due to an accidental elbow from judah that opened up a cut just below the hairline of galvan in the 1st round. judah looked in shape, no ring rust, and swarmed galvan, but in the middle of a combo, he threw a punch that missed and cut galvan with his elbow.
like joe tessitore said, "a judah fight is always an event."
i know everbody saw bs's own soundtraveler do the intros.... he did a great job. for those that dont know, soundtraveler is j.d lyons..
Thank you my friend! I had hoped we would get to see more from Zab, but that is the fight game. The intros were not my best work, but, it is what it is, I hope it was o.k., it's always fun to introduce a bigtime fighter...
The problem is, the WBA has a rule that states a fighter cannot fight for the title unless he is coming off a win. Judah will not be coming off a win, so while the fight may still go on, does it have to be a non-title fight?
Or will the WBA make an exception because it was clear Judah was on his way to winning the fight? Could be interesting...
well, i guess they should be able to take a council vote on whether that rule can be forgone right? It seems this rule would complicate things though.

this was not a good warm up fight for someone like Cotto. He shoulda had a little better opponent who coulda taken a few rounds of ass whooping and it was definitely the left elbow
Let's see what the WBA does now, cuz their rules states that a fighter with back to back looses can't fight for a world title, that was the reason this fight was made...
hmm, well i can see how that would possibly cause problems
Of course, Judah would of won. Its just too bad that theese things happen it would of been better if he would of just gotten a "w" so we could all be sure that the cotto fight would go on I hope they dont get any new ideas and decide not to let the fight happen.
Sure the fight'll go on, its not like this was an eliminator or nothing. If the fight were to not occur it would be for other reasons.
no matter how many times i watch the replay though, i just cant see conclusive evidence of an elbow.
When I watched it I really thought it was from the elbow which came at the end of a left hand which followed the uppercut. It was kinda strange because the cut was on the wrong side of the face, but when he followed through with the left (i think it was a left, coulda been a right hook) his elbow grazed across the top of the guys forehead on the opposite side as the punch had landed (the left side of the guys face if it was a left hand) and it looked to be right at the level at which the cut occured. This looked like the most likely case to me.
In his first bout since coming off a one-year suspension, former champion Zab Judah (34-4, 25 KOs) and journeyman Ruben Galvan (27-11-2, 10 KOs) fought to a no-contest at the Fitz Casino and Hotel, Tunica, Mississippi. details]
Someone beat ya to it bpp, what a gyp anyway. But what do you expect on Friday the 13th?

Goodness Judah did not win against Galvan!! may the lord save us all seriously I agree when will he get a break, And it's not like he lost so is the cotto fight still on.
Judah can't buy a break. His whooping Galvan's ass and then a elbow causes a cut and the fight is ruled a no contest. He looked good while it lasted though.
That's exactly what I was thinking. It's like Jesus is punishing him.

Judah vs. Galvan ruled a no contest!!!!!
Zab Judah's comeback fight against Ruben Galvan was ruled a no contest, apparently due to an accidental elbow by Judah in the first round... There is still some controversy, but as of right now the Cotto-Judah contest is still scheduled to take place.
