Personally from what I have seen he has got the goods. He has beaten guys easily that top 10 guys have struggled with. I think he is going to have a problem finding meaningful fights soon with him being in germany. If he can ever get over to the states it will be good for the divison.
JD, I've resurected this thread because IMO Povetkin is the most exciting up-and-coming European fighter out there. IMO, his brawling style and aggressiveness would be enough to destroy Dimitrenko.
I am fairly interested. I was much more interested when I had just read about him and hadn't seen him yet though. He at this point in his career has no jab or defense. He has plenty of time to rectify this and obviously has some talents to work with, so I'm fairly interested.
Yeah, I'm quite interested in following Povetkin's progress. He's done nicely up to now, got some names on his record. The fight against Bostice was probably his best so far. I'm not convinced he'll be as successful as many people think however. I don't think he'll dominate the division, that's for sure. He seems a bit open defense wise and isn't all that big compared to many guys out there. All in all, so far, so good though and he's a decent bet to win a title, given there's four of them out there.
Im interested in a lot of the Eastern European fighters, Povetkin,Dmitrenko,Virchis,Boytsov but it will take a awhile for any of these guys to burst on to the seen and a lot of them for some reason are taking their time?
It might be appearant by sig, but I have tracked Povetkib for some time. His next fight May 5th will be aginst limited but durable Leo Nolan. Povetkin will give any heavyweight right now fits. He can't beat them all but he is more than tough.
I have not seen his fights, but I'd like to.
He's definitely(lennox) worth checking out; he's a brawler with decent power and a killer instinct. In his last fight he beat seasoned veteran David Bostice in two rounds. Of all the hw prospects fighting now, he's probably the most exciting and promising because of his brawling style and punching power. Check him out on youtube.
For 11 fights as a pro, he is fighting a very high level of opposition, we'll see how he does when he steppes up the ladder. He's not bad but lacks in defense a bit IMO.
