It's a simple question, was Tyson great or not? His career is over and now we can look back. He had his ups and downs, but I think when it's all said and done he belongs up their with Dempsey,Ali,Louis,Marciano,Johnson. Maby Tyson wasnt the greatest, but I think he was one of them.
What do you guys think?
Mike Tyson is fuckin sick, it was a blessing to witness his greatness. He is the ambassador of this sport, not leonard, not armstrong, not pep. Mike Fuckin Tyson.
:hail: Great

i dont think thats good tho, he might of been better light.. but he didnt like being the small guy
he was the smalle guy most of the time, i sy in 70% of his fights
to be fair tyson did gain weight and blow up to like 230 something to compete with the big boys

yes i belive no man his size would have ever beat him. hoyfield had 10-15 pounds of muscle on an undertrained fat tyson the both weighed 218 for the second fight and holyfeild must of had zero percent body fat ive never seen anything like that he had to be on somehing... danny willams 265 mcbride 270 lewis 250 douglass 230 and 6'4... only a skilled tall man who was also physically bigger and stronger would have shot. but tyson could even beat hem if his mind was right and he didnt just try to blast them out

Easiest question ever. Yes.
Never quite same fighter after prison.
He lacked heart as an amateur. Ask Teddy Atlas.
He was an incredibly entertaining fighter and he had the raw physicality and the skills to have been the greatest of all time, but his heart, his attitude and his lack of discipline were the things to barred his path to greatness. Boxing is a mental game and I don't think that Tyson had the mental strength to be an all time great.
first off teddy is a hater. did u hear him on tyson marathon on espn class? enough said right there.ahaha
Tyson had heart

Reigning at the top for only a couple of years only to lose to a relative nobody and go on to never win an important fight again....
He was a destructive force but no great champion.
It pisses me off when people diss Mikes Stamina too, he fought a very tireing style at a fast past for 12 rounds solid no problem in his prime too! I actually remember commentators saying "Tyson would be 1 of the few fighters around today that would prefer the 15round distance!" His power faded a lil but he kept bringin it with hurtfull shots all day long when he had too
yeah ppl talk down on his stamina but i dare some1 to try that style for 3 rounds and there respect for mike will skyrocket.

That's a great post, this man knows what he's talking about.
I became a Tyson fan 6 months after his last fight when I saw a prime Tyson on ESPN Classics.
To this day I still get these feelings I cant describe with words when I watch him. I can be very angry or depressed and start watching Tyson and I became sooooo relaxed. It feels like a drug or something. I remember jumping out of my seat cheering when he knocked this guy down, and the fight was 20 years ago! :D
I have dozens of favorite current fighters, but none give me the sensations that a Tyson fight does. Hell, I wouldnt be here typing if it wasnt for Tyson.
He's the reason im in the sport too man! And i gaurentee u loads of others are the same as us!
Tyson had heart, he had a warriors spirit and luved a good fight! Unfortunatly he lost his passion for the sport and his fighting spirit sumwhere along the line! Look at his fights before jail man, Bruno 1 for example, he got hurt from a big left hook on the button, what did he do? He threw a Wild hook straight back! He kept fighting, never doubting he would win and he got the TKO! Tucker - fighting superbly, Jabbing well and possibly even stunned Mike a little early with a right uppercut, Tyson didnt wilt he kept fighting every minute of the 12rounds earning himself a comftable Decision! Ruddock - A huge puncher, landed many flush power shots on Mike but guess what Mike kept coming and got a TKO and a Decision! Shit even taking the beating of his life against Buster Douglas he pressed, and actually scored a big KD! He was Knocked out against Buster that night but instinctivly tryed to get up, The man HAD heart please dont doubt that!
