i think johnny tapia should be in there, i read his book, damn what a struggle, talk about having demonsold poll
their are too many mexican fighters to name, i love mi vida loca as a fighter but i gotta leave some people off poll
Good post. At his best, Morales was definitely better than Nard as a boxer.
Morales is the most exciting fighter of this era, clearly
he was still overshadowed in a way by Barrera(also a legend) but deseved less recognition than Morales
julio cesar chavez, cause he never ducked an opponent, no matter how old or out of shape he was in. and when a guy went to fight him, the guy had to fight julio and the crowd.
marco antonio barrera hands down for me!!!!!
i started following barrera after his fight with kenedy mckinney, after that fight i was a fan of his for ever!!! i loved the way barrera would just break down his opponents with sick body shots, something he rarely does anymore due to his evolution as a boxer rather than a brawler, but the way he would just walk into the ring, with no facial expression, sit in his corner and fight with no facial expression, barrera jut looked menacing and cold...... dude just looked like a straight up killer!! he only had one thing on his mind when he entered the ring, and that was to just break his opponents. barrera has given me so many great fighters, even in his defeats (except for the pacquiao fight) barrera has always put up a good fight. plus i love the way barrera didnt need to even box but still decided too, as some of us already know, barrera comes from a wealthy background and could have been a lawyer, but it has always fascinated me that he wanted to become a boxer, when he didnt really need too.
plus with entertaining fights with JMM, jesus salud, junior jones, paulie ayala, enrique sanchez, kennedy mckinney, kevin kelly, johnny tapia (although tapia and kelley were passed there primes), jiminez (i think that was when he won his first WBO title), his 2 fights with rocky juarez (his first fight with him was a war), his boxing clinique over prince naseem hamed, and his unforgettable trilogy over erik morales, where barrera came out victorious, barrera for me is my favourite mexican fighter and a hall of famer when he winds down his career.
barrera has fought EVERYBODY around him in his weight classes and has ducked no one. a true LEGEND.
may all time favorite mexican fighter is salvador sanchez, i just think he can beat anyone...
my current favorite is erik, i did not like him before, h_ck i went for Marco on their 3rd fight, but I learned more about him the 3 fights he fought pacman and i am sure most if not all pacfans respects erik...
Although Cristian Mijares is not on the list, I'd vote for him because of his skills, intelligance and HUMILITY. Larios bec he is one humble fighter too.
