I know that here, It is unlikely for anyone to say yes. But if you do, show your face, it's ok, I want to see if anyone does. If you don't want to post it, you can pm me. Of course, there are many schools of thought on the subject. Such as, the fighter knows the risks, and what he is getting into.
Have you seen what mcclennan is like now?
Pretty bad..
Anyway if I can get enough on both sides ( hopefully 5.) I would like to organise a debate in the thunderdrome
fighters should be forced to retire at a certain. Depending on brain scans and such.
And the #1 cause of death in a fighter is a mismatch. A much better guy pounds away at a VERY tough untalented fighter. And he gets brutally beaten for 5 rounds when the fight SHOULD have been stopped in round 1.
And not only is there more dangerous SPORTS, but there are HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of FAAAAAAAAAAR more dangerous jobs around the world then boxing.
But everyone knows the danger of boxing and they accpept the ressponsibility

Rick Reeno banned a new user for a thread like this once...

Yet another question on this forum that doesn't require a answer. I think they would be more interested in this post on the Greenpeace forum.
If boxing should be banned because people can have tragic things happen to them... then these things should be banned too.
Astronauts
Stunt Devils
Car racing
Construction
Everyday Normal Driving
You get the point.
some of these thing that you mention are really important to society so you cant take them out maybe stunt devil and car racing. anyway both stunt devil and car racing is much safer than combat sport because the people there are well equipt
no if they wanna ban a fighting sport it should be the ufc or pride
I think they should limit fighters in fighting numbers of fight or see some coordination and other health stuff. UFC and Pride is more os a fighting than sport unlike boxing. If boxing was really fought in a boxing matter then there will be less people getting hurt
Boxing is actually more dangerous than MMA because the fighters take more blows to the head, but even then, they know what they are getting into.
The NFL is actually the sport that is taking a huge hit from the media for its danger.
Pretty silly question to ask a boxing forum.
Have you seen the interviews with ex-NFL players violently going after the league to give them compensation for the injuries incurred on the field? Old hall-of-fame football players who can barely walk, some who have mental problems, massive spinal and joint injuries, etc.
You ban boxing you have to ban UFC, MMA, Kickboxing- all right off the bat.
Next you have to ban football for being violent, too.
Soon no contact sport is free of the risk of being outlawed.
No sport is safe. Every athletic contest carries with it the risk of being hurt. It is just more apparent with boxing due to the nature of the sport.
If boxing should be banned because people can have tragic things happen to them... then these things should be banned too.

First of all banning boxing sends it underground. A lot of the people fighting will be still fighting but without the opportunity to make real money from it. Proceeds will go straight into the hands of criminal gangsters (no, I'm not talking about Don King!) and the sport will be horrendous. Second thing is that if we banned a sport every time there was a fatality then we wouldn't have any sports left. Maybe chess...
I dont know, some of those pieces are pretty pointy.
But yeh, thats a very good point.

Boxing, in its own and different form, has been around for many centuries. People love to watch combat sports. If boxing goes away, let it be for the wrong reasons, as in too much corruption in the sport. Fighters get paid good money to risk their lives out there, anyone who can't see that doesn't need to follow the sport. If boxing goes away, maybe MMA or some other sort of combat sport will take over, as it is right now, and its just as brutal as boxing. So in other words, no its shouldn't be banned.
I had a feeling this thread would be from seeing Mclennan last night, Same thing with Michael Watson aswell. Just lucky things like this dont happen to often in boxing
maybe it does but for some people is less obivous and there are many boxers that go there to make a prospect look good and get a beating just to feed himseld maybe not in the us but i think in other coutries it would be.
but if someone had a chance to have a better education it a was of time to go to boxing that my opoin
but other martial arts such as judo and ju juistu it most grapple and if the oppenet taps out it gameover
SHOULD THIS GUY BE BANNED FROM MAKING POSTS????
He obviously doesn't know of Matts superstar status on BS so we'l just let him off with this one :boxing:
