I think after last night's mismatch, the thread question should be more like "who has a good chance of beating Wlad and additionally, can that fight be made?"
Right now, Don King stands in the way of a possible match with Valuev or Briggs;so you can automatically rule those two fights out.
What about Sam Peter or Oleg Maskaev? Well, they're both dead-locked in mediation now for the WBC title.
And, IMO, Lamon Brewster does not want his first fight back, to be with Wlad.
So, who does this leave us?
Corrie Sanders... If Sanders has an impressive showing in his next fight with Chris Koval and is in good shape, then a possible rematch with Wlad is not out of the question.
Lamon Brewster will beat him again, i cant wait till he comes back.
brewster will end up in a coma if he fights wlad again. he almost ended up there last time until wlad gassed out. he wont do that again,,,he's too seasoned and conservative these days
he had NO boxing ability against WLAD.
He has improved an INCREDIBLE amount.
How can anybody who knows boxing fail to see this?
He was throwing combinations, he was setting up his power shots better, he was beating toney to the punch when toney was against the ropes.
Wlad would have been finished in round 1 if he fought peter that night
hello? who couldnt have looked good against that version of toney? he was right there for the taking. you clearly havent seen peter's other fights when he's in shape. he's shown a good jab and descent combos in other fights. watch him against shufford and pudar. against wlad he was in great shape at 243 lbs but just couldnt cope with the reach,, speed and jab of wlad. wlads jab killed his. how you cant see this I'll never know. he cant reach wlad with his jab. he's just too short and doesnt have the reach. wlad isnt a 5'9 toney that stands right there. its obvious
LOL!!!
WHAT?!?!?!?!?!
Of coarse he does things better. he does virtually EVERYTHING better.
This would be a MUCH better fight , and a MUCH closer fight the second time around.
Peter will DEFINETLY knock him out nice and quick
peter couldnt knock out a fat clearly now shot 38 yr old toney in 24 rounds. couldnt stop john hawkins or shufford who was flattened by wlad. already got beat by wlad handily without those 3 bogus bs knockdown calls against a wlad that fought one of the worst fights of his life yet he'll win a rematch over a vastly improved fighter? dont see the logic on that one. peter has yet to stop a class B or better heavyweight and looking better over a shot fighter who couldnt move out of the way of his own 2 feet doesnt convince me he'd have any better chance than he did the first time
Some people are saying size isn't really an issue, but that simply isn't true; it's like the old saying goes, ''A good big guy will always beat a good little guy.'' Much smaller men need to make up for their size deficit by having exceptional qualities, and I just don't see great smaller men out there. I think if anyone will give Klitschko problems it will be a big guy.
Besides his brother, I can't think of anyone right now.
All it takes to beat Wladimir Klitschko is a little bit of skill and lots of heart. Few can match his talent and skill, but none of the guys who beat Klitschko were better than him. Ross Puritty isn't a great boxer but he did what he needed to do to win. Ray Austin had his chance and blew it. Klitschko has nearly everything a man would need to become one of the greatest heavyweights ever.....nearly everything. What he lacks is strength of mind. Give him some adversity and he collapses like a house of cards. Some of these clowns claim Klitschko has a glass jaw and no stamina, but they have no idea what they are talking about. His problem is emotional control. Give him something to worry about and that is what he will do. And that is how you beat him.
i will say it.
there is not one person who can consistantly beat wladimir. only get lucky once.
wlad looked sharp and extremely dangerous against austin. i could tell that his focus was where it should be. he looked mean, had an aggressive swagger to him, yet didn't carelessly throw out non meaningfull punches. the wladimir klitschko that fought austin would take anybody down, without breaking a sweat.
this, i am sure of. his look as he came into the ring told me everything i needed to know. and it showed in his fight.

The Cuban from the olympics. He will take the heavyweight division by storm. His name is Odlanier Solis and he is a 2004 Olympic gold medalist, two time Pan American Champion, and three time world amateur champion. He along with two teammates who escaped to America will turn pro April 13 here in Miami. The temmates accomplishments are just as impressive as his. Im very interested to see how they do.
As far as right now, I give Valuev a chance to be honest with you. Just because hes fukin huge and id be interested to see how Wlad fights when hes at a disadvantage when it comes to height and size considering he usually depends on them two things to win. He would have to really change his style. Peter has a good shot in a rematch too. Pretty much anyone with a good punch has a shot. Its just a matter of time before Wlad gets caught again.
both of those guy coyld have a chance i agree with both
another person he is a russian olyimpian too could do it sultonoivece at the least chance but still a chance
anyone with hand and legs to fight and comes in the ring have a chance but it depends on how big there chance are
I wouldn't consider either Chagaev or Sultan too small. They do just fine at their size. The big guys, aside from Wlad, have all shown themselves to be vulnerable to and competitive with smaller men. Even Lennox Lewis, one of the best big men ever, had trouble convincingly handling former cruiserweight Evander Holyfield.
Size isn't the issue in this division. It's consistency. No one fighter can ring up a string of wins in a row and look good in each fight. He either losses or looks like shit somewhere down the line. These guys just can't stay focused, they have trouble just winning three fights in a row, let alone looking good in all of them. Wlad is the closest to getting there as an established name, let's hope guys like Peter and Ibragimov can follow and continue to build impressive records of their own.
the only one that could take him is Vitali but it will never happen cuz their brothers but Samuel Peter is the only guy with a shot of beating him right now
Well I'm not sure wheather there's too many heavyweights out there who would have a good chance, but certainly I think there's people with a legitimate chance. Anyone who has punch resistance problems like Klitschko is going to have problems at some point, regardless of their ability. Briggs and Maskaev are punchers, and because of that, they have to be taken seriously, I think Briggs poses more threat out of the two. I think Valuev because of his sheer physical presence, will be a handful for anyone, but he just isn't that good at anything it seems. I think Klitschko would outbox him to a UD.
Samuel Peter isn't someone who I think will change the division, but he did have some success in his fight with Klitschko and if he improves he may well have a chance if a second fight comes around.
Chagaev isn't someone I've seen in all honesty, but he did beat Ruiz, which a lot of decent fighters have found difficult, but at a listing of around 6'1'', I doubt he would really have the range, unless he has an exceptional jab.
Tony Thompson is a guy who's won a few decent fights, but he's another guy I've seen little of. He seems to be a spolier type, he certainly has some range, but with no real indication that there's a huge amount of power there; maybe he's just another Ray Austin, who knows.
David Tua looks a shadow of his former self, Lamon Brewster looks as though his days are numbered, Audley Harrison didn't even get to European level, never mind world level; Roman Greenberg looks reasonable, but nothing special and the rest are either has-beens or guys who are unproven as of yet.
The Cuban fellow Gomez is someone with talent, but as yet he is in no position to really challenge. All in all Klitschko is beatable, but the division is full of mediocrity.
Read my later comment, and watch pre Wlad Peter, for fuck's sake.
What he said.
Peter didnt change fuckall.
Its just that Wlad didnt let him do jack shit.
He looked good against a fat fuck Toney whose 5 feet tall and had fuck all to offer with his fists or his head.

This may be your man, if you're looking for a Wlad slayer.
We'll see how he does this year.
He's way too small, Chief.

No, he does not. He was good against guys who were shit, his abilities were virtually nullified agaisnt Wlad.
he had NO boxing ability against WLAD.
He has improved an INCREDIBLE amount.
How can anybody who knows boxing fail to see this?
He was throwing combinations, he was setting up his power shots better, he was beating toney to the punch when toney was against the ropes.
Wlad would have been finished in round 1 if he fought peter that night
How will Wlad respond to the consistent pressure Sultan is going to bring to him? Ibragimov can keep it up almost all night when he's in shape too. Sultan would be a big test of Wlad's composure, he is not going to gas like Peter did if he comes in at 220. It'd be like a marathon endurance test of Wlad's stamina and heart.
We all saw how Wlad was surprised by Sander's straight left. Ibragimov isn't nearly as quick as Sanders, but he's still a southpaw who throws a mean left.
Anyone who is basing Ibragimov purely off of the Austin fight needs to expand his or her mind by watching his other fights.
Bro Sultan will not get past Briggs. I agree with you on many points but I just cannot get on the same page with you when it pertains to Sultan. Sultan will be on the receiving end of a terrible beating when he face's Briggs.
Briggs probably wouldn't last as long as Austin. Lyakhovich only managed to lose his won fight by ignoring his corner and standing right in front of him with his jaw sticking out asking to be knocked down. (What was wrong with Ly. that night anyway?)
ww
Lyakhovich was out of shape and he was still ahead on points heading into the 12th.
I believe if Sanders even at his current age comes into a fight against Peter in tip top shape, Sanders would knock Peter out relatively easy. Peter's wide, clubbing, swings would do Peter in very early. Sanders is a lightning quick straight puncher and by the time Peter's clubbing swings reach their target, Sanders would land two straight shots to Peter's chin and Peter would crumble.
We'll see how his chin holds up. That's the x factor here, how good is Ibragimov's chin really? I think it's pretty solid, but we'll know when he faces Briggs for sure. Assuming his chin is strong, with his style he is the 2nd most dangerous fight for Wlad, next to Peter.
Let him get by Briggs (which I think he'll do with relative ease) first and then we'll talk about Wlad-Ibragimov.
If Sanders gets on some sort of streak and beats a couple decent opponents, then I think Wlad should face him again. As well as Brewster if hes ever the same. Lewis avenged his losses, Wlad should do the same. As far as who could beat him right now. I dont think anyone would.
