I was just wondering what you guys thought of Andre Berto. I've seen him against Miguel Figueroa and Norberto Bravo. Against Figueroa he was dominating with some lapses in defense, but that was probably because Figueroa's punches didn't hurt him. Against Bravo it wasn't even close his speed and power were so overwhelming that Bravo looked like he was standing still. Every time he was getting up after he got knocked down he had that look on his face like what just happened. I know Berto hasn't fought anybody really good yet, but he looks like the real deal and I look forward to seeing him in big fights in the future.:boxing:
I like what I see from Berto so far.I'd like to see him in there against Joel Julio or Richard Gutirrez both of them were beaten when they stepped up and a win over either would tell us how far he is away from the top fighters.
All we know about so far is his physical abilities, which are awesome of course. Offensively what impresses me soo much is he has four punches which he throws with great speed, power, and technical soundness. His jab, right uppercut, straight right, and left hook. Who know what'll happen when he fights an opponent who really presses him and makes him think, but he looks spectacular soo far.
I think he will be pretty good one day and the champ, but I don't think he could beat Cotto right now. It would be exciting but Cotto has more experience.
he doesnt fight like it

i fear he is another jeff lacy . He is starting to believe his own hype , he will probably regress technicaly and turn into a limited one punch KO artist . and his style being so energetic , i dont think he can put this kind of pressure against a good boxer ala Quintana for 10 or 12 rounds .
that being said , i enjoy watching him fight , he really deserves his tv spots
Hes a very very solid prospect,u dnt come around prospects like him very often,he has 1 of the fastest jabs already, and the right hand is very dangerous,i think hes a future champ,i love watching Berto in action, the commentators on Sky Sports were saying hes a special kid,i also think Anthony Peterson and his brother are future champs
I think he would go very far as long as he improves his defense. I don't know if he has very good D right now. In the 2 fights I saw he didn't really need it.
Yeah it would most likely go the distance and reveal some of Berto's flaws but it would improve him in the long run! I suspect his stamina will be fine but u never know do ya!? It would be better than a quick win for him anyway thats for sure!
Yeah your right a huge victory over Urkal would put the pressure on for him to fight a champ. The good thing about the Urkal fight is that he might have to go the distance which I want to see. He has not gone past the sixth round yet and I want to see if he has the conditioning to do so.
Urkal would be a good test but if Berto destroyed him sumhow then the pressure would be on to fight the Cotto's and Mosleys of the division and i doubt he is ready - in other words his learning curve would be fucked! His team must be real confident in him tho which is a good sign! Tackie was another good oppenent, too bad he fell thru
Urkal wouldn't be bad he is definitely a game fighter, but his lack of punching power wouldn't hurt Berto. A fight with Urkal would show where he is at and how far he might go
Your right his chin is untested. We will see what he is really made of when that chin gets tested. I hope his next fight will be against somebody good that could at least pressure him a bit. His next fight is going to be on HBO "Boxing After Dark" I think sometime in April not quite sure.
Berto is A verry speacial kid. He is a rare find deffanatly. He Has speed power a untested chin and solid techniqe but that doesnt necesaraly mean he will be a title holder or a p4p lister but he deffanatly has the potential to do it.
Berto is a very promising prospect. He has a few flaws, which is ok since he's still learning, they're bringing him up slowly, which is good. That right hand is dynamite! I think in about 1 or 2 yrs we'll know what's he about.
