Kessler

Kessler can open up. He has some after burners. I would still favor Calzaghe because of Kessler's broken rythm. Joe can dance, and he's throwing from all angles.. I don't know how Kessler could handle all that transition work. He seems to prefer, or need to get set. If Kessler can change his style during the course of a fight and improvise, changes his arsenal, change his defense, set traps and become a different fighter; I would give him a better chance. But I would still favor Calzaghe.

Calzaghe wants the US market - he's made that pretty clear. That's where the big money is, & Joe doen't have much time left to get it. Against Kessler there is two big problems in making the bout. One is location - no way Joe is going to Denmark to make the fight - Judges in Denmark are even worse than German judges for hometown decisions, & anyway, Joe's the long reigning, recognised champ & he should get the call. Two is recognition factor in the US market - the Andrade fight undoubtedly advanced Kessler's status over there, but compared to Wright, Taylor or Hopkins? Much bigger recognition & money for them. Why take a tough, risky fight against Kessler when he'll probably get one of them by early next year? Only way the Kessler fight happens is if Wright, Taylor & Hopkins make it clear that they're not interested in facing Calzaghe, & there is a big money offer for them to fight it out in the US with neutral judges.

"Maybe Calzaghe feels that there is no 'connection' with Kessler." Simply becuase he has more to prove then Hopkins has. Hopkins has allready have some big fight, and Joe hasnt. Joe should not sitting and waiting for Taylor or a Winky fight, how about first prove he is the best in his division.

I dunno about this one.. imho joe c will always take the easy route, then call out the big names. Lets face it, he beat a hype job in Lacy. Atleast kessler won yesterday against a very solid fighter and also has traveled to Oz and beaten Mundine.

Kesslers never been tested we all know Joe is as tough as nails, since kesslers never been tested we dont reallly know how deep he can dig Kessler made very easy work of Marcus Bayer, Danny Green struggled against him. Kessler made very easy work of Manny Sica, Anthony Mundine couldn't beat him. I think Kessler has been tested, but not by a Hopkins, Taylor Type.

Have to agree here, Joe is saying that Hopkins is taking an "easy" fight, instead of facing him. Funny he is saying it after he had sign for fighting Manfredo, and i wonder who is a better fighter pund for pound Winky or Manfredo ??

Not true at all. He spent quite a bit of time calling out Hopkins, Taylor and Wright. None of them bit. No doubt he was told by his network and promoters that they werent biting because he didnt have a big enough profile...THEN he took Manfredo. He didn't spend time calling them out. He did what Hatton does. Take a different fight, and then say that he wants te big fights. Calzaghe recently said that Winky was taking the easy way out against Hopkins. As opposed to...... Manfredo? Bika perhaps?

There is no way Calzaghe would be able to take that kind of punishment. Calzaghe would have been down around 10 times in the fight if he was hit by the same punches. In calzaghe's defense is that he is faster than Andrade and therefore may move away from at least some of them. Against Calzaghe is that his reach is much shorter than Andrade`s and that will suit Kessler perfectly. At any account Calzaghe will be a hard fight, but I think Kessler will beat Calzaghe Exactly how often have you seen Calzaghe rocked by punishment? He is a fighter who will take a load of punches so as to be able to give a few harder ones back. With that in mind, how many times have you seen him hurt? How many time has he looked likely to get knocked out. He has been down twice in his career, both whilst throwing a flurry of throws and being caught nicely. Each time he has hopped straight back up, showing no signs of being woozy and gone straight back to giving out punishment. Lacy was considered to be the P4P heaviest puncher in boxing at the time. How much punishment did he even manage to give Calzaghe? None. What makes you think that Kessler will be able to manage better? Calzaghe would've been down 10 times? Because he followed the Lacy fight up with BIKA, for fucks sake. 3. Because he looked like crap against Bika. 4 (and what sealed my disappointment). He's fighting MANFREDO next. Jesus christ. You might be right.. Calzaghe looked pretty shit in his last fight.. maybe age is catching up to him... But he is also a super fast puncher from ALL angles.. and is a Southpaw.. I dont want to blow up Calzaghe nearly as much as I just want to put kessler on a level.. he is good.. But his record cant come close to Joes.. and I am pretty sure he would lose to JC.. I agree that it won't be a Ko for Mikkel, but I honestly believe that he will be able to outpoint and flurry on Joe, due to his footwork and the angles that he fights from. You might be right.. Dont you think Kessler was tested yesterday,it was a very tough fight and a great fight No, it was not tough. He gave Andrade a boxing lesson.
