Middleweight contender Edison 'Pantera' Miranda successfully made his WBC required 30 day weight of 176 lbs. He was examined by Dr. Jose A. Curet Ramos in Puerto Rico on April 19th and weighed exactly 176 lbs which is within the 10% required by the WBC. He is scheduled to fight Kelly Pavlik on May 19th in Memphis, TN. The fight will be televised live on HBO and will be on the under card of Jermain Taylor vs Cory Spinks.

This is your chance Edison. Since you run your mouth u better back that shit up, or Jermain can look elsewhere.
That dude needs to go up to 168 or 175 and quit fighting small ppl.
Why? If he can make weight than more power to him.
It's not like he is making 160 and fighting guys that are naturally 147/154. But I did hear a rumor there was a middleweight doing that exact thing! :ugh:

Miranda?
Shit you've seen Pavlik right? He looks like Valuev compared to Miranda. I have no clue how Pavlik can make 160 that's fucking crazy. He's built like I am and if I was that low in weight I'd fucking blow away.

Ironically, Calzaghe got hammered for much the same thing against Manfrodo.
Big difference. Eastman was out on his feet (or at least he appeared to be) getting hit flush with some hard shots in the head with no defense or movement. Manfredo was moving and keeping his guard up without getting hit flush. Plus the shots Calzaghe threw looked like what my girlfriend does when she gets mad at me!!!
It's amazing how hes going to lose 16 lbs. in 30 days. I'm looking to see how Pavlik takes a shot.
He actually is usually heavier this far out. 176lbs is more like a 2-3 week weight for Miranda. He is a very big guy with freakish matabolism and able to lose a lot of weight quickly and than rehydrate and gain it back.

I disagree,Eastman was sitting down on a rope, getting his head pushed back by uppercuts and hooks,he wasnt moving his head or nothing,he looked momenterally out of it,on the other hand,Calzaghe was punching Manfredo with pitypat shots,Manfedo was dodging the punches and covering up,huge difference
Given the post fight interview, the punches must have hurt. Nothing else could explain that level of bitching and subsequent memory loss when being interviewed by another TV station.

Yeah but those shots weren't power shots everyone could see those shots weren't hurting him. Just little taps on his face, there is a big difference.
Premature?? After taking shot after shot with no response and looking like this what was the ref supposed to do? If Eastman wasnt hurt, it is his own fault for not throwing back and letting the ropes keep him upright.

did you know howard eastman gave miranda the wobbles... before being robbed by the ref with a premature stoppage.

In Miranda's last fight he weighed in offically at 162 (catchweight) then entered the ring at 175.
So he probably could make 160 easy by cutting water weight.
HA we'll see. Jermain's only been in trouble against Hopkins. With Steward as his trainer he will improve as long as he listens. He may need to get rid of DiBella though. I don't think Jermain came along and wanted to fight Spinks. The fight was probably offered to him and he took it. DiBella is the one making the fights I don't believe its Jermain.
I truly belive Jermain will fight any middleweight out there. Many didn't think he could beat Winky. He deserves some credit draw or not. When was the last time Winky's face looked the way it was?
I watched Taylors 8th professional fight right here in Tusa from ringside.
I've followed him ever since.
And to be honest....every year that passes makes me wonder WTF is going on. This kid used to BRING IT. I went to his fights a lot since they were held in Tulsa and Little Rock pretty regularly. He made everyone look like amatures. Everyone.
Now...pretty much since the Bunema fight...I get the impression he fighting not to lose now that he's successfull.
And while I think he more skilled and gifted and either Pavlik or Mirandad...
Fighting not to lose might not cut it with Pavlik...and FOR SURE wont work against Miranda.
