I am not making this thread to downgrade him in anyway it just surprises me that nobody ever beats him since Vargas. The way he fights. Totally flatfooted, very upright, very little movement and really only the straight right hand as a money punch it seems that anybody that would be able to get him out of his comfort zone and exchange punches from a posisitions he's not set in should have a reasonable chance of beating him. And why is it so hard for anybody to get him out of his comfort zone. He's standing flatfooted basically all the time.
I agree. Tito should have pounded his arms all night and at least won on aggression. That was a BS shut out. I think Winky wins by getting his opponents depressed with his boring style. Crab-pook a Boo turtle defense. Winky is boring. Tito must wanna shoot himself watching that fight over. He let a weak, turtle beat his ass that night. I would have broken his arms with punches all night til I caught that small forehead with a knuckle.
anytime tito try he got countered quickly.
Winky's most underrated quality is his ability to mentally dominate..
That's one of the things I loved about him at first.
He taps somebody and then nods emphaticall like:
"Yeah!.. Now I'm fucking your shit up!.."
Winky is relentless.
He has incredible will power, and he understands the range at which to square up his opponents so it's harder for either fighter to land anything truly meaningful.. He knows he can score more points than the other guy..
He piston punches the heavy bag continously in training.
Winky rains flurries.. Those dull punches make his opponents numb.
winky has a very difficult style. not only is he a southpaw, hes a very defensive southpaw. his defense is damn near bulletproof, its useless to attack him straight ahead.

jermaine taylor got close enough!!
It's simple. Just like the NFL; "Defence Wins Championships". He is very composed and does not gamble. His reach is long and his catch and counter is text book.:boxing:
Agree. Defense Defense Defense
in my opinion winky should've won the fight against...if he fought the 12th round different it would've been his for sure...love winkys defense

Taylor would beat Winky easily in a rematch imo. Winky isnt going to improve while Taylor is still green in almost every aspect fundamentaly, and has room to improve. I think Ouma would have given Winky a good fight too.

I sorta see your point, for me the jury is still out on him, no doubt he is very skilled defensivley, i would deffo pick Taylor over him in the rematch, and the only reason hopkins is fighting him is because its a good style match-up for Hopkins,
The kind of guy that'll give Hopkins trouble, especially at ths stage, is a volume puncher, which Winky is not, B-HOP will have time to get set and pick his shots in this fight, which is why i pick him to win a UD
Just an opinion
Jermaine Taylor beat him in my opinion (awaits torrent of abuse lol)
But Wright does the fundamentals very well. He has long arms and he covers up superbly and counters with that straight right better than anybody. He's not flashy and that works for him.
And Vargas shouldnt have got that decision.
No torrent of abuse but there is no fucking way Taylor beat him.....Taylor was lucky as hell to walk out of there with a draw.Winky beat Taylor in that fight more decisively than Taylor beat Hopkins in either of their fights.
