Reported by local Los Angeles channel 7 ABC Sports 11:26pm PST.
(Nice to see highlights of the fight on the networks)
Barrera claimed he was robbed.
I guess that means REMATCH.
They started the fight with gentlemanly respect.
It hasn't ended that way.
I just checked.
Roy's was a quick little combo. He did throw 2 compact shots.
The timing was FASTER.
Barrera's illegal shot was WORSE if you ask me..
He should have been DQ'd.
I wouldn't have cared.
I think there probably will be a rematch, but i dont think barrera was robbed, it was a good scrap. Lets see if pacquiao will finally do whats right and call out a fighter he hasnt beat like JMM.
he beat his balls enough for him to refuse 2 rematches against Pac. That's a victory to me in a way. :lol1:
Let's the have this conversation again after the rebroadcast next weekend.
Barrera did not win. :drillserg
Marquez did all the heavy lifting.
Barrera was countering, playing the superstar..
There was an unneeded emphasis on the issue of the KD by HBO.
There is an unneeded emphasis of it here.
It should have been a 2 point deduction or a DQ.. Nady only took a point.
He fucked that up too. Where's the debate on that??
That punch was very similiar in timing of the Jones Jr. DQ shot.
Roy's may have been quicker, even.. (?)
Most of all; Barrera FUCKED UP.
That foul negated his KD and could have cost him the fight..
Like I said before; DUMB move by a smart fighter.
barrera was robbed a few rounds in the decision but not the fight.
the sucker punch was even enough reason for him to lose it.
he may have also lost a few million dollars with a rematch with marquez. JMM would be the main man now.
had nady correctly called it a knockdown it would have never been an issue. Barrera even waited for a while, waiting for a call of some sort and nady didn't do shit.
I saw the fight much closer than the actual scorecards, and if the knockdown had been correctly called I even had MAB winning by a slight margin.
It was a great fight and its a shame there had to be controversy like that
There were a few rounds that could've gone either way but I clearly disagree with the scoring of the fight. If anything it should've been a draw. Perhaps my scoring the first 6 rounds for Barrera is off a bit, but there are others here who've posted scorecards giving Barrera only 3 rounds of the entire fight.
Either way Jay Nady made a bullshit call that altered the outcome of a fantastic fight. And it's not just Nady. I can't count the number of times guys have been knocked down only to have a dumb referee either rule it not a knockdown, or call it a slip. Never before have I seen one just stand there with his thumb up his ass the way Nady did last night though.
I don't know which is worse, judges or referees. They've both played a huge part in fucking up some of boxing's biggest matches over the last 60 years.
60-54 at the end of round 6? That's plain awful scoring.
Barrera clearly took the first 6 rounds. Thus resulting in a 60 to 54 scoring for the first half of the fight.
I'd also like to clear up an earlier mistake. The final score should've been 114 to 112 for Barrera, I forgot to type out the point deduction.
In MAB's defence.. he scored a legit knock down and had ZERO response from the ref.. If ref is NOT calling a Knock down then technically the fight is still on.. And MAB is within his rights .. Yes it was stupid.. BUT 3 seconds had already pased and NADY was nowhere.. :nonono:
Just so you know I am not being biased Even with the KD I still had Marquez up a point and the winner
I agree. I don't take anything away from Barrera for hitting Marquez when he was down, he waited for the referee to do his job, which he never did. Therefore the fight is still on, deducting a point from Barrera for continuing to fight was complete and utter bullshit.
Barrera controlled the fight for the first 6 rounds. At the end of 6 I had the fight 60 to 54 for Barrera. Round 7 I scored 10-8 for Barrera for the knockdown because that's how it should have been. At then end of 7 I had it 70 to 62 for Barrera. Rounds 8-12 I scored 10-9 all for Marquez. My end score was 115 to 112 for Barrera.
However that said there were some very close rounds that could've gone either way. And with the knockdown being ruled out, I had the fight a draw. Had the knockdown been counted as it should, Barrera won 7 rounds to 5 in my book.
Opinions are like assholes, I'm just showing you mine. **bends over**
Jim Lampley really needs to go. What a fuckwit, the bias towards Barerra last night was almost sickening. I used to put up with it because he could generate so much excitement, but no more. The guys just a fuckin' tool.
I don't think Barrera was robbed, but I definately think the fight was much closer than the judges had scored it. I think he was robbed of a few crucial rounds, up until the 7th it was all Barrera. So naturally if Marquez took the other 6 rounds, it was a draw. I also can't believe the bullshit call in the seventh to not call the knockdown Barrera scored a knockdown, Nady was completely inefficent in that ruling.
As for Barrera hitting Marquez when he was down, I disagree with that strongly and it pissed me off and I'm a huge Barrera fan. However I've seen the same situation in other fights and the fighters got off with a warning, no point deduction at all.
Barrera is going to win the rematch.

Barrera is going to win the rematch.
I thought Barrera won and deserved the nod but it was a close fight.
Was he robbed of a win? no it was a close fight
was he robbed of rounds and a knockdown? Yes
Barrera was treated unfair by the ref and judges and has every right to be pissed off. He'll feel better when he wins the rematch.
Yeah thats what I meant dude......I probably should have put it better! Just saying that it was closer than people are saying! Great fight I thought!
Don't trust boxrec, They put up rumored fights up all the time.
Barrera was robbed of a KD, and Nady should have stepped in. Berrera had pretty funny logic tho, when he said what happened at the end of the fight. Basicly he said I knocked him down and the ref didn't score it a knockdown b/c he didn't do anything, so I kept fighting. lol thats great, even though he shouldn't have done that.
Made me think of Prince Naseem/Kelley, when Naseem got knocked down and got right back up, and Kelley was still going after him and knocked him down again.
I think there probably will be a rematch, but i dont think barrera was robbed, it was a good scrap. Lets see if pacquiao will finally do whats right and call out a fighter he hasnt beat like JMM.
