It's sad two retired champs have to unretire just to attempt to give the heavyweight division the prestige is once had.
agree.
but we do have wladimir. having said that, he is all we have right now.
nobody wants bummy-ass briggs who is lucky he can fight 6 rounds. of course, his pace makes him as boring as john ruiz.
sam peter puts a bit of excitement in too. but that is because we are all watching to see when he will kill someone with a punch to the back of the head.
Yeah well the thing is that judging by the shape that Lewis came in at it seems he may have been taking his expected opponent a bit lightly, plus Johnson is 6'2 whereas Vitaly is 6'7. Besides, i dont see how you can argue about who it was that was relatively less prepared based on their respective expected opponents, thats slicing it a bit thin for me, i think it was obvious though that for whatever reason lewis was not fully prepared for this fight, and Vitaly did in fact look to be in better shape that night of the two.
yes,,,,I agree with that
uh,,,,vitali was preparing for david boswell who is a hell of a lot less a fighter than kirk johnson so lewis would have been a hell of a lot more prepared than vitali. anyway,,if lewis was coming back he'd have done so for the rematch long ago back when vitali and the public were clamoring for it

My understanding is that if he did come back it would be BECAUSE of Vitaly coming back as that is a huge money fight and all. here's another article i saw on this earlier.

I think its way too early though to believe hes actually coming back. But lets not forget that the Lewis that fought Vitaly was fighting at the heaviest weight of his carreer and that Vitaly was a late substitute for Kirk Johnson so here clearly wasnt in proper shape or properly prepared for that fight.

He was fading when he retired, I can't see him coming back and being a world beater now. Besides which he has a ton of money and other sources of income.
Hopefully rumor. Lewis is old and rusted by now. Then again, Foreman was too, so who knows.
Vitaly needs to shut his trap. He lost that fight against a fighter that was past his prime. Trying to call out a man that is 40+ is terrible. Vitaly should still be ashamed he "retired" against Chris Byrd.
