Over Manny Pacquiao, at this point.
We know that Manny has improved his skills by alot since his fight with Marquez. At this point, what kind of chance do you think that Juan Manuel Marquez has to beat Manny Pacquiao, in a rematch?
I feel much better now that I know that.. Thanks.
I'm especially grateful for your tremendous insight in pointing out all the other weapons in his massive arsenal..
LOL...OK, Seriously dude, PAC and JMM fought a draw last 2004.Taking that as a starting point, did PAC improve the last 3 years?Did marquez improve as well or did he deteriorate?Maybe lost a step or two?
In my humble opinion, PAC is a much much better than the guy JMM fought 3 years ago.He is no longer the right-right-left fighter people labelled as one dimensional. He still lunges, gets reckless sometimes but he definitely has upgraded his skills.
JMM on the other hand never lost his counterpunching skills. And boy, do I love the way he throws those uppercuts. But from what I noticed lately, he is more aggressive and more willing to engage in toe to toe battles.Something that is not advisable against the PACMAN.Just ask Erik.
Pac has proven he can drop JMM with a single shot while JMM has shown he can school Manny for the majority of the fight.Lets see what happens if the fight pushes through....Though like what I said before, it seems it may take the route of Sasakul-Pac...Manny getting outboxed until a solid left connects and drops JMM... ;P
Now this is a very good question,
Marquez has every chance of beating Pacman, he is considerably better skilled in every department,
However, can he avoid Pac's left hand, which must be one of the most dangerous single punches in modern boxing?
If he can, i think he could possibly get a decison, he has much more of chance against Pacquiao than Barrera does.
I can't see Marquez avioding that shot for 12 rounds, i reckon he would get knocked down in this fight,
So yes, i think Marquez could fair better, but i would lean towards a late TKO/UD for Pacman,
Good question though.
i think JMM could still pull out a win, he has experience and a lot of skill, Pac is better now but he still can't outbox JMM. dinamita will make this fight exciting, i think he'll try to brawl more with Pac, i'm not sure this is a good idea
I feel much better now that I know that.. Thanks.

lol lol lol:headbang:
Exactly my friend! What is Manny P. without that running straight?Thats the Manny P of 2004/2004 that demolished Barrera and had Marquez kissing the canvass 3 times.
Newsflash. The Manny P of 2007 now uses 2 hands, is faster than before, and now weighs 144 pounds on fight night...If I am Marquez, I would be scared, real scared...LOL. ;p

I'd say that Manny has grown steadily under Freddie Roach and learned to mix up his offensive and use some skill and technique over sheer activity. He's gotten even better than when he first met Marquez so I'd say that I actually believe Pacquiao would walk away the victor.
Marquez would be an underdog, but a very very live underdog. I would give him about a 30-40% chance of winning. I would pick Pacquiao, but this is a very interesting and competitive fight if it happens.
I think he has a great chance.

Juan Manuel can take it away from him..

JMM was dropped by Barrera....Do you recall who is the only other guy MAB was able to put on the canvass in his time as a 130 llb boxer?Mzonke Fana...My point is JMM doesnt have the chin to stand up to a punch from a PACMAN weighing 144 lbs on fight night...JMM will be the smaller, weaker, and slower man in the ring...He cant avoid the left straight and right hook for the whole 12 rounds.Sooner or later he will get caught...I kinda imagine the fight going the route of Sasakul-Pac.A master tactician versus a monster puncher...Sasakul was boxing Manny's ears off until he got tagged in the 8th round.
PAC by brutal KO. ;P
I think he does. I was thinking a similar thing.
I feel a few years back right after their first fight, the rematch woulda been rounds 2 and up of their first encounter. However though Marquez is still a real force he has lost a step and some of the hand speed he once possesed.
If i was gonna put my money down id put it on Pacquiao. Marquez is a live dog though and u cant count em out, i just think his chances are less now than before.

Marquez' chin is fine. Barerra had all of his body behind his shot and JMM was coming forward. Those two circumstances will result in a knockdown 90% of the time.
but in boxing, common opponents my friend, mean shit.
frazier beat ali, who then lost to foreman, who relinquished the belt in africa back to ali.
smell me?
hate to side w/ badboy bg, but you don't make a good point.
Got your point buddy. And I agree completely styles makes fights.Im not exactly questioning styles, Im questioning JMM's ability to survive a PAC punch...I was illustrating that MAB, who is not exactly known as a power puncher, will have that effect on JMM, I can only imagine what would happen when its PAC left straight that lands smack on his chin.
Didnt hurt Marquez?LOL...Dude, take a look at their pictures after the fight and tell me again JMM wasnt hurt. His face looked like it just went through a meat grinder.
Imbalance, punch, body feet coordination, call it whatever you like, but the bottomline is he got hurt by an old Barrera.I dont question the fact that JMM won.But im questioning whether he can survive a hit by a prime PAC when they meet. And Im willing to bet he wont.
If u look at the replay u could see that barrera hitting marquez didnt really play a role in him hitting the canvas it was more of a slip and his legs where not coordinated right either but my point is that barrera did not hurt marquez!!! marquez was already slipping before barreras connected the punch.
you make a horrid fukken point here. barrera hitting marquez didn't really play a role in him hitting the canvas, que? so what exactly did make jmm hit the canvas? he didn't slip dude, c'mon, look at the tape. you're worse than fukken jay nady if you think he slipped. jmm was visibly hurt by the punch, it was all the time that jmm had, after the foul, that i think saved him.
Pac.
He's coming from all angles now and mixing up his attack nicely.
Before it was right, right, then the big left.
That's a point that will be important in the fight. It's not completely the same Pac that fought JMM the last time.
also, you have the hearns blasting duran out of the ring - then moved up to middle and got blasted himself by iran barkley, who duran later beat for the belt.
