This has probably been discussed before, but would you consider Mixed Martial Arts to be a threat to boxing?
MMA is becoming more and more popular, and i'm getting the impression that MMA is making more of an impression on the youth of today. However, i was glad to hear that Amateur boxing is being reintroduced as part of the curriculum at some schools in britain.
What are your thoughts?
Which are exactly my thoughts, but believe it or not there are those in the UK, and possibly worldwide, who would argue that MMA will eventually overshadow boxing, and the subject is currently a topic of discussion, especially around the amateur scene in England. As i stated at the start of the thread, i realised that this subject had probably been discussed to death, or even tenfold on this forum, and apologies if that p*sses you off, but i am interested in opinions on the subject at the moment, and i did feel that the post was relevant in that respect.
Just let it go...
There's boxing.
And there's MMA. That's that.

I haven't got a vast enough knowledge of MMA to have any disdain for it, but i certainly don't think that it's a bad thing, however, the questions being asked around the u.k at the moment are asking whether MMA is becoming more popular than boxing. Fair enough if you are tired of discussing the subject and see no point, but i haven't involved myself in any of them before, and i am interested in people's views and knowledge, which you may very well have plenty of. However, if you think something has been done tenfold and blah blah blah, then why waste your time expressing your opinion?
Also, to answer your earlier question...
Yes, i do hope that a successful youth system is set up that re-educates more children, and promotes an interest in boxing and it's values, because i love boxing, and i am glad that it is being utilised in this way.

That reinforces my earlier questions.
What answers are you looking for in this discussion? Oh I sure hope they set up a successful youth boxing system that re-educates our children and persuades them to become more interested in boxing as opposed to MMA?
Boxing has a proud tradition and MMA blah blah blah?
What type of answer? because they've been done tenfold and this discussion is the opposite of open ended. It's merely asking for people's views on re educating people about boxing....while subtly expressing your disdain for MMA.

Fair comment, but i have not really involved myself in them, and the subject has only been raised again in England in light of the education system reintroducing boxing as a part of the curriculum.

The answer is no, subject has been beaten to death. About 200 other threads discussing the same thing.

This topic isn't even interesting anymore.
Why did you make this thread? What do you want? Do you want everyone reading it to tell others to quit watching MMA and stick to boxing? What?
I made this thread because the subject is relevant to me, if it doesn't interest you then don't post anything!
Of course i don't want others to quit watching MMA, that is a ridiculous question.
I don't see it as a threat.Boxing has a long and established history. It's not going anywhere. If anything MMA brings attention to other combat sports such as boxing.People need to remember that boxing was hurting long before MMA came around. We did it to ourselves!
