Hopkins slated for January. Some more stuff about Kessler's dodging of their July offer and plans for Taylor.
Taylor in July, Hopkins in January. Not holding my breath like, but that would be something special.
The point is Taylor isn't going to fight Calzaghe less than two months after his last fight. Warren knows this, even if you don't.
I guess you've had a "face the facts" course on old Dubya's lap. Good day now.
Calzaghe would be fighting Taylor after just 3 months out of action. In fact, considering he's going to be out of action with a broken bone in his hand for the next month, they'd have a rather similar training time indeed.
That not fair?
Can I have a checklist to determine what a fair price is? Some sort of spreadsheet would be ideal. I wasn't aware proximity to earlier fights had a bearing on a "fair price".
Have you been getting lessons on holding a consistent and coherent argument with old Dubya?

What does that have to do with names on his record though? That's inconsistent. I agree that you can't expect him to fight for less than usual, but then that works both ways.
If the fight with Hopkins is for January then July makes sense as they would then have fought at roughly the same time - I'd be surprised if either took that fight when one had several months longer to train. As for possible opponents, Di Bella wants the Taylor fight at the end of the year which means both can't be done and who knows when Kessler's hands will be ready. Of the alternatives I'd prefer Froch but no doubt he'd be slated for that - wrongly as I'd pick Froch to beat Kessler, but slated nonetheless.
Read the thread again.
YOU said: "Mind you, some people seem to be arguing Calzaghe should fight names rather than money so that argument could go both waqys."
To which I replied: "Taylor's fought more names than Calzaghe, despite having been a pro for half as long as Calzaghe. It's Calzaghe who needs the names, not Taylor, at this point."
Which means that Taylor's shown the ability to fight names, which Calzaghe hasn't, really. Therefore Taylor is entitled to expect a fair price to fight another name, where Calzaghe needs to make fair offers to other names, since he expects big money himself.
It's not a double standard. Calzaghe wants big money, so he should expect other big names to want the same, and not offer them peanuts to fight him. I'll state yet again, that this is simply Warrens way of keeping his cash cow away from those guys, since he can make tons of money fighting the Manfredo's of the world.
I still don't get why Calzaghe is fighting in July? Why?
Taylor should not fight Calzaghe for half what he usually gets, no way. What's inconsistent about that?

Heh. That sort of dodging would make Manfredo proud.
Actually, that isn't the name of the topic. The topic is why he is (as slating Hopkins in Jan 08) rather than why he has to. I didn't like to embarass you.
As for the last point, I'm a little confused. Weren't you earlier arguing that Taylor shouldn't fight Calzaghe on money ground? How is that now relevant? You really should try to keep a consistent argument.

Yessir. I agree. I think everyone should just stop worrying about Calzaghe. We all want him to fight either B-Hop, JT or Kessler next. Chances are, he'll get another Manfredo type fight. So pretty much fuck him until a date is set with a real opponent.
Warren's full of shit. I also suspect you are.
So anyway, which one is it - should fighters fight the names or for the money?
You expect me to answer your questions when you repeatedly dodge mine? Anyway, obviously the truth is somewhere in between. You can't just fight for money, and you can't just fight names. a balance between the two is needed.
Don't dodge my points and questions, because that shows who's full of shit.
WHY DOES CALZAGHE AHVE TO FIGHT IN JULY???? It's the name of your topic, surely you can come up with an answer, I've asked you three times now.
Also, comment this: "Taylor's fought more names than Calzaghe, despite having been a pro for half as long as Calzaghe. It's Calzaghe who needs the names, not Taylor, at this point."
So, you turned into an agnostic all of a sudden, or is Warren the only credible source of information in your world? :lol1:

Explain to me again, what's the title of this thread mean? Why does Calzaghe have to fight in July?

He wouldn't - but then I have no proof that those figures are correct. Mind you, some people seem to be arguing Calzaghe should fight names rather than money so that argument could go both waqys.

If Hopkins is retired somebody needs to tell Winky Wright to stop training.
Why should Taylor fight Calzaghe for $3 million, when he gets double that for fighting Ouma in the US?!
(Answer: Warren just wants to claim Taylor turned him down and is ducking Calzaghe)
I would be really surprised if Hopkins would fight Calzaghe in Jan. I have a feeling that fight will never happen, as Hopkins probably will move up to the heavyweight division. And i really belive Hopkins is going to countinue to fight until he is 45-46, he will try to prove he is this generation of Archie Moore & Foreman.
Warren just pulled the july shit out of his ass to get away from Taylor and Kessler. He wants to fight Inkin (but not in july?).. Go figure.
Hopkins, isn't he retired? He sure talks alot about Calzaghe, or does he?
