Is it just me, or does it seem like Larry Mercahant is getting more and more senile as the years go on. What he says doesnt even make sense half of the time, and it always takes forever for him to get it out with his dramatic pauses. His analogies are horrible, and usually have nothing to do with what is going on. Plus in his interviews, he gets so redunndent with his questions.
I know the alternative of Max Kellerman is just as bad, but something's gotta be done about Larry.
Anyone else share this opinion?
lmao is true man , i can't stand him at times, don't get me wrong he always asks the right questions but damn he gets you desperate when he pauses and just kills the moment..... the first time i was in favor of floyd when he just told larry the truth i his face "you don't know nothin' bout boxing"-pbf
This thread reminds me of the great Ken Norton...
He foght during the heyday of the heavyweight division and took on the best that the world had to offer...
As we look at the state of boxing today we must ask ourselves..
Ken Norton where are ye...
The forum should have more threads like ye.
haha i like his work and he did great tonight on joes card. larry adds something to the broadcast, i actually look forward to him at fights...
larry merchant gets a thumb up from me
That was funny but I think he did that because he really is just a huge douche.
Nope. He did it because Warren was trying to make some excuse as to why Calzaghe shouldn't fight Kessler.
Nobody wants to hear that shit.
Is it me or does Larry Merchant always say "We got 2 fighters at a crossroads" to describe every fight no matter who is boxing?
You leave Larry alone. He takes naps in the middle of rounds, but who cares(Larry needs his rest). You think HBO is paying Larry? Please. He has to sneak into every event and then work his way to the commentary table. Notice how Lampley has a confused face everytime he introduces Larry to the television audience.
i like him. his analogies were spot on tonight and always are. Comparing careers or situations of the current fighters to ones of the past.
And he usually does this 1 minute bit after the last interview, those are always great.
Like he did something after the Cotto fight about Boxing being mainstream in Puerto Rico, and it was great.
Larry is very witty. I actually like those "dramatic pauses" and the little dialogue he gives.
It's always funny when Lampley passes it on to Merchant after the fight, and the camera zooms in while he gives his little lecture.
yeah actually his interview tonight he asked some really good questions... he does have flashes where he's good, but overall i just think he's past his prime
