Spanish Translators Fuckin' Suck!!!!!

Isnt he that guy that got carried away when they were interviewing corrales and casamayor and started arguing with corrales himself like he was gonna fight and everyone was just looking at him like what the hell. Yup, that's the idiot.

This is something I've noticed for a while now, the main translator for HBO(I forget his name) tends to miss a lot of the conversation in the corner of Spanish speaking fighter, & sometimes tends to be way off, the reason I brought this up is the Freitas fight. As soon as Freitas came to the corner after the 8th the corner told him "this fight is over" over & over again, then they asked him if he wanted to continue the fight & he shook his head no, I'm not saying he didn't quit on his stool, but the corner said long before he did. The fuckin' translator kept saying "The fight is not over" which was exactly opposite of what the corner had said. Now I know it wasn't the main guy doing this fight but he fucked up nontheless, & It happens alot, the only reason why I bring it up is because alot of non-spanish speaking fans are missing something. Am I the only one who notices this shit? I agree a 100%. There is one spanish translator colombian born, "young" black hair and eyeglasses which is a decent translator, although like all of them shortens the boxer's answers.

Ray torres isnt he the one that got yelled at by Chvez after his first loss to DLH because letterman said "was it you that backed out or was it youre corner that backed out", then ray torres said " Tu te rajaste o tu esquina te is que te rajaras" wich is spanish for "did you pussy out or did your corner make you pussy out" in spanish wich is very offensive for many and wasnt what letterman said. chavez then started to yell at them both telling ray torres to get his hands off of him.

Oh, I hate that guy the most! He's some bum who is riding Cepillo's dick...the guy doesnt even translate...he answers the interviewer's questions HIMSELF! Ray Torres sucks balls, his translations are terrible. About Freita's corner, his head trainer is Oscar Diaz who's from PR living in Patterson, NJ and his third is Ulises something and lives in Brazil. I don't have a fucking clue how they understand each other but I guess they do. I was in a pretty loud bar watching the fight and couldn't really pick up what they were saying but I thought his corner was trying to encourage him and not asking him to quit. I thought I might have heard wrong when the translator said what he said, but Oscar Diaz repeated it a few times if I recall & there was no mistaking it, he probably saw what Lennox saw, Freitas was done & didn't seem very interested in fighting, & when the corner asked if he wanted to go on, he said no. & you're right, Ray Torres does suck balls, what I hate most is how he does in-between rounds, a fighter corner will give him alot of solid advice, & Torres breaks it down to half a sentence that doesn't even make any fuckin' sense. The Post fight interviews are just as bad.

I've seen two translators in two seperate courtrooms and both of them did an excellent job. I figured they had to be good if not it would grounds for a mistrial....but who knows. I'm just basing it from the one experience I've had. The guy was terrible and luckily, most of us spoke spanish so we asked the Judge to have him removed. The guy who came in did a MUCH better job. But my point was just cuz they are a courtroom translator, doesnt mean the job will be just as good.

Aren't portugese and spanish close cousins? It wouldn't surprise me for spanish speaking people to understand alot of portugese, since I'm pretty sure their languages are related and only have a few different words. they are both their own seperate languages but close enough to be understood by both spanish speaking and portuguese speaking people. if u heard both u could definitely tell the difference.

I served on a jury where we had to ask the judge to remove the translator because of the poor job he was doing translating for a witness for the prosecution (8 out of 10 of us jurors spoke spanish). He was no where NEAR translating questions correctly...and this was a criminal case! In HBO, fans and some media may get a wrong translation and no one is really hurt, other than a bad reputation. Here, a wrong translation could have meant the difference between someones freedom and 25 years in jail. I've seen two translators in two seperate courtrooms and both of them did an excellent job. I think a lot of the bilingual people notice that the interpreter's usually suck, especially Ray Torres. Even in the post fight interviews, the interpreter gets it totally wrong. What they should do is hire a professional, one of those interpreters they use in courtrooms....they do excellent translations. The Freitas corner's interpreter is a perfect example of how they get it wrong. Trust me, those courtroom translators arent any better. I agree, Ray Torres sucks! But in the last Freitas fight I saw (against Raheem) they had a Portugese translator who was RIPPED in the forums the next day for the job he did. And while I speak spanish, I can pick up SOME portugese words and it did sound like he was way off. He was late half the time in translating.

the trainer spoke spanish and so did the translator. most people who speak portuguese and spanish can understand each other. the trainer is not brazilian i think hes pr. my hometown is full of both portuguese and brazilians so i would know.

this translator is hardly ever on the hbo telecast because it was a portugese translator......so i dont know if u mean just this cat or if your talking about ray torres......torres does the most work with all the regular spanish......

Werent they speaking Portugese since hes from Brazil? I wasnt paying attention to the language.
