This says something about the state of boxing in Thailand.
A fighter with 50 or more fights, a former world champion, takes on boxers with only one fight. His last two opponents had a combined records of 1 and 1.
Somsak Sithchatchawal
A fighter with 59 fights takes on a fighter with no professional fights.
Wandee Singwangcha
I know Ponsaklek Wonjongkam never fights anybody accept no names from Asia. He's ranked number one in the ring magazine at flyweight and fights nobodies. Like Rafael said in his rankings this week there are three certains in life death, taxes and Wonjongkam avoiding any semblance of a serious title defense.
If that's the case it might not be as bad as it looks. It still doesn't seem right though. Doesn't a fighter from another discipline need to learn and adjust?
if what Respect said is right then you have to also consider that muaythai is the much bigger sport in thailand...the guy with the 0-1 pro boxing record could potentially have been better known than the experienced boxer.
but then again, theres not an easy way of knowing for sure and maybe he's using the alleged valero tactic of fighting rickshaw drivers and ladyboys
I agree it's disgraceful for the sport and unsafe for the athletes.
But it's not just in Thailand. How many fights did that tomato can manfredo have before padding calzaghe's record??
:nonono:
what you dont realise is that they are not bums...
they are probably underground Muay Thai kick boxers... or trained in a martial arts of some sort..
