Reported on Ukrainian news channel 1+1...Sam Peter takes well above the reported 2.5 million step aside money and will wait to take on the winner of Vitali Klitschko - Oleg Maskaev. In his return, Vitali will fight for the WBC belt against Oleg on June 2 in Moscow. Both brothers will make the official announcement in Kiev in 2 days.
Peter's power is legit. He rocked Toney and Toney has one of the best chins in the history of the sport. The problem with Peter is he lacks the boxing skills to land that big punch consistently against top fighters...
his chin was great under heavyweight. he hasnt faced any huge punchers at heavy the only guy he fought with any power was peter,,,,who's as strong as an ox and has heavy hands but he's not a huge knockout puncher like so many like to think. his punches are too long and lack the snap to put the lights out on quality heavyweights with descent chins
It's a shame that a deserving challenger like Peter has been pushed to the side for a formerly retired champ to get a shot that he earned.
Yeah, I think its great he has balls to stand up for what is right and not take the money.......oh wait he took it. Never mind then, my bad.

Maybe that that sweetheart deal of 2.75 mil made he feel a bit better about it?
I heard the promoter is trying to get them all on a big mega-show in June. Not sure how he figures to make a profit on it. There ain't a lot of money in Russia these days. Unless they are willing to come up with a weird schedule, it won't succeed as a PPV.
that would be fucking sweet, finaly i can see it live without staying upp to 4 in the morning.
oh a card with vt-maskaev, briggs-ibragimov will defintly sell good

Ton of money in Russia you dont even know you just have to know the right places. They drive cars there that are coming out here in 2 3 years...
This is actually an interesting fight now when you factor in Vitali's inactivity and that he's injury prone. Sam Peter would probably knock them both out...
how about pointing out a class A or even B heavyweight for that matter that peter has been able to knock out? his power is so overrated its laughable. vitali at even 80% of himself beats peter easily
Leaked? Duva just sent out a presser last night pushing for Peter to get his shot.
Oleg Maskaev update!
WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev's promoter Dennis Rappaport told the Sacramento Bee's Jim Jenkins that a step-aside agreement with Sam Peter's people is "in place.....but there are a few more details to be worked out." In addition, there's now a new wrinkle in the proposed June 2 Oleg Maskaev-Vitali Klitschko fight in Moscow. Seminole Warriors Boxing has already announced that the WBO heavyweight title clash between champion Shannon Briggs and Sultan Ibragimov will take place on the same day in the same city.
nice, aint that the same date as briggs-ibragimov.
i just wonder how great event it could be if wlad valuev gets set on that date too

i still think oleg has a good chance of beating a guy that hasnt been in the ring for a while.
it is dangerous to jump right into a title shot after 2years of inactivity. vitali's timing will be off some,,,thats only natural and who knows if his legs will hold up
