Evander Holyfield vs. Lou Savarese, June 30th in Calgary.

If holyfeild realy wants a title shot he is gonna have to fight better oposition than this..........

WoW in another thread I congratulated Holyfield on taking the road less travled and actually earning a title shot, instead of banking on his name value and sitting in a holding pattern until one was offered to him. Holyfield takes away Lou's only natural advantage by having a head that is actually a bowling ball covered in skin. Lou cant hurt Evan Fields. Even this old, slow, tired edition of Evander chops and and destroys this lumbering turd of a boxer. I mean...he was a slow lumbering turd when he was in his PRIME! Go watch kirk johnsons fat ass KO him and then tell me he has a chance against Evan. Then again....ol Lou went the distance with Big George...but I think the fight with Tyson ruined him.

I didn't even know Savarese was still alive. Lou should just continually flash his squiggly spider veins at Holy and make him quit out of disgust.

It should be a dominant victory for Holyfield if he wants to be taken seriously. They are going with the Foreman blueprint of fighting frequently against not great but solid opposition.

BostonGuy, the cost would be over $650 with hotel, flight, etc. (it's like going from Boston to Detroit). I'm be better off spending a few hundred more and seeing a good fight such as Hatton/Castillo in Vegas. I've seen ATG's before (although not Holyfield) and I don't enjoy mismatchs, Holyfield is still tough but Savarese is an over-the-hill tomato can. I thought that you were closer to Calgary than that; yeah I probably wouldn't want to spend that much either.

Poor matchup, easy win for Holyfield. I've been hoping for the much better Platov vs. Holyfield on June 15, as was reported yesterday, especially since I could go to Calgary and see it. I wouldn't waste my time and money to go there to see Savarase/Holyfield. JD, if you have a chance to see a former world champion and living hw legend in Evander Holyfield, then you better take it. It's not often you get to see a warrior like Evander Holyfield in person. Spend the $ 60, you'll thank me later!

Doesn’t matter who he faces really, as long as he keeps active while showing progression in the ring. I don't think that this fight is going to happen.... Weeks ago, it was reported that Holyfield didn't want to fight Lou because he's a personal friend. Yesterday it was reported that Holyfield might fight Oleg Platov. Frankly, I think that Platov is a better fight because he's a young European prospect, has a decent record, and is ranked a hell of a lot higher than Saverese. I think that if Holyfield beats Platov convincingly then he's closer to a title shot than if he beat Lou.

Interesting fight for Holyfield, sure Savarese is not a championship material or anything but good to see Holyfield are staying busy. I have a feeling that after 2 or 3 more fights he will get his last shot to become champion once again. But with his age and mobility, Holyfield has to get the right fight aganist the right style to become succesfulle to become champion one more time. And for his sake, his shot has to come as soon as possible, he is not getting younger.

That's what I'm hearing. Another easy fight for Holy, or can Lou pull off the upset? I dont know why savareese would be a big underdog. as limited as sav is,,,holyfield hasnt beaten a descent fighter in years.
