In your opinion what is the best strategy for Oscar to use and have success against Mayweather? I think early on Floyd will have a lot of respect for Oscar's power and will be on the defensive early in the fight similair to when he fought Zab Judah. This will give Oscar a chance to build up a early lead after the 1st 4 rounds which would play a key role in his strategy from round 5 on.
I think because of this Oscar needs to come out the aggressor ,but it has to be a controlled aggression using that left jab. If he comes out overly aggressive he will get picked apart with counterpunches. I dont see Mayweather aggressive early,he will respect Oscar early in the fight just like he did Judah. This is where Oscar has to take advantage of that. I think he can build a early lead by pumping that left jab with controlled aggression.
If Oscar is able to build a early lead after 4 rounds ,then that's where Floyd will be looking to step it up and that's where Oscar has a chance to land that left hook. Once Floyd starts getting more aggressive, this is where Oscar needs to take a step back with his aggression and make Floyd come to him more and make Floyd the aggressor. This is where Oscar can land that big left hook.
Easier said then done though
Honestly?..
Oscar should get his bodyguard to hit Floyd in the knee with a steel pipe before the fight.
This is boxing, not that violent figure skating.
All Possibly Effective Plans...But
another thing mayweather has a habit of changing his style a lot during the fight (typically defensive, offensive and defensive again when he cannot get the kill). oscar better be prepared to adjust for that, he can dictate the tempo of the fight because of his size and power, but he has to keep in mind that the fighter in front of him can react in 2-3 ways to the fight he is bringing.
This is one reason why I feel it'll be hard for DLH to beat PBF.
Anthing is possible, and DLH may indeed come prepared with a good strategy, but if DLH can't make those adjustments, then he'll just be frustrated throughout the whole fight. :boxing:
1. jab a lot
2. go the body
3. better work on stamina in camp like never before
4. be prepared to be dirty when close, hold and hit, hit thise hips...
5. head movement
6. cut off the ring, (kind of obvious)
look at the castillo fightS (not one, both), but look at them the right way.
baldomir, chavez, ndou and others brought pressure to floyd, but only castillo did something good with it. why? because he kept on moving his head and he had great timing, not to mention all the inside skills (the legal ones and the illegal ones). timing and head movement that's what separates a great pressure fighter from a punching bag.

This could either be a very easy fight for DLH or a very hard one. During the first few round he has to jab upstairs and work on PBF with the hard body shots. When he feels comfortable he should look for some stiff jabs with some hard rights....
I doubt Oscar will try the Left hook that often but if he does he better time it right because Floyd will counter the shit out of that punch.
So basically Oscars gotta jab (A LOT) work the body and when the timings right look for power combos.
.... If that vintage left hook hits its night night for Mayweather.
if he want to beat him he should come heavily armed. i honestly dont think he is capable of n e thing floyd cant counter.
if i were him id be lookin to pop that jab all night. like 40 a round. forget trying to dominate floyd from the outset. make floyd fight at the range he wants.
for DHL to win he need alot of combo combo combo.
why you will say Chavez and Noud did it but didnt work?
well DHL is huger in size than those guy and Mayweather shoulder roll wouldnt take all the shot because of DHL size.
but i dont know if he could do it through 12 round but he might be abl to dominate the 1st couple of rounds like that.
As for the later round it all will power and and his stamina depleting and that could be dangerous for him because it is easier to hurt someone when he is on fatgui and even Mayweather have a possiablitiy to KO even though DHL have a strong chin because Mayweather will concentrat on the body and then the chin will move down and he gaurd goes down that if down with someone as fast as Mayweather he is going to hit alot and painful shots.
Mayweather the first couple of round Mayweather wont be abl to hurt DHL effectivly but if DHL doesnt have the stamina then he is in trouble
User the force Oscar.:boxing:
Oscar has two chances:
1. Pay off the judges.
2. Hope and pray that he lands something earth shattering square on Floyd's chin.
Oscar is gonna have to come in agressive but not wild. He has to throw more punches than Floyd, if its a slow chess match Floyd will dominate him. Don't try and make it a dogfight because Floyd most likely won't trade more than 2 or 3 punches with Oscar. Oscar is gonna have to throw a ton of punches IMO for him to win, and evade Floyd's counters and straight rights the best he can. Good Luck Oscar your fuckin wit da best lol.
DLH needs to apply a lot of pressure and work the body, pretend his head doesn't exist for the first part of the fight. Floyd will be looking to outbox/potshot him so he needs to cut off the ring and work the body to do more damage later in the fight. Take advantage of the beginning rounds b/c thats when Floyd takes it slow and tries to figure you out...and once he does its downhill (e.g. the Judah fight). Oscar has the size advantage so he needs to use it. Get inside and work the body, and later on the head, with the hook. Don't brawl him but he needs to fight his fight, not Floyds. He'll just be looking to outbox....making DLH miss by slipping and sholder rolling and then counterpunch him.
That is not true. Oscar has only had stamina issues in a few fights, and none of those fights were against guys as comparitively small as Floyd is to Oscar. Additionally, Floyd does not have the menacing demeanor or power needed to tire Oscar. Floyd very well could win, but it will not be due to Oscar fading. Floyd's arsenal is different from Tito's and Shane's.
I like the initial poster's plan for Oscar. It could work and is one of the better plans I have seen. But Floyd is so good and you just never know...
My strategy: Oscar should come out in the first round, try to shock Floyd with a KO. Just go ballistic on his ass.
Then, when (if) that does not work, totally change in the 2nd round to a method of using the jab and height to keep little Floyd on the outside, and see how that goes...and long distance body shots after the jab. Even though Floyd is faster, it could work if Oscar is smart enough and uses his height well.
Then, when (if) that does not work, Oscar can go back to a more aggressive style, controlled aggression but with a high amount of power punches coming behind the jab. Something will land if Oscar throws in combos.
I like the switching up the pace like that, if you could keep floyd in his figuring out stage of the fight for the whole fight, it would be a relatively easy win.
He's a bigger, stronger guy. He should pressure him from bell to bell, punching and pushing him back, since it is harder to stay out of the way than to press. But I wonder if DLH really has the stamina to press as long as he needs to......
Which is why Oscar needs to be constantly hitting to the body.
Thats why they should hire a guy like Julio Cesar Chavez or even a Mickey Ward to teach Oscar their little tricks on how they attacked the body so well.
I think Oscars only chance at winning this one, is if its by KO. And thats certainly not out of the question
i dont think chavez would ever do anything to help oscar.
jab to the body has to be the money shot. pbf has never faced a big jabber like oscar.
the reason i give Oscar a shot is because,
Oscar has faced guys like PBF(sweet pea, illusive and fast)(Hopkins boxing smarts) (mosely speed). now im not saying pbf is any better or worse than them just saying Oscar has faced guys with some what similar skill pbf has.
floyd has never had a fight that was even half as big as this, and the jab oscar has is that good
if Oscar works the body and cuts off the ring. people need to remember Floyd is hittable. hard to hit but is hittable

Floyd won't be there to take those punches.

cut of the ring. that he has to do for sure. if he goes off on mayweather in the late rounds like in the ike fight, mayweather might not be able to take those punches

Oscar just has to be busy, throw more punches and work Floyd any way he can. Trying to land the left hook is a bad idea. Floyd will be looking to counter it. If I was Oscar I would forget about the Left hook until a opportunity presents it's self.
