In what may have been an inaccurrate or throwaway line on last night's all-star telecast, Kenny Smith said that Mosley would be on the PPV undercard of Hopkins-Wright. Winky and a lot of boxing stars were at the game so its possible he was directly told this. I was very surprised to hear this because even if Shane fought a Cintron type his purse would still exceed one million dollars which is a lot for an undercard fighter. Plus, I would have though HBO would want him on his own card a week later if not in June when Shane wanted to fight. Lastly, I suppose there is a chance that HBO is worrying about how a boring PPV main event such as this one might sell so they could had a star like Mosley and make it seem much more worth getting.
Shane fought in PPV co-features with his fight against Estrada being on the same PPV with Margarito-Cintron and then he fought Cruz on the Barrera-Peden card which was Goldenboy promoted. Thus, I guess its certainly possible however those two cards had something uniquely different. Both had co-features with one star fighter taking the lion's share of the money and then the opponents making significantly less. You know Hopkins and Wright are going to make a fortune fighting each other, Shane will be in the 7 figures, and a champion like cintron isn't going to fight for FNF type money. That's why I am skeptical but clearly Wright or Hopkins was goign around saying it so who knows. I will tell you this, admittedly as a Shane fan, I would not buy Wright-Hopkins normally but if Molsey fought Cintron I would buy the card. So maybe there is a financial reason to do this if enough fence-sitters like myself were willing to pony up with Shane fighting
Let's remember that to the big wigs at HBO and Oscar & co. at Goldenboy promotions these pay per view fight stuff their pockets. This is how they make their money. I would think they must have only three possible thoughts if they want to put Mosley on the Hopkins-Wright under card:
1.) Putting Mosley on the card allows them to advertise the fight in such a way that they feel they'll make more money than Mosley being on his own, seperate pay-per-view.
2.) Hopkins-Wright needs the boost in publicity Shane can give it...that it won't sell well alone.
3.) There is no one pay-per-view worthy for Mosley to fight, so he may as well keep busy and have a good showing on the under card of a highly watched fight.
If one of those three isn't in their reasoning I'm going to assume they put Shane on his own PPV and make extra money.
This is mostly in line with my thinking. Shane can't sell his own PPV, no way. Look at the crowd for the Collazo fight...yikes. Any Mosley PPV has to be with a marquee name with a loyal fan base like Cotto or, of course, DLH. If Cintron is the guy he fights next, putting it under Winky-Hopkins makes perfect sense to me. After all, even a Mosley-Cintron WCB headliner wouldn't do too much better than Mosley-Collazo, so why not do this instead?
I love the idea and I hope it happens...but again, ONLY if the opponent is Cintron.

If Mosley is on that card, expect a bum in the opposite corner. There's just no way this is right. Mosley is too old to be fighting bums without belts. If he's fighting Cintron, he'll do it on his own show somewhere. Something doesn't add up and I seriously doubt Mosley ends up on that card.
I see your point, but this is Mosley we're talking about, not Mayweather or Winky or another guy who is known to have ego issues with being a co-feature. Mosley seems like the exception to the rule, willing to take a backseat (and a little less money than usual) to two big names to fight a lesser name (still thinking Cintron) as the co-feature.
Besides, this would probably turn into a double main event PPV and be promoted as such. The posters would surely have all four fighters featured, much like the DLH-Sturm/Hopkins-Allen III PPV. Anytime you can put the names Hopkins, Wright and Mosley on the same poster you do it. The other televised fights would probably be throw-aways with Rock Allen, Abner Mares or another Bautista fight for showcase purposes to save money, because no doubt the two big fights will be pricy. But I think it's possible, and it's a great idea seeing as BHop-Winky is not a dream style match up at all.
I don't dispute it's good for fans. I'm not saying that it wouldn't make the Wright-Hopkins fight that much better for Shane to be on the under card....but...this must suck to be Mosley. Sure, he's still getting decent paydays but he's at the twilight of his career and he's fighting on regular HBO and on under card fights for his Golden Boy Promotions brothers. He already had to take a back seat with fighting Mayweather. Every time he speaks of that he has a resigned smile and says, "Well...I...want to fight the best...but Floyd is busy with Oscar...so...they're all tied up." Now he's being relegated to fighting as a bonus to a main fight that does not feature him. Tough break for an ex-champion and a guy who once held the all-time KO percentage record.

I gotta agree with that.

Sounds good more exciting cards should be brought together like this.

I think it would be Cintron if Kermit can get past his legal troubles. I think Shane wouldn't mind fighting Baldomir but HBO has said they don't want that fight. Not sure if they have a choice on a PPV card though. I'd put my money on it being Cintron
Quick additional note: With the money GBP will rake in for the DLH-Mayweather PPV, putting a second big fight on this PPV shouldn't be too economically difficult.
In fact, DLH could finance this whole thing from his personal savings account and not bat an eyelash, so I think it's very possible...
Yes, Mosley-Cintron sounds like a fine co-feature for the Hopkins-Winky PPV and it makes perfect sense.
Mosley-Cintron could certainly headline a WCB, but this is better for everyone--fans, HBO and GBP alike.
Winky and Bernard are my two favorite fighters, but I'm a realist--this isn't going to do much PPV at all based on the main event. A Mosley-Cintron co-feature is an awesome addition to the card, if it indeed works out that way.
I would hope it would in fact be Cintron and not some 'tune-up' opponent, though.
