I tried to unsuccessfully bang this German girl like ten years ago. She knew nothing about sports, but she was very familar with who Maske was. That just shows how big he was in Germany. He had a great Southpaw jab, but kind of a straight up European style. He was very effective as a fighter for along time.

You fought Maske in Germany right Ice? What was the experience like & was it a hostile crowd?

Henry Maske was a VERY good boxer who is unappreciated here because he fought always in Germany. He was world amateur champ and the 1988 Olympic Golde Medalist. He made ten title defenses and defeated Prince charles Williams to capture the title in theifrst place. He was 6 ft 3 or maybe even slightly taller. great discipline, jab etc. Even Roy Jones when he was in his prime said maske would be a very difficult fight

Was this guy any good before he retired?? i think he deserves credit for taking on someone like hill after such a long lay-off. I doubt he will stand a chance against Hill being out of the ring for so long. Maske was allready on the slide the first time around. I don't think a long lay-off will improve that. The reason he takes Hill is because he is the only one to beat him and therefore a rematch will be the one fight that can generate money.
