LOL I know this fight will never happen and it is a little premature to even talk about but I have not be this excited about a prospect in a long time. I would put him up against PBF right now. I know he would get hit but i don't think Floyd could hurt him and you know damn well Berto would really hurt floyd if he caught him.
We musta bin watching another fight because i didnt barely see Figueroa land anything on Berto, here and there a punch or 2,and i say he is a boxer/puncher because he doesnt just come foward,he works behind the jab, throws hooks to the body, uppercuts, takes his time to find openings,i wouldent call him a power fighter, where as Julio just comes foward, throws some power shots, hardly any snap, and head hunts
Figueroa wasnt throwing much, he was overwhelmed by Berto must of the time, but when he did throw he landed frequently, those were slow shots you could see from a mile away. Berto does work behind the jab, works the body and throws good hooks and uppercuts, you're expected to do that as a professional fighter. In my book, a boxer/puncher is that who fights at angles, slip punches, counters and takes his time not to get hit and let the accumulation of his punches stop his opponents. Sorry, but I dont see this in Berto. Then again, with the level of competition he has had, probably didn't need to. Lets see when they raise his level of opposition to see where he stands.
My point on the Mejias fight was that he seemed a total different fighter than the one who fought Quintana and for that sake Cosme Rivera too.
Why would you say Berto is a boxer/puncher? I've seen him fight 3 times and I don't see any deffense or boxing from him, hell even slow ass Miguel Figueroa was landing everything he had on Berto, but Berto was just too strong for him.

I think Julio fell in love with his power too damn soon, Mejias was a south paw as well, obviously not in the same level of Quintana and Julio had not problem landing his jab and finding him. I also think the heat took everything outta Julio for the Quintana fight.
Footwork is what seperates the skill level of fighters. Mejias doesnt understand how to rotate his hips like Quintana.
Yep i seen the Majias fight, that was the one where he was dancing after the fight right? :D it wasnt as impressive as some of Julios other fights, ive seen alot of Julios fights, but ive been much more impressed with Berto,Julio isnt as fast, and i would class Julio as a puncher,id class Berto as a boxer/puncher

Julio did have a jab, for some reason he never showed it on the Quintana fight, he could also box a little bit and was very good cutting off the ring (again except in the Quintana fight), these are traits I look for in young punchers, which seems to be the case in Berto. Did you see the Mejias fight?

The reason, Quintana is a southpaw. His stance takes away the jab of an orthodox fighter. Julio has a mediocre jab coming into the fight. Quintana just exposed him.

How do u figure Julio looked sharper than Berto? Julio never had a solid jab or rapid speed,he just had a very powerful right, and he got caught alot,Berto is one of the fastest boxers today, got devastating power,i doubt Bertos 1 dimensional like Julio is,and to the question,no Bertos not ready for Floyd, but hes gna be something special soon, even PBF said he likes Berto

Yeah Floyd did say that. Berto can be a champion as long as he doesn't get put in there too quickly.
Julio looked a lot sharper than Berto does, we saw what happened to Julio when he stepped up in comp. Berto against PBF? Berto has a lot to prove before we even consider that fight.

Yeah he's too flatfooted now. I wanna see him fight someone who can "move". Floyd would give him a boxing lesson. I don't see much defense from Berto yet either. He hasn't beaten any top competition yet. The fights I've seen him in his opponent stood in front of him.
His hand speed is amazing...he would most definitely hit floyd.
His handspeed wouldnt even be a factor of hitting Floyd. If he loads up Floyd can see it a mile away. He'd take away Berto's right hand and make him show Floyd his left hand. Which I think is marginal. Berto is extremely rough, he doesnt have the cunning and maturity/ring experience like Castillo to set up traps for Floyd. Notice how Castillo let Floyd run around but cut the ring off, it was so smoothly done. Berto would be chasing and getting peppered with righthands all night.

Quite the opposite.
Maybe Berto someday evolves into an all time great, but right now he is far to immature to even consider getting in the ring with a guy like PBF
and we dont know what he'll mature into. He may never be good enough
Can he catch PBF flush? Berto fights extremely flatfooted. He is still using that ametuer/Olympic fighting stance of standing tall. I dont think he could catch Floyd.
