what do you think of the great ukranian boxer?
would he receive the same reputation mike tyson had in his primes ?? or would he continue to just be a regular fighter with little reputation?.
your thoughts about him as a boxer
would he be in the hall of fame with the legends of the past as well as his brother?.
thoughts :).
I wasnt a big fan of wlad at first , i saw him as a hype job from the germans . Plus i saw his defeat against a journeyman early in his career , when he quit on his tool , and to me his defeats against brewster and sanders arent "flukes" they KOd him clean for god sake .
but now i love to watch him fight , he is with james toney among the few HW with beautiful skills , he really has the perfect european boxing style , it s beautiful to watch . I think that HW tend to reach their primes at around 35 years old , so we may not have seen the best Wlad yet . Sadly , is there any HW out there to really test him now ? there is no greatness without great rivalries and great fights .
hes a solid heavyweight good all round skills and power a little slow but only becuase of his size ,shaky chin..hes weakness is a smaller fast explosive opponent but there are none right now in the heavyweight division ... for who ever was saying hes better then tyson, theres not a doubt in my mind that a younger tyson would have anighilated him.. way too slow for tyson or a young corrie sanders
he'd be nothing but weaker. he has little body fat as it is. his speed is maximized at his age and weight. he wont get any fasternot only that. he's too gigantic to be faster.
wlad needs to bring more to the ring, he has a long way to go to get up there.
Bring more in the ring?
He's only gone the distance two times his whole career. He's knocked 45 people out....that's as many as Tyson has, and he's demolished better opposition.
Tyson fought who? a Holmes who had to get a day pass from the nursing home? a blown up light heavyweight in Spinks? Lou Savarese?
I think you mean OUTSIDE of the ring. Maybe Wlad should rape a girl.

he is a good fighter dont get me wrong, but to get tysons rep or anything to close to that no he dont have that. wlad needs to bring more to the ring, he has a long way to go to get up there.
what if he looses atleast 10 or 15 lbs? or 20..would he still be the same or faster.

for a 6'6 245-250 lber he's as fast as hell. cant imagine its possible to be any faster at that sizewhat if he looses atleast 10 or 15 lbs? or 20..would he still be the same or faster.
I think he has finally come of age as a fighter, and I think he will likely be champion for a while to come.
With his new style of staying outside and letting the damage from his heavy hands accumulate, rather than trying to go in and bang and wearing himself out, he is going to be very hard to beat. It's going to take either someone with equal height and handspeed, or someone with very good defense, quick feet and bruising power to take him down if he continues to bo instead of rumble.
This said by a man who was very critical of him earlier in his career.
yea,,,the way he goes about fighting now its hard to imagine anyone beating him unless another corrie sanders comes along. he's the only guy that really beat him wihout any help from wlad himself

....Good to see you back on the Wlad bandwagon VB. I think you were always a closet Wlad fan and that's part of the reason you were so hard on him.

To become like Tyson was Wlad needs to unify his IBF title aginst WBA champ Valuev! Then give rematch to Brewster,Sanders,Peter and beat some 5 mandatory challengers! And retire as champ!
i just hope wlad doesnt loose again.
the thing most important to remember is that wlad is only 30 years old, he is the youngest top ten heavyweight aside from samuel peter (whom he has already beaten) he has no peer, the only guy on the horizon that shows the potential is probably povetkin, who is 27 himself, wlad was champ at 24
aside from peter only nicolai valuev stand any chance to beat him as i see it. if they are to fight, i am gonna fly to vegas and bet 10 grand on wlad if its anywhere close to even money. wlad will tee off on nicolai valuev like hes john daly tryin to hit a golf ball across niagara falls.
i wish someone would ask wladamir how long he intends on fighting... cause he keeps himself in such great shape.. plus barely gets touched in half of his fights... he could probably go until he was 37 or 38 easily....
just the fact that he has 50 fights under his belt at 30 years old is somewhat remarkable this day in age...
on his loss to purrity: i was looking at his record on boxrec, wlad fought only three weeks earlier so probably had not much idea about purrity.. never fought than 8 rounds,... and weighed in a full 6.5 pounds less than he had only 3 weeks earlier.... obviously a mismanaged situation to say the least..
i hope wlad avanges his loss to corrie sanders cause there is really nobody else any more worthy of fighting unless its a unification match.. i also would like to see him fight brewster but i dont think lamon seriously wants to fight wlad at thie point, sanders is probably the only one that does.
wlad is too fast for the big guys and too big for the fast guys... he just creates a mismatch in so many ways.. plus he has way more experience than all his opponents on top of it
He has to clean out the division like Lennox did in order to be considered great. He has to try to make every big fight possible happen, which seems to be impossible in todays game. No doubt he has the ability, but he has to want to go after it like Lewis did. Sue if he has to to make the big fights happen. It worked for Lennox...
