According to the BBC Tyson was the last Undisputed champion! Even if they mean last American they are wrong, what a bunch of fools to do no research or to just misprint this article but its a sign of how low boxing has slipped from the mainstream.
.............................
"American Mike Tyson was the last undisputed heavyweight world champion in 1989-1990, while Briton Lennox Lewis was recognised by the WBA, WBC and IBF as world champion in 1999-2000."

WBO belt doesnt even come in the equation, if we start counting that we might as well take notice of this IBA belt Toney always calls himself champion because of or the WBF that called Audley Harrison champion.
WBO only became apparantly legit because Wlad held it yet nobody seriously called him world champion for holding it, but today when none of the major belt holders are considered real champions the WBO might not seem so lowly. That BBC article is pure nonsense, Tyson isnt even the last American, there was Douglas, Holyfield, Bowe then Lewis.
I guess what they're saying is not completely watertight since tyson did not hold the lightly regarded WBO belt (it was only just established in the late 80s?). But now with 4 recognised belts its going to be tough to get an "undisputed champion". What the Beeb and everyone else in boxing needs to be doing is putting stock in the ring belt. So if Wlad fights and beats either no.2 or 3. then the winner will hold the ring belt and be champ in my eyes at least. right now we don't have a heavyweight champ.
