he was involved with boxing. Which means....... he obviously couldn't handle boxing.
The president of ANY professional business like that should learn to act like a professional.
Floyd would KO Sherk in the ring.
Sherk would probably snap Floyds arm like a twig in the Octagon.

Floyd said he would mop the floor with them, in a boxing match. Which he would....
I don't think his comments had anything to do with it being a boxing match. "Put one of our guys in UFC and he'd be the champion. Any good fighter, he'd straight knock them out."
That's pretty self explanatory to me. He wasn't talking about boxing, he was talking about stepping into the cage and beating MMA at its own game. MMA fighters never claim to be better boxers, infact, the pattern has seemed to be somewhat reversed. At any rate, Floyd did what he does best last night, and then retracted his statement, so it really doesn't matter. It's not like he'd ever actually fight in the UFC anyway.
If Floyd put on an Anaheim Ducks Jersey and wore some goalie pads do you think he could stop pucks ?
2 different sports all together.
Floyd would KO Sherk in the ring.
Sherk would probably snap Floyds arm like a twig in the Octagon.
Floyd could never beat wlad. Stick with the little guys floyd, you're a little dude.
What exactly is your point?
Do you honestly think anyone thinks Floyd could take Wlad?
The point is that FLOYD was the one who came out talking shit. Noone in the UFC has sat during interviews discrediting boxers, or Mayweather specifically. Floyd is the one who said he would pretty much mop the floor with them, not the other way around. Floyd is a great boxer, shit an ELITE boxer, but let's get real. Even he knew deep down what the end result would be. Sherk slamming elbows into his head from the mount wouldn't be good for his legacy. Besides, when's the last time anyone has ever heard Floyd apologize for anything? It was either aplogize or STEP UP, and he isn't ready to do the latter. Give the man props for being good at what he does though, and if this was really his last fight, let him have his time to shine and finish cementing his legacy.

Be honest, how many of you people wanna see him move up to heavyweight?
Even if he UD'd Wladmir, people would say,
''He's not an all time great, the heavyweights are poor, he needs to fight Lennox Lewis''
lol.
lmao find 1 person on this board that would say that
Funny how some1 says ufc punked him,but all floyd says is he was wrong, manning up to the situation. its not like they had a contract down and he said no.
exactly...the hell is up with that

Yeah but neither are considered "world class" in the art of biting. So common sense tells us that they should step up to the plate and have a biting contest. With neither having a clear advantage, there would be plenty of action.

Sean Sherk wouldn't last one round before getting brutally outclassed and KO'd if he got in the RING with Mayweather.
And Floyd wouldn't last one round before getting betting brutally beat up if he got in the Octagon with Sherk.
So I really don't see the point Dana White is trying to make. They're two completely different sports.
