Just another fight
Just wanting to get a feel for how much everyone thinks a loss to Oscar would mean to Floyd's p4p ranking and reputation?
I believe that "when" PBF loses he will only become a humble and more agressive fighter; he will learn from his mistakes and he will join forces with his father and tear the division up.
if he loose even in a close fight, automatically he will be knocked out no.1 p4p spot ... either pac or wright will be pushed to no. 1 spot
unless you will make the p4p list maybe later or the end of this year, in which case anything can still happen ...
He would fall behind Pacquiao and Wright and be at #3. This is of course assuming that he drops down from 154 if he loses to De La Hoya. If he was to lose and stay at 154 then he would be lower than 3, and De La Hoya would have to be ahead of him.
He took this fight for that purpose. He needs the win more than Oscar does. If he wins he begins to secure his legacy. If he loses he was a pretty good fighter. He has a lot at stake. Maybe that's why he's talking/acting like a baffoon. I think that's why I favor him so much. He needs this fight more than Oscar does, he has the skills and he'll come prepared.
I wouldn't read too much into a man who could of probably stayed at 135 his entire career, losing a fight at 154, 5 divisions up from where he started, his first fight at 154, against one of the greatest fighters of this era.
supposely he is gonna retire but and when he losses he is not, he cant go out like that having a lose, but who cares no ones likes him.. Floyd is Done.. thats all
Floyd's rep & P4P status will drop "alot" no matter how much he loses by because people hate him so much that they just cant wait for him to lose. If you think its bad now then let him lose and see what happeneds. There will be so many bad things said and articles wrote. It will be completely unfair. Even if you can 100% see that he lost only because the weight was too much, it still wont be reported that way. There waiting for there chance to prounce on him & rip him apart
After a loss to Oscar Floyd would most likely fall from his perch as #1 pound for pound. Many things need to be taken into account. Pacquiao is fighting a relatively unknown Solis- which must be taken into account even if he fights against the winner of Barrera-Marquez, and Wright is fighting Bernard...a fight that will gain him much respect if he wins. That means the P4P rankings would be very effected by the unresolved fights. Does Manny win against Solis- he should- but does he then fight Barrera or Marquez? Does he win? Does Winky beat Hopkins? Does Mayweather suffer a close loss, does he rematch? Does he win a rematch? It's hard to say exactly what the rankings would look like.
For instance: Floyd losses a tough fight, rematches and wins a close rematch. Winky beats Bernard. Manny losses to Barrera in a rematch. What does it look like then? Well...Floyd could stay on top..but in this scenario (one of many) I'd say :
1.) Winky Wright
2.) Floyd Mayweather
3.) Marco Antonio Barrera
This is just one scenario of many. Who knows.
3.)
