i challenge anyone to bring forth any piece of news or document that states lamon brewster is anywhere near returning to boxing....
the fact that he has been silent this long should tell you that the outlook isnt all that great
there was an articel on esb some time ago claiming that lamon is healthy and ready to comeback
lennox is a different story, after golata he got with mcgirt and went back to a short docile power puncher.. mcgirt ruined him against lycovich
mcgirt ruined him huh. then what happened against entienne,,,shufford and meehan? the guy has good power and tremendous heart but he's very beatable, just box him and dont blow your wad and you have a good chance of beating him
Corrie is a very good athlete in general. I've heard from a former pro journeyman who trained and sparred with him that Sanders runs the 100 in 10 seconds and can drive a golf ball over 300 yards (really good for someone who hasn't been training his whole life for golf).
You'd never know it by looking at his physique but the guy has a lot of fast twich muscle fiber. In boxing this translates to an almost unnatural speed and punching power for a man of his build. He's the Max Baer of this generation, only instead of partying and courting Hollywood foxes, his vices are food and golf.
Haha, I know he was considering being a professional golfer, so I can believe the driving a golf ball over 300 yards.
Saying that a 6'5" 240 lb man can run a 100m spring in 10 seconds is ridiculous. The bronze medallist at the last olympics ran the 100m in 10.04 s. Corrie Sanders doesn't even look like he has fast feet in the ring. Good handspeed definately, but he seems to be very flatfooted. Sanders does seem to be a bit of wasted talent.
If Brewster fought like that every time he would be the star of the division. As to whether he would be the undisputed champion is another matter. Putting on a good show for one round isn't too terribly difficult. Against somebody like Lennox Lewis he may have to do it for 12 rounds. That is not so easy.
...I read on his bio one time that he was also a sprinter back in his youth.

Brewster is not a great boxer but what he does have is a solid chin and power in his fists. He is the type of fighter that really needs a trainer who brings out those attributes as the longer a fight last, the more problems Brew will encounter making it harder to win distance fights. At the time of the Golata fight Brew was trained by Jesse Reid. Reid is perfect for someone like Brewster and really brought the best out of him. Shortly after, Lamon ditched Reid for celebrity trainer Buddy McGirt and the lack of aggression showed as Buddy just does not motivate his fighters. McGirt is very overrated. Brew should return to Reid and I think we will see the beast we saw against Golota.
It Will Work In This Diviosn 2007 Becuase Of The Speed And Power.. Any Tall Goofy Heavyweight Cant Get Away From Theose Shots.. Klitchkos Are Too Slow And Goofy.. Thats How You Beat The Giants.. Like Dempsey Tyson And Frazier Used To.. U Dont Box Them U Attack Full Fuckin Force And Move Your Head
your forgetting that brewster did come out against wlad agressively in the first round like he did with golota but wlad thwarted it. brewster couldnt get anything going until wlad gassed
i love brewster but he's not the greatest boxer out there, but i give him credit for being smart enough to see the swarming style was perfect to destroy the foul pole. i don't think brew's coming back, a detached retina takes a couple years to heal, and at brew's age he doesn't have a couple years. he's a puncher, puncher's age faster than boxers cause they eat a lot more punishment. i'll always be a fan of brew, who else could get knocked down five times in one fight and never give up, but get up and still be trying to win the fight?
what do you mean by goofy? how can I respond to that?
It doesn't matter if the big guy is a bit slow, if they are strong enough to tie him up. Wladimir Klitschko is definately not slow, he has very good handspeed for a heavyweight. Vitali Klitschko doesn't have the greatest handspeed, but he is extremely strong and very smart and wouldn't just freeze. Plus he has a good chin. I don't even think Brewster could beat Jameel McLine by rushing him like that to be honest.
As far as the guy's being goofy you have to better explain yourself.
THOSE TALL FIGHTERS CANT TAKE TAKE PRESSURE THEYRE TO SLOW EVEN WLAD LOOKS VERY SLOW . TYSON OR DEMPSEY WOULD HAVE RAN RIGHT THROUGH THEM. VITALI IS A DEFENSIVE FIGHTER HE WOULD FAIR BETTER.. BUT WLAD WOULD GET KILLED JUST LIKE SANDERS DID TO HIM .. THERE SKILLS ARENT GREAT, ITS THERE SIZE FIGHTERS COME IN AT 6,2 AND TRY TO BOX A GIANT , ATTACK THE MUTHA FUCKA FURIOUSLY DO MAD ROADWORK AND COME TO ATTACK AND YOU WILL STOP THEM MORE TIMES THEN NOT.. DONT PLAY SLOW CHESS WITH A SLOW MAN PLAY FAST CHESS WIH THAT SLOW MAN.. MCLINE IS FAST
NOT WHEN THE GUYS HES FIGHTING ARE SLOW AND GOOFY OVER 6'6

Brewster fought like that because Golota caved in the first 3 seconds of that beating. If Golota actually hit back with anything resembling a real punch, Brewster would not have been able to just tee off on him like that. Great victory for Brewster but don't try to make it sound like he could fight like that against Wlad, Peter, Valuev, etc. and have the same success.
i dont have the time to go back and watch right now but im pretty sure brewster came out bombing against wladamir and wlad tied him up, hit him back and backed him off and brewster called the bullrush off after about 20 seconds
Yup..... ;)
No real arguement; but, remember, Golota was an extremely stiff fighter in the early rounds and one who can't fight backing up.....he doesn't counter-punch well. Not dissing my man, Jelly; but just because he could do THAT to to Golota, it doesn't necessarily mean he'd do it to "every" fighter out there.

Attacking full fucking force and moving your head is a lot more difficult when the guy is throwing punches back, rather than just stiffening up and holding the chin high in the air while other guy is unloading.
The Klitschkos would have simply tied Brewster up repeatedly at the very start when he is rushing in, and probably take over in the second half of the round, going on to win the fight. Lewis would have nailed Brewster with an uppercut if he tried to charge in like that, and it wouldn't be Brewster with the early knockout.

yeah he was a true jack of all trades and master of none,
he could have been a h/weight force if he didn't wanna be a golf pro at the same time.
but he did become the first to expose wlads chin!!
