Dudes
You checked out Ponce De Leon against that really old guy? Dude's nothing more than a jumed up guy with a bad ponytail.
Check out ringside seats, row two, opposite press row, there's a beached whale there, some old fat woman who's taking up three seats.
According to De Leon he is the one who wants a rematch. He said next time he'll be more carefull. Sounds like someone is not happy with his victory. Can't complain about the decision although I thought Penalosa snapped ponce de leon's head back more times than vice versa. Gerry wasn't hit cleanly at all the whole fight.
a rematch is better alternative to ponce than a marquez or a caballero ...
even a "boom boom" fight will be dangerous for him...
you throw in 1399 punches and not a single one to knockdown or even hurt a suppose to be old guy, a natural 115, has great disparity in terms of reach, age and power.
gerry may have not won be he exposed de leon as an over-rated bum who dont have a good fight plan other throw punches in the air and hopes he gets lucky.
bum is a harsh word, he aint a champion for nothing ...
but as shown in this fight he maybe the weakest champ at 122 ...
lolz! MEXICAN TARZAN is too wild... :lol1:
although, he threw alot of punches, none of them connected solidly homie :D
I don't care for a rematch, bring on the winner of the Rafa-Magnifico fight :)
L O L... man! PDL's technique is horrendous... he just throws 'em punches everywhere... too bad Gerry doesn't possess the power to hurt PDL... PDL's head was snapping back and forth all night long... but damn, 1400 punches thrown???

Gerry wasn't hit cleanly at all the whole fight.and all highlights in majority of rounds belong to gerry. I think ponce won by a small margin but I also think that he was very cautious in this fight which contradicts all the hypes about how he would kill gerry in the opening bell. If anything , gerry has shown the world that he is still a great technical fighter despite his age.

maybe gerry was just too good to make ponce look like an amateur ...
1000 punches how many landed??
the old man can still take a punch or ponce dont have power?? lol
I AGREE! I looked at him and said "why the hell is there any hype surrounding this guy at all?"
guy is like an amatuer
That wasn't a champion in there. That was an average fighter throwing a million punches and landing one, sometimes on the gloves, and sometimes on the hips, While the older guy threw 2 punches at a time and landed 1 each time and snapped the bigger man's head each time it lands.
Ponce is dead meat waiting to be schooled.
Ponce is a wild man waiting to be beaten up the way Gerry made a fool out of him. He was fortunate this time the volume of punches was all the judges could see. Well, that's all old judges ever see.
He was the one schooled all night. If not for the fact that Gerry was a lot older, he could have been kd'd several times by a very small guy who jumped up two weight divisions.
I won't be surprised to see de Leon made a fool by Caballero if they fought again. Much less, ko'd cold.
Your obviously not a true fan of boxing or truely know boxing if you refer to Gerry Penalosa as just some "really old guy."
Penalosa was a very good opponent. Very experience too. De Leon learned a lot from this fight. He actually surprised me at times with his ability to box on his toes.
Gerri got SCHOOLED by a crude PDL. That either speaks to how terrible Gerri is as a fighter or how good PDL is as a counterpuncher. I don't think he's a good counterpuncher, btw.
schooled? LOL!!!!!!!! winky vs tito was schooling. i know you know that.
I don't think Daniel Ponce De Leon has any technique, no strategy, and I think this is going to kick him in the arse later on in his career.

Some punches Gerry landed, if he had more power, he woulda really hurt Ponce. Ponce is lucky Gerry was so small and weaker looking compared to him cause another fighter woulda buried him. Ponce is similar to Vic Darchinyan. Maybe them 2 should fight. They both have awkward southpaw styles that are 1 dimensional yet pull them through. When they face some serious competition with guys that can equally punch as hard back, I think they'll both be in for a surprise. Gerry coulda been the man to do it though he's just too small for that weight so his punches weren't as effective and he was feeling the punches more than Ponce.
I don't wanna say he's all talk in that anyone ever really hyped him up too much, but the man can punch and throw. His technique seems amatuerish and at times just terrible, yet he makes up for that completely by throwing over 100 punches a round and over 1000 by the end of the fight. Gerry landed all the better shots though he got overwhelmed by the amount of punches Ponce threw.
