Wow .... what a beatdown.... I was feeling the upset before the fight but i still cant believe it happened and so one sided. Mijares is now the king of the Lower weights I wonder if Darchinyan will want to step in with him after seeing what he did to Arce.
What a schooling though... im still in shock... Props to Arce the man was a warrior till the end he didnt give up, he didnt go down, even though he was getting a beating and busted up, his pride getting hurt with every punch because of claims he made before the fight....
Very classy fighters good sportsmanship from both them
"I fought the fight of my life," said Mijares afterward. "I beat a great champion. I beat a warrior." Arce stated, "No excuses. I don't know what happened tonight. He was the better man tonight. There's nothing else to do but accept defeat and prepare myself for the next fight."
nonito donaire is the new king of lower weights!:boxing: :boxing:
Totally Agree! No doubt about it! Pinoy fighters rock!!! on the other hand, the skills of mijares is unquestionable. I like him too.
Hope he gets matched up with Donaire!!! He needs to taste a Pinoy fist somehow... Darchinyan, would be a thrilling fight too. Hey you promoters out there. What cha waiting for...
Sorry but it is Cristian Mijares hands down.
Arce was the king till Mijares beat him... Darchinyan was not. Plus lets face it, you know Nonito don't want none of Mijares.
i can agree that arce was FLYWEIGHT KING, but at that time it was BEING contested by vic...
i wish we could have seen that fight between the two guys and i would have been rooting for arce ...
but, Arce got beat up at Superfly (too small and against a very good opponent), and vic lost his belt against a bigger, faster, younger opponent (a superfly going down), with the being said I think the rightful claim to be "KING OF THE LOWER WEIGHTS" should be at SUPER FLY
now we have the two winners mijares (superfly) and nonito (fly), imho i think mijares has to clean his division first to assert him as king of the lower weight and nonito should also sweep and clean the fly weight division first to be considered as a challenger to that title... and maybe they can face each other in 2 years...

Fighting a Pinoy!
I observed that Cristian Mijares was an intelligent fighter with precise punches. Not to mention that he would want to go to law school while in his boxing career. That makes him more admirable! Nevertheless, I would still want to see him come face to face with a Pinoy boxer such as Nonito Donaire or Z Gorres perhaps. Huh! That would be awesome to watch!!!!
Besides Arce being to small, Mijares was a nightmare style match up for Arce.
My uncle predicted exactly what happened. He said Mijares would beat Arce badly and I still couldnt believe it while I was watching it.
Arce looked slow and weak in there, he said he had no excuses so Im guessing he felt fine but he sure didnt look like it.
Agree that Nashiro MIGHT be the goods. Based on Munoz' recovery from knee problems, and fight against Castillo, a win against him would be highly impressive. He and Kameda or Hasegawa could be HUGE in the next two years. What struck me against Castillo was that he beat him purely on speed and fundamentals. Imagine how good he'll be when he adds wrinkles. His quality of comp at this stage (less than 15 fights) is LaBarba-esque.
Arce was never that good period. I've written repeatedly the last two years that Arce was more hype than Hercules. Fighting at 108, and showing up fight night weighing 122-125 doesn't make you a bad ass. Fighting B-guys and looking exciting ain't all that either when their names are Rivas and Makepula. Tokuyama would have slapped him all over the ring. Mijares is very good (I didn't suspect him to win THAT one-sided) and he certainly should be seen near the top of the class. But let's not go too nuts for a win over Arce. There are still some better fights to take and win: Castillo, Nashiro, Munoz, Montiel. All would be an excellent night at the fights.
Nobuo Nashiro could be the King of of his division and future 1 p4p.
It just impressed me that he won three contenders, fought Castillo in just 8 fight won the title and that thing you rarely see in boxing and now he is fighting Munoz.
another twist in the this guy is that he is just a college student too and that would make it more intersting he could be the Rocky Mariciano of the division where the hype is more need for other fighters

although till the end i wanted a comeback by arce, i really was impressed by mijares performance. he knew he was winning in points, but still in the end he pushed forward. thats the attitude of a champion and he deserves this recognition.
mijares was amazing. the guy put on a clinic and he really made arce look like an amateur. He completely exposed him... theh fight was very one sided but it was not boring at all because arce gave it his all.
it was just a brilliant performance, i have not seen any of mijares' past fights but i'd venture out and say this is probably one of the best fights he's had... he just went out there and executed. the guy was a surgeon...
i consider him the new king as well.
I actually predicted this one, but am surprised at how completely Mijares won. Thought it would be closer, & was worrying about the judges favouring Arce due to his drawing power.
However, I wouldn't be calling Mijares the New King of the lower weights just yet.
Just over a year ago Mijares fought another top guy called Luis Maldonado, 33-0 at the time, & had a draw.
Maldonado in his next fight was blown out by Vic Darchynan in 8, being dominated in the process.
To me, Mijares win over Arce in such a decisive fashion puts Darchynan as the King of the lower divisions, unless Mijares can beat him in the ring.
Be a big money fight if it happens soon, & should be very easy to make.
Arces fucking crazy, thats why people like him. The clown that beat him, he's probably an average-joe who's in this sport for the money. While, arce is in it because he's sick and enjoys it. :boxing:
How can u call that kid a clown and an average joe, he went to Japan to bring the title home, and then he defended it against THE man around his weight class and he did in dominating fashion.
