heh, i was walkind down the hallway going to my room and heard a tv reporter talking about wladimir klitschko and went to my moms room to catch the highlights of him vs. austin. on top of that, i am seeing floyd mayweather on television a lot lately.
hehe, boxing will never die, and it seems to be picking up some mainstream appeal again. looks like the ufc will just have to share the spotlight.
finally ESPN shows some boxing. Like you said when the heavyweight division is exciting the popularity of boxing grows. Great fights also helps the popularity of boxing.
It's on Wlad. As long as he keeps knocking guys out, then it'll gain momentum. People like to see a dominant HW champ who knocks people out, then you get the drama of each title challenge, etc.
Basically what Wlad is trying to do is undo all the damage of the splitting of the titles and the Chris Byrds and John Ruizs of recent years. That just did not interest anyone and turned people off to boxing. As the HW division goes, so goes the sport. And the potential unifications looming have great chances to be KO's (one way or the other) Maskaev, Briggs, etc. They are KO or be-KO'd guys. So it's looking better and there's light at the end of the tunnel, just the right fights need to happen, and the unifications need to start.
Don King and the sanctioning bodies have been sucking the blood out of the sport, and doing damage to it long term, for short term gain. Hey, everyone is out for themselves, nothing new.
Klitschko vs. Valuev would be a much-needed boon to the heavyweight division...it has to be made, no other unification fight is makeable for a while, thanks to mandatories and the Vitali situation (Briggs-Ibrigamov and Maskaev-Vitali/Peter).
DK will kill Valuev-Klitschko, though, you can just see it.
......There was a full page ad of Wlad's pic in the USA Today newspaper on Friday that advertised the Wlad fight. It was on page two of the sports section. I think some Klit brothers domination of a few belts would completely bring back the heavies.

When the HW division starts getting more interesting, as does the popularity of boxing.
